They should call it archicad 27.1 ! not really a new version. the upgrades are ridiculous and it was really disapointing watching the launch event... So many features that really matter to architects that could and should be improved. but great video David. glad to see archicad back on the feed :D keep on going! black friday is coming...just get the microphone support :D
More like Archicad 22.6. And I'm serious about that. They haven't had an upgrade version actually worth the term "upgrade" since version 2 2 for architects, that you could actually term a full upgrade worth migrating to.
@@Cbricklyne the segmented beams were a big upgrade. It is a great tool. But i cant get over the fact that you cant put measures outside the drawing so you can have a detail of a bathroom plan for example, without using detail tool (it makes it all 2d and it doesnt update if you change something...)
@@Fabio_MCMcan you clarify what you're referring to here when you say 'bathroom detail'? Are you referring to the 3D elements or an actual construction detail?
I endorse every word of your excellent assessment of the “new features” of the AC28 vs AC27 version. I think that graphisoft should reflect on the policy of “upgrades” because when an architect from Australia and another from Portugal (and I believe thousands of other users around the world) that in practice verify that there are almost no advantages ... something is wrong. When there are some tools that could and should be improved.
Not only should they reflect on their upgrade policy they should also reflect on their subscription pricing. Being the most expensive bim software that doesn’t provide the best upgrade year on year is not okay.
You kind of forgot a few things. - Openings in roofs - Now fully released & improved distance guides - Design options improvements - Rhino-Grasshopper Connection improvements - IDS support - Frictionless updates - and most crucially, the Global Library - which is not backwards compatible (very relevant for everyone who wants to update). It has the advantage of allowing Graphisoft to update library parts much faster and for all zones at once. It also has the added benefit of having a lot of library parts updated with more settings and MVO settings as well. With such a bleak take, it's kind of surprising you didn't mention the revamped Wishlist & Roadmap and to encourage users to make their voice heard and vote for new features/wishes.
Yes that’s fair I did exclude those items. However….those features are not really new or improvements that’s why I left them out. IDS support is now. The global library is a HUGE pain if you’re running a team and have your templates all set up ready to go. It’ll be a video in itself. I’ve been using archicad for 14years now and as much as I would love to say vote, push them to be better, it is very rare that I have seen them genuinely listen to the community. I do know there has been a big shift at the HQ so I am hoping this means a new era is coming.
@@DavidTomic I've been using Archicad for 12 years, and don't get me wrong I do agree things could and should be better. The software has definitely not been greatly improved in the last 4-5 years in the "Huw Roberts" era. But honestly the new wishlist and roadmap do seem genuine to me, and I think we can both agree that at least it's their biggest gesture so far to include/ listen to the community. It doesn't look like a "marketing" scheme to me so far. Maybe you could spotlight some of the wishes to encourage everyone to participate and who knows AC 30 might just turn out for the better. Just an ideea, obviously you do you. Either way I do appreciate the honest criticism and constructive feedback that you give, so please do keep at it.
Can you save in the free 30 day trial. I don't want to spend hours working on a project only to find that I have to leave my computer on all week to be able to go back and work more on a project. I mentioned in one of your other videos that I mistakenly loaded "SOLO" and what a waste that was. I am now opening the real version to see how that goes.
Excellent analysis. My projects are mostly small to medium, so improvements to load times and generation times are not significant. Most of the other improvements are minor. I came to the same conclusion as David
im trying archicad 28 and there are some menus that are different and i can't find how to do some stuff, specifically on objects like doors or windows, the options of overriding the MVO by object annyone knows how to do it on the new version?
You can try download and install my work environment (see description, on my store, completely free). This may solve your issues. Otherwise it might be because of the template you’re using.
The improvements are scarce and ionnecessary and superfluous, I have been using it for 20 years and the last 3 versions, raising the price, have contributed practically nothing, the load engineering part abandoned, the mep destroyed, they put redshift so that they pay for SSA subscription, useless physical real view Well, no one in their right mind works like this and neither will they use it as a render, a stupidity added to the program that is of no use, the AI is by far the worst integrated into bim software on the market. He doesn't look at his real audience. Look in the comments how people expect the mep and zascaaaa kick the users in the mouth again. I understand that behind it is that kk from the ddscad
There have been a couple good new features dropped over the years but few and far between. The pricing changes have really annoyed me personally and will affect all small businesses moving forward, especially those that don’t have a license already.
I find AC 28 to be really disappointing. 1. In 27 I am a huge fan of physically based 3D rendering. Now in AC 28 Everything is starting to turn blue now, which is really disturbing because in my opinion it is not "more realistic." When physically based rendering in three dimensions is enabled, lighting control is not available. 2. Only cloud licenses are compatible with new AI features. Why advertise something, if hardware keys are not working ?
Today I've installed the AC28 and, referring to your second point, I'm disappointed in the case of the AI Visualiser. Support has told me that only subscribed versions of AC have access to AI Visualiser. No for perpetual licenses. :c What is more, in the future (starting from 2025/2026) only clients who will buy subscribed, newest AC and probably"Archicad Collaborate", would be able to use all AI features. So I stay with AC27 for now. Luckily, we can save our work from the 28 version to the 27. It means, that using AI Visualiser is still available. Till 29 version of course...
What has surprised me the most is that everyone is working on AI features, heavily investing into the future. Yet all we got was a rehashed version of someone else’s software. I had high hopes for more AI features that would genuinely save us time

Keynotes might be the only thing that is new to me. Otherwise, this is archicad 27 with a few revit features.
Thank you, David.
Keynotes is very power, but otherwise yes I tend to agree for smaller firms especially
I like the way you explain about archicad. Easy to understand and not too long. Keep sharing the knowledge. 👍🏻
The only reason to upgrade is to get rid of all the bugs that are not going to be fixed in 27 but hopefully will be in 28.
Hello it is possible to use archicad 28 with v-Ray ?

Thanks mate. It’s reassuring to see so many people feel the same way and that I wasn’t just being “harsh”.
Till today no data Smith integration
Usually takes a few months
Thank you for the review, from Moldova. :)
