Great stuff! They should try out scenarios 7 or 9, which call for building small-ish fleets (if you're doing 1,000 points, then a first rate is about half your fleet!), and seem primed for a big bad confrontation. Both players are familiar with wargaming and seem excited to try out the various options, so having them build fleet lists would be cool. If I had a vote for another rule to add, it would be sailing in a line. Tactical musings for the French: in my latest defeat (scenario 6, they keep slipping away...), I was experimenting with the different ammunition types on different ships. For the brigs I soon figured out that grapeshot is a waste of time, since a brig firing heavy cannons at point blank range is just as good as grapeshot. I used a bit of chain shot with a frigate broadside, and got to pick criticals that actually took an enemy ship out of play for a round, rather than minorly inconveniencing her as one usually gets with a critical. I think the brigs are actually a great candidate for French chain shot: a 10" range is where you'd like to be firing from anyway, and it keeps them out of carronade range, particularly if you manage to dance in and out of that 10" killing zone. A few of those could annoy the living daylights out of a British first-rate that doesn't have enough support, especially if you want to be really cheeky and make them streamlined (might not be worth it on a brig, but the 5th rates are still nimble compared to the big boys) you can force another penalty on the enemy trying to return fire.
I'm gonna take them thru the 1st 5 missions. Then we are planning on taking the training wheels off. We are looking at a French/US allied force versus my British fleet. I will look those scenarios over for sure!-Mikey
@@tri-starwargaming What about giving them 60 points to spend on upgrades for scenario 3? Scenario 2 sneakily introduces upgrades. The rulebook doesn't say it explicitly: the brigs are being granted a free 10-point upgrade. 60 points in scenario 3 is enough for the French to go all-out on a frigate or make all of their brigs streamlined (choices!), for Americans to have a sturdy frigate, and for Britain to experiment (upgrades are the only place Britain doesn't have an edge, but if you've introduced musketry by that stage, a squadron of brigs with sharpshooters would be a nightmare!).
@@JamesLivesInBuffalo we have filmed the 2nd scenario and it's being edited as we speak. We used upgrades for both sides into that game. Also introducing an optional rule(whether it was a good idea or not is up in the air lol)-Mikey
Hi there I bought the set of Terrors of the Deep of Warlord games. I want to see if you guys can post it so I can understand how it looks and the name of the scenario is Bermuda triangle. Thanks.
Love ships…really like the game !!!
Love this game...

Some of viewers know that larger ships were often faster than smaller ships. They just didn't turn as well.
Looks like a fun game!
Stick around. In our next game we are gonna add a few more elements in for the 2 trainees-Mikey
Can I ask where did you get those helm shaped hull points trackers for the cards?
