Excellent content.. i totally agree.. i dont get why people dont see the obvious.. do most people not research or follow the organization.. its easy for me to see.. this defense will be top 5 if not top 3.. why do I say this ? The last 3 seasons, Gute has been drafting the players that is a perfect fit for a Hafley defense.. i dont think people dont understand how good of a scout Gute is , that is why he got the GM gig.. Just like the whole Rodgers drama ... Rodgers refused to play the scheme , the scheme that Gute drafted for ... by Rodgers not following the scheme , it affected the game long term which lead to playoff chokes .. Gute knows the Lafleur scheme very well and always has drafted players for that scheme .. Rodgers didnt like the young offensive players, didnt use them, therefore it messed up the scheme .. Rodgers became predictable because he did the same crap , the scheme did not as to why it worked under Love ... i guarantee a SB this coming seaon or next because it is now Gutes and Lafleurs scheme and team which will be the best youngest team in the NFL.. we already shown we can beat the best teams easily.. mark my words on a SB

Not to argue, but you're saying what exactly? Because a coach says A that's what we'll get? Is that How Powerful DCs are that once they say a thing It Becomes? _Or_ that because Joe Barry held them back Any Other DC Will not also do that?
Because that's what the Eagles think about Kellen Moore & if he continues calling the same plays that neutralized Herbert or helped Dak to lead the league in INTs despite missing 5 games, this assumption is _wrong!_ But hey, I like that people here *understand* play-calling & its effects.
Still, slow down. I once listened to an Arthur Smith interview long enough to know that like most humans, he's blowing smoke & says one thing while doing another. NFL coaches are _mostly_ ego-maniacs who would rather lose doing things Their Way than win. I'd even put Andy Reid in that category as he forced every QB he's ever had to throw long. (It didn't help Donovan McNabb At All when Reid continued doing this after getting rid of their only WR who could _catch_ long passes. But Reid never wavered). But hey, this is a good conversation here.
Far _FAR_ too few channels go here. I'm gonna likely subcscibe.

Expectations should be high for this defense under new DC Jeff Hafley considering it's potential and the massive investments the team has made on that side of the ball. The defense currently accounts for nearly double the salary cap spending of the offense (Offense: $77,454,352 Defense: $150,744,384) and boasts 10 projected starters with a 1st or 2nd round draft pedigree:
Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, Preston Smith (or LVN)
    Quay Walker, Edgerrin Cooper
Jaire Alexander, Xavier McKinney, Javon Bullard, Eric Stokes

So, on 2nd listen, you only went into stats from One Season? That feels like way too little to draw conclusions off of. I'm not apologizing for anything I said of anyone else here who was criticizing unfairly imo but to go from that to dismissing those stats entirely based on one season kinda reduces this.

I think I was about to include something in a reply & stopped myself because I didn't remember hearing what I was about to include. Anyhow, it's my first video of yours so I'll look at more when I have the time & mental clarity to hear things on the 1st listen. There's far too little analysis out there & of that, it's not all good.

Just looking at raw numbers often mixes up causation and correlation. Example, teams with 100 yard rushers tend to win. But the causation is backwards. Teams that are winning run the ball more to eat the clock, so they are more likely to get a 100 yard rusher. Winning causes the rushing stat, rather than the other way around.

    • @thecaldwellcorner
      @thecaldwellcorner  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

yes this is true but there are correlations between the type of defense you play/ what you specialize at and being a successful team. The NFL is constantly evolving and right now there is a high correlation between good pass rush and good successful teams. Doesn’t have to be the cause of it but it’s a big part of

Regardless of your record, to be a top 5 defensive in takeaways is a great thing. This means you offense has the ball more often to score. Not to mention defensive scores and great field position.
Your correlation stat about winning record and turnover ratio is annoying because it is a very robotic and a horrible analytical approach. Can't just pull stats and use them for your point. There's always so many variables. In this case would be offensive efficiency, might explain teams that lead in takeaways not having a top record.
Don't be one of those LeBron Stat fans/nerds that never played and has no context in the real experience. Please take this in consideration for your future videos. I/we just might watch the whole thing.

