It is not how less time you sleep, it is how much percentage of awake time you are using efficiently. If you have a vision and can study and apply for eight 30 minute sessions everyday for 5-10 years, you may not get into IIT, but your chances of a successful journey are greatly improved
I have also observed that getting only 1 hour (7 hour sleep) extra sleep have drastic improvement in brain's learning capabilities. Brain converts short term memory into long term memory during sleep. I am glad that he is not like other self proclaimed motivational Guru who claim that sleep and having occasional fun is waste of time.
All students from my batch who got into IITs sleep 5hours or less.While a student took pills to not sleep (she slept for only an hour)and got 1000something rank
