Unboxing my Unison Colour set of soft pastels!

- In this unboxing, we look at my Unison Colour set of 36 soft pastels. I spent about two years selecting these pastels and in this video as well as sighing at their gorgeousness, I explain the rationale behind my choices. I wanted this set to be one with which you can "Paint Anything". I wanted it to be full of saturated colours of various values/tones. And I want you to be able to use it as your limited palette.
I was delighted to receive them as the pastels I'd been using to create the set were getting rather small and almost non-existent!

Yay just brought your set! I have spent hours researching and came across your set. Your expertise, colour selection and color values have sold me! Many artists recommend Unison too! Can’t wait to get them!

I just got my set!! Great walkthrough, excited to get painting with them. I ordered straight after the workshop in Melb and had to wait ages.

Gail! Congratulations! I just saw this set listed at Dakota. I looked at the colors and immediately had two thoughts: 1, I wish this set had been available when I started with pastels, and 2, this would make a really awesome plein air set :-) Looks like a great color selection.

Unison is the workhorse of my pastels. I LOVE them. With your selection, I immediately noticed the light, mid, dark pick and thought maybe it needs some more darks. But great strategy for the black - an economical choice to get more range. As addicts we always go over the top and absolutely need THAT extra shade, but if I could only have one set, I actually think you've nailed it...I probably would have to ADD a crisp white...and maybe a peachy/salmon orange which I prefer for some portraits over light pinks...😁 But artists are always going to add more over time so with only 36 sticks to play with, it's a GREAT SET!

I finally managed to get a set! It was not easy in Europe ( I live in Sweden, an art material desert) to find a retailer that sold it, sadly I cannot buy from the Uk anymore because of Brexit and the high cost of the British pound. I have just opened it and it is just like getting a wonderful set of jewels... how can I dare to use them... This will be my to go set this summer, just to teach me to mix colours myself and not always rely on ready made neutrals. This set will challenge me to use colour and value and will hopefully teach me to stop panicking if I cannot match the acutal colour of the subject! Thank you for taking so much time, thought and effort to put this set together!
Charlotta thank you so much for making such an effort to purchase the set. And I’m really excited for you and what changes will happen in your work. Love that you have set the challenge for yourself. I plan on starting to post more sped-up demos using this set so you can see what’s possible. But by experimenting, you will find that out yourself!!

Is it possible to still get this set?
Absolutely!! You can buy them from Unison Colour headquarters, Dakota Arts, Dragonfly on Salt Spring Island. You should be able to get them anywhere that sells Unison Colour pastels!!
