    I remember this one, and all the subsequent notices in school. "DO NOT PLAY WITH THE SPOONS". And I think the craze after spoons, was clackers.

      The following year in 1973 Blue Peter had Uri Geller in the studio, and that started another craze of cutlery abuse.

    The three of them go so well together. Truly great entertainers and Roy showing true tenacity for 'the show must go on'. I wonder what Shep would have done had he carried on to the end.

      I get the feeling that if he had stepped on Shep's paw when he broke out into his tap routine, Noakesy would have lamped him.

    Poor Roy Castle. He was banging cutlery around in the sky way too soon.

    I still remember when John Noakes was on The Weakest Link and was asked about Shep and he said the dog had died and then couldn't stop crying. Stuck with me for over 30 years.

    When I was seventeen I met a steward in a British Rail restaurant in Paddington Station, who played the spoons. My classmates did not appreciate his performance, but I did because my mother had always watched such stuff on television and so I was familiar with old school music hall entertainment. It's not an easy thing to master, much like tap dancing and playing the accordion. ❤️

    This lovely clip reminded me of an amusing game I like to play and one you might like to try yourself dear reader...
    Try, just try to imagine a funny middle name that any particular celebrity might have...
    For Roy Castle I came up with 'Sand' as in: Roy 'Sand' Castle!
    Fairly amusing, don't you think and a lot of fun, I think you'll agree.
    Can anyone think up another one featuring another celebrity or even another one for Roy 'Sand' Castle?

    • @jeffrey44
      @jeffrey44 ปีที่แล้ว

      The unwillingness to offend is what ruined this for me. I wish he would have told that dirty dog to get lost. He should have done it using as coarse and ribald language as he deemed necessary at the time. Sometimes that's exactly what is called for. No one wants to be praised for "not offending" while they are being bitten in the privates by an out of control canine monster.