Hey, he did the research. & it's not like hes saying it's anon-factor. In fact he sounds surprised at what his own research revealed regarding this.
In itself, acknowledging a reality one does not expect is something I find a LOT of people can't even deal with. Question his certainty by all means, ask to see these stats. But no need to imply he said anything but what he said.
& hey, this is just funny to me. The Broncos went on a 5-game win streak where I think they got 12 TOs or more. They were planning to hold a fire sale & trade all their high-end talent for draft picks, then this streak made their season seem salvageable.
Russ has lost his ability to scramble then throw when his view of the field is blocked. So literally, being unable to scramble = being unable to See His Receivers. So he has led the league in passes behind the line of scrimmage.
For the past _five years._ Even after losing the weight it was at 23.7% of plays last season. Over 1 time in 5 he couldn't see the field. Ergo can't sustain drives.
If it wasn't for this win streak driven by those TOs, who knows what might have happened? Depending on whether Bo Nix pans out or not, Russ may have finally done something good for the Broncos. Or hurt them way worse for way longer.

@@ChewsCarefully Your first sentence is 'participation trophy mentality'. Anybody can make any point about any stat.
He is saying it doesn't matter, "... so obviously there seems to be no correlation to having a good team and winning the turnover differential."... He goes on to say since that doesn't really matter, "lets see the big stat on defense that correlates to being a good team." Then to go on to say "obviously theres no correlation to being a really good team."... Sign the D coordinator or head coach that says this to your favorite team asap.
No coach, team or any one whose played would ever fix their lips to make this statement. Instead what you would hear more than anything from players and coaches. "Win the turnover battle and we'll win this game." Etc. My passionate critique is just my passion for expecting humans to be (better) humans. And not just act like a programmed robots. Consider nuance and context of situations before you making wacky ass stats from one year be a non factor to being a good team. If anything, say something like "imagine what these teams could have done had they created more take-aways, or if they didn't turn the ball over in the red zone multiple times. or if they didn't miss those crucial open field tackles those last two games. etc."
Obviously creating turnovers, making tackles, and not giving the ball to the other team does play a roll in being an even better team.
We complain about ai. but we sure enjoy trying to be better programmed robots than them.
First two minutes were flawless. His recognition+ perception of the packers defensive situation last season was spot on. The taking of wacky ass stats from a year to say its a non factor in being good is crazy. You could have said, "according to last year, you could still squeak by and win it all. But I wouldn't chance it going into this new season..." then talk about how important the turnover battle is, because if you do get every fumble its going to have more of a positive effect than you losing every fumble... Same with tackles.

@@jamaal8786 He goes on to say since that doesn't really matter, "lets see the big stat on defense that correlates to being a good team." Then to go on to say "obviously theres no correlation to being a really good team."
Right. That too is what the stats show.
I think you're conflating presentation style with expectations. Because the stats don't meet our expectations, he expressed it this way because most people hearing this would realize the stats aren't meeting their expectations. Maybe if he'd taken the time to say "this isn't going to meet expectations either" it would have eased people into things more, but it's not the same as him saying "I have The Answer" then yanking the rug out from under us. He looked for correlations & found a lack.
& he's not saying this doesn't play a role. He's eliminating what doesn't factor into *determining* a great defense. The best example I can think of is the 2010 San Diego Chargers who led in yards on both O & D & were something ridiculous like 5 & 5 despite this. Special teams & TOs were The Reasons for the losses yet they were still the #1 D.
      No correlation.

Campbell was injured like our whole damn team was at one point. Campbell after being released said it was the defensive coordinator that changed the way he played and that was why is production dropped and by playing hurt. We dont have a really good front. Preston is not the guy. Van ness is too early to tell and Clark is the old guy now who doesnt make the plays he used too and Gary is a one trick pony. None of them have crap for sacks or tackles for loss. I guess we will see. We have to be better without just Barry being gone.
