    Meshuggah has a way of riding the line with its music...emotionally. you dont feel happy and you dont feel sad. It's not good or evil ...persay

      Exactly. It never reaches happiness or sadness it's like some kind of limbo state.
      I nearly got misty eyed though this past winter though as I was cozy AF reading HP Lovecraft with my phone next to me playing The Last Vigil and I thought all of the magic and wonder this band has given me since 2005. And hear I was so many years later with TLV playing and it was just magical.

    Long time meshuggah fan and this is one of my favorites already. Glad to see you enjoyed it. What a band.

    Dude great analysis! I swear this song definitely feels like it belongs in a movie soundtrack or score. So emotional the guitar. Beautiful at the begining and brutal towards the end. Phenomenal 🤟🏼

    "That note choice" is dirty and it reminds us that eventhough one can be hopeful or expectant, one small note can erase it. I mean this in the way the note makes one feel...emotionally

    • @kingsamson9146
      @kingsamson9146 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deftones did this in Battle Axe as well...I remember trying to make my best friend, a musician, understand what I meant with "weird note choice" and it took a while..you expect a certain note following and what you get is different but so good as well.

    This song mindblowing

    This one reminds me more of Violent Sleep of Reason than any other track on the album which is not a bad thing.

      this song have a similar rhythm of Ivory Tower, with triplets, thats why

  • @Djent_Djenerator

    The chord choices and progressions are so good in this song and past tense. The chord choices for ending each phrase is awesome since they seem to end on chords you wouldn’t expect. Very similar to jazz

    Hey man! I love your reaction from this video on
    Cos I've been a fan of meshuggah for like 12 years, since I was a 16 y.o. fella.
    Their music is not that dark, like someone can mistakenly say, it's just a depth of constructive
    score.
    I see that as a musician you love it and its awesome, wish you could have more thumbs up
    Idk if you heard their album calls Obzen, such a masterpiece like the others from Meshuggah
    🤟🏻

    • @StenUustalu
      @StenUustalu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not that dark? I've never heard anything darker than Meshuggah. No metal band has sonically been that close expressing the actual underworld

    This is the deepest dig into the human aural cavity that a metal band has ever lifted an Atonal shovel up to execute!This is light years beyond a phenomenal listening experience.
    A hypnotic/euphoric entangling!

      I feel the same way about Tool songs. If they did some instrumentals there's no doubt they could do these kind of things easily. Guitar, bass and drums are down pat in this band just like the other.

  • @CarAudioObsessions

    Meshuggah and Tool have some of the best musicians in the game and theyre both metal bands.

    It sounds so chaotic and random until you pick up on the triplet groove. The polymeter creates such an outrageous syncopation.

    What amp?
    They use Cubase and some plugin. They did an interview in the studio showing how they play dry and then pick a tone.

    • @pipespeeps5349

      They only did that for koloss, on immutable they used evh amps and a horizon devices precision drive
