    The birds eye view at the end was an extremely nice touch. Gives you a feeling how bloody close quarters combat was and how much balls it takes to be involved in those battles.

    This is one of the best cinematic battles in any game I've seen, told a nice simple story, great shots and very engaging. Didn't skip through or anything (which for someone with an extreme lack of concentration is very hard to do) which is more than I can say for most others I've watched. Clearly put in a great amount of time, you've got my like and sub!

    • @BattlesCinematics
      @BattlesCinematics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you man! Glad you enjoyed it :) I was actually pretty conscious of the whole attention span and lack of concentration thing that seems to affect most people these days (myself included). So I tried my best to have something that moves the "story" of the battle along every minute or so. Although I do feel as though it got a bit repetitive with close up combat shots after the infantry clash. Started working on my next one a couple days ago and am trying to avoid things getting stale at any point.

  • @Bishey

    That was an amazing video. The beginning really reminded me of Battle of The Bastards. Nice Baratheon banners by the way :). I think cinematography was fantastic throughout. Loved the shot selection, especially at the beginning and the end. The battle tactics were great although Sturgia was clearly outmatched tactically.
    I really love the first and the last thirds of the battle however I felt like the close-up battle shots around the middle section were getting a bit repetitive. Maybe throw-in some fast panning wide and aerial shots. Overall, this is a fantastic edit and the effort you put in really shows. Great job!

    • @BattlesCinematics
      @BattlesCinematics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! Totally agree about the close up combat getting repetitive. I made a note to avoid that for my next cinematic :)

  • @plaidpvcpipe3792
    @plaidpvcpipe3792 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Oh man this is by far your best one! Just great! The only issue is that while at the start it seemed equal, by the halfway point we know the Sturgians are going to lose. It takes a lot of the tension out of it, and makes it feel like a onesided slaughter, which is exemplified by how the Sturgians give up on tactics after they lose their cavalry. Maybe if the Sturgians instead made a big shield wall defense, it could've made for a more equal fight, along with them having somewhat higher quality troops.

    incredible pal. I feel I just watched a short film. Very talented to design the story and create such an atmosphere. It felt so authentic. Really great work. I was thinking there might have been a one v one between those leaders when the battle was lost with the troops massed around them (don't know if that is possible with the game but think it might work well for future vids). Again, epic pal, really well done.

We were just playing around, splashing, doing laps and after the pool we went to a local McDonalds for a treat - I always used to get A cheeseburger, fries and an orange juice! Btw, Sturgian did better than what’s expected, they were outnumbered and still fought like beasts. Maybe next time add more Sturgian veteran warriors and shock troops so it’s going to be a fair fight

    • @DestroyerOfOgis
      @DestroyerOfOgis ปีที่แล้ว

      This cinematic is just straight up biased... They took out a few well equipped Sturgian troops and filled the rest with peasants... Also the tactics they used for Sturgia were horrendous. Another day, another biased cinematic. I really hope these "cinematic creators" will start doing fair battles for Sturgia instead of straight up insulting them...

      How can a peasant with a fork and in leather clothes battel a soldier in armor with shield and sword?
      The work put on this clip is amazing but the scenario is very lame on the fact that they are better equiped,trained with more people and fight an army much weaker and smaller.

    • @DestroyerOfOgis
      @DestroyerOfOgis ปีที่แล้ว

      That's called bias. He hates Sturgia just like every other "cinematic creator" which just shows the bias they use in these battles. Notice how they always use Sturgian peasants for the Sturgian side, and the enemy army is all knights. By all these shit cinematics, I want to do a cinematic equal to this by putting in 200 Sturgian Veteran Bowmen to do a heroic last stand against a 800-man massive Vlandian barbarian horde.

    Posted on the Siege of Galend and their video in winter. User: @Battles
    I'm posting this on three videos, hoping for the biggest chance of being seen. Also, after spending some 30 minutes writing this on my phone, I noticed you're most likely inactive and may never upload again. But if you do, consider using my feedback! :)
    I love it, you're using great angles and you're really doing a nice job with your editing.
    I am also a big fan of when you create a story, I particularly enjoyed the winter combat scene, how you over a period of time build it up. The troops amassing, ordering up. The rows of structured organized troops lining up. Only to then fall into a chaotic and brutal battle field.
    I also really, in particular, the ending of "The Siege of Galend”. What I'd imagine you also consider to be your best work yet. Hopefully you are open to feedback as well. Apologies if you feel this message is long, but I want to give the best feedback I can.
    One thing I think when seeing the battles is that they are a bit to cluttered. What if you tried using less troops? Let me delve deeper into what I mean.
    I'd imagine when playing the game it feels waaaaay less epic, but when making a cinematic, you'll be able to pick out scenes that makes it look like there is something much greater happening on the battlefield.
    Imagine an angle, where the camera is about 30-40 cm above the ground. The camera is sliding side ways to the right very slowly, while also zoomibg in, slowly. The angle is slightly up, about 10-20 degrees, putting the heads of the closest combatants' heads above the horizontal center line of the shot. Also, you could make a dutch angle that rotates slight. This will add a greater feeling of chaos; the camera is rotated about 10-15 degrees, then at the end of the clip, it has rotated to 30 degrees.
    What the camera sees would be maybe 10-12 fighters in total doing combat. You will perhaps see 4 soldiers in the foreground and 8 in the background. The nearest fighters are about 3-4 meters away from the camer. Where the furthest fighters would be some 20 meters away from the camera. Maybe there's also a few bloody corpses spread out on the ground.
    Even if this would be EVERYTHING that happens in the viewpoint. Then getting a few nice camera angles of some of these types of scenes. With some added sound effects from large battles. You'd be able to put the combat in an intricate level of focus, every swing, every action would be notable. Instead of how it is now, just a massive cluster-fuck of spears and swords swinging.
    Although, you should also have scenes that are perhaps a bit farther away from another battle, oretending it's the same battle, where you actually see a lot of enemies. I do however think that the combatans should be spread out as well.
    An unrelated suggestion, rather than feedback, would be to shoot the same battle in multiple sections. I know I already suggested that to create multiple smaller combat scenes. This time though, imagine that you had a battle that started in morning light and ended in the late evening. Night battles were almost unheard of in the past, considering the lack of night vision and such things. So the. You'd see the soldiers return to tents, if tents exists in the game. Then the decisive battle would be fought the next morning, the field already littered with corpses of yesterday's events.
    I'd also like to suggest that some post-processing of the colors in Adobe After Effects would go a long way. I don't know how it is nowadays, 10 years ago though, you could snatch Magic Bullet Looks off of pirate bay for free. I doubt this is an option anymore, sadly...
    For my credentials, you can check out my nicest edit, you can search for "Bishiba Breeze", it's some 8 years old or so. For something more recent you can search for "Bishiba Quicktips" and look at episode three regarding ambient lighting. The content of the video is not what is relevant, but rather that I am decent at editing. The editing style is different, as it's quite fast paced.
    Lastly, I would believe that you could do some really nice videos in Total war.
    Please tell me if you found my feedback interesting.
