Today we'll talk about the new release in Le Vestiaire collection by YSL, Babycat. This was not a blind buy this time ^^ I also tried to compare it to my other incensy vanilla fragrances (Arthur Penhaligon's and Soul of my soul by ELDO)

Well, this one surprised me as incense can be tricky sometimes. Dominique Ropion also created Vanagloria for Laboratorio Olfattivo which is quite close to this one... but too much for me ! I need a hint of sweetness, a little something to tame the beast 😅
There are some bigger channels I trust because I know that even when they receive free fragrances they give their honest opinion (lolascents, persolaise, smurfygurly, eugen, ...)
I also love to watch Sam, João, Chris, Lizzy, Jon, Rich, Andreas, Claire, Gaby, Julija, Marion, Gwen ... That's the beauty of TH-cam, there are many gems out there which are closer to my preferences and fragrance taste 😁
@@OlfactiveStories I subscribe to a number of these content creators. I guess one gets a feel for what a creator is about pretty quickly. I enjoy these plus a couple creators in Australia as well as Ramsey, Rich Mitch and some others who do more vintage fragrance content. 😊
I just had a thought....is it possible that the "private" / "exclusive" / higher end designer lines are the ACTUAL designer releases, and the bifurcation that occured to separate them from their mainstream tosh was just an excuse to charge a premium and make more money by selling sub-mediocrity to the masses? 🤔 Why did it take me this long to have this brainwave? It would certainly explain why there's usually a separation in quality or blending. Completely random I know. 😆 An interesting comparison with Arthur!
Well I like to think that the initial brands which got me into this trap are still doing a good job 😉 (Chanel, Guerlain, Hermès) But indeed except for the flankers, I have not seen a great original release in their regular line for a while. Maybe Hermès is still making some efforts 🤔
The only thing that comes to mind with Babycat is "BA-BY CAT DU-DU-DUDUdudu.." XD

I have smelled it and it isn't bad in the top and mid, a little too vanilla in the base for me though. Excited to hear your thoughts 🕺💃🏻

I didn't liked experimento crucis too, but I liked Frustration, very hypnotic undertone
Yes I don't know if it is the apple note in the opening or the cumin but that was definitely not my favourite one from the range either :D
I need to find a counter and try this one, the notes sound like I'd like it. Soul of my soul sounds really good too. 🥰
Yes they deserve a try ❤ In the end they were more different than I thought but I really enjoy both. Soul of my soul will be great for Fall during the day. Babycat is maybe more something that I would wear for evenings because it has a bit more character 😁

J’ai adoré tester les 3 parfums présentés 🥰. Babycat à une forte ressemblance avec Vanagloria de Laboratorio Olfattivo, plus abordable... Même parfumeur... on se demande pourquoi ils se ressemblent autant, bien que différent... Je les adore tous les 2, je ne sais pas si je les prendrais tous les 2 par contre... Une chose est sûre, l’un des deux finira dans ma collection 😇
Oui effectivement j'ai trouvé aussi une ressemblance entre les 2. Mais sur ma peau Babycat fonctionne beaucoup mieux d'où mon choix :)
The name comes from a print they used in a past collection. Other Les Vestiare fragrances include Jumpsuit and Tuxedo.
Indeed many of their fragrances have a reference to clothes/materials/textile, like Exquisite embroidery, Capeline ...

I bought it this summer because it was cheaper but it was so frustrating because it was still too hot to wear it. Now I can finally enjoy it 😁
It's definitely a brighter and softer incense, quite citrusy and peppery, but also cosy, classy and comforting. I don't know who created it but it gives me some Annick Menardo's vibe 🥰

Why does your box open like that? I haven't seen a Babycat box like that before. You might want to compare Babycat with Eau The Audacity from the Potions & Remedies collection by Penhaligon's.
Indeed I found that Eau de Audacity was quite similar but "softer" to me. (It was not yet released when I filmed this video). All my YSL boxes open like that. I bought my Babycat from the YSL website directly in France. Maybe the boxes are different in other countries.
@@OlfactiveStories I noticed after I commented that your Babycat bottle is the 75 ml. I have the 125 ml. My box has a base where the perfume rests, and the top lifts off revealing the bottle inside. I'm not a fan of the Babycat box. I don't know that Eau The Audacity is softer, I think it's a tad sweeter.
I just tried Babycat today, and I was a bit let down. It was sweeter than I expected, and I wanted more amber/resinous. Considering it was developed for the Middle Eastern market, it was very mainstream to my nose! 🤗
Maybe you would prefer Vanagloria by Laboratorio Olfattivo. It was also created by Dominique Ropion. It has some sweetness too and I found it "darker" than Babycat.
I tried it in Bahrain June 2022 the temprature was extremely high which put me off this perfume, It made me ill.
Indeed I don't think that this is a fragrance that I would wear in the heat 😅 Perfect for cold climate or Fall / winter though 😉 (I live in France so it is still quite cold 😆)

As far as incensy vanilla goes, I'm good with Annick Goutal's "Amber Fetishe". It is so powerful I don't dare to think of other fragrances of that kind.
Oh I need to try that one ! 😍
