I showed my dad, who was born in 1960 this.
He said: "You know, as much hate i give the GDR, the GDR wasnt all bad. There was much more for your youth to do. The FDJ, The countless Youth clubs, After-school activiets and so on. I miss my own country sometimes. But obviously not everything was sunshine and lolipops."
And i see why. Him and i stand to this anthem, dispite me being born 2008. Way after the GDR united with the FRG on my birthday.
As a man who i look up to once said: Not everything is meant to last, enjoy the good moments you experience and treat them like their a once in a life time chance. -My Dad.
Now you get to enjoy cultural enrichment of Capitalism and having to use an armoured panzer car to go grocery shopping when its dark outside at night.
Kinda sucks tho ngl, personally i liked germany back then more, such simpler times.
I love how communist and capitalist nations despite the tension could still play sports together.

Ça aurait pû être bien... comme toujours les dirigeants n'ont pas été à la hauteur...
This anthem would have suited a united Germany far better. The music was original, the lyrics were patriotic and spoke of unity and peace and rising from thr ashes. The least they coould have mixed up both anthrms into a hybrid!
