      Yeah well on my way to a fresh motor now, hopefully dropping it in the jeep Thursday! Won’t have first start up for a week or so though. There’s a newer video on the channel putting together the short block, it’s kinda long but it’s got some good stuff in there! Thanks!

    Hmm, feel with you, Just had a simular moment on my 77 wagoner. well, nothing left of those bearings. Mesure the crank, and get new bearings. (they where not to expensive) think i payed about 30usd for the rod bearings. and i coldant get mains with 0,050 mains, so i just had to leave the mains in. ill just have to run it as long as it wil run i guess.

      I’m gonna get the crank turned, new rod and main bearings, and re-ring it now

      @@DaysofPainandVictory i guess its the right thing to do?. When you work on these old v8, it seams to always be more repairwork and parts that needs replaced than først antisipated.

    I feel your pain. I pulled a running 360. I wanted new gaskets and it only made sense to do the head gasket while it was easy to get to. But then I found pitted cylinder walls. Ugh

    • @DaysofPainandVictory

      did you build it?

      @@DaysofPainandVictory I will be. I have to decide between heat in the barn or rebuilding. Money only goes so far.

    If you ever want to get rid or trade that single plane intake, I've got an sp2p with the smaller high velocity ports for torque??
    Let me know.

      I kinda wanna run it for a little bit to see what it's like, but I'll definitely keep that in mind!

    Those bearings are done.. it isnt the grooves its the silver coating is gone.. copper =bad. How many miles does your engine have ? When doing the rear main on my 360 in my 90 wagoneer.. i pulled 4 bearing caps to check.. they all silver sone still (foggy) foggy means fresh. And thats with 150k miles.
    Im shicked actually considering how much sludge was in the oil pan and on top of my heads when the valve covers were off. But i do have a knock in the engine when its cold for the first 10 seconds. I suspect cylinder 8 probly the cam shaft as ot has the lowest compression

    • @DaysofPainandVictory
      @DaysofPainandVictory  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure how many miles, I did end up building this one, had the crank turned, new bearings, etc

    • @jeepsblackpowderandlights4305
      @jeepsblackpowderandlights4305 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DaysofPainandVictory mine im having issies with cylinder 8 i believe.. 1-7 compression is 150 psi.. 8 is like 125. Engine knocks bad whwn i first drive it in a fresh day for the first 10 feet.. even if i let it idle warm up fully.. itll knock.. its so weird.. bearing caps on mine are in great shape.. i habe my oil pan off atm im painting it etc.. valve covers off.. Both intake and exhaust rockers do wiggle side to side on 8.
      So i think its a lifter.. or stuck valve ?

    • @DaysofPainandVictory
      @DaysofPainandVictory  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305 I would think with a stick valve the compression would be a lot less
