Hi 40uMace, good observation! I see 3 options: 1) reload at the starting position before moving backwards, 2) reload on the move as shown and then sharp turn to engage the target on the left or 3) do the reload when you arrive on the shooting position before engaging target on the left. I would test/time these scenario's to see what is the fastest and what feels most comfortable. Top of mind I would do my reload at the starting position, then drag gun behind me to engage the target on the left.
Variant 2) simultaniously move right leg backward and drop the mag going for fresh mag. Nxt step with left foot, make reload, than turn on your left and run. During whole time you are faced full in front, focused on reload. Steps are rather big than small.
