The weather is beautiful and the natural scenery fantastic.The best season to visit Mancos is from May to September. Mancos is a natural door to the Huascarán mountain. Is one of the eight districts of the Province of Yungay which belongs to the Dept.of Ancash PERU. It was created in January 2nd of 1857. One of the versions about the name of this town (MANCOS) is narrated by Roberto Ramos Valencia who says that after the battle of Yungay the spanish army runned away with mules laden with gold jewelry. Two mules lost in the area of the town and this was a reason for the spaniards to be worried. CONTINUES

One of the spaniards exclaimed: Estos son mancos...that in english means: These people are maimed (crippled) that figuratively means: These people have no arms to steal, to commit robbery) That is the reason of the name MANCOS which now is synonymous with honesty and integrity of its inhabitants.Visit Mancos and enjoy its natural scenery.
