The way she gets emotional when talking about some of the records. That makes me fall in love with her music even more. It's like even if you haven't been through what she's talking about , she makes you feel like that's exactly the way it feels or is going to feel. I wonder how many other artist can articulate the creative process of each track on their album like this. Gotta respect a true song writer.
This was the best album of 2017 ...I loved the album upon first listen but to hear her speak so passionately about every track makes me appreciate it even more as well as her entire aura as an artist.... TALENT ALWAYS WINS!!!!!
such an important album in the world and to me personally, i could argue one of the greatest albums of all time. coming back to this video and seeing how connected and affective these songs mean for her and the emotions they bring up, it's just even clearer how much time, energy, and heartbreak went into this album. Kelela you are a treasure!
Kelela literally has been slowly coming for the top! I love how transparent she is and so freely calls out her references! She's definitely a showstopper. Real Artistry
Was I the only one who went trough a rollercoaster of emotions while watching this? I was literally crying and then laughing two minutes later. This album is a life saver
I love how much she’s into Janet. I also got major Aaliyah vibes on some of the tracks. There were some moments on Take Me Apart where I felt like “Man, this sounds like something Aaliyah would have made if she were with us here today.”
when i saw her live in december she teared up before singing "bluff" as well, i remember her telling the crowd how much this song makes her emotional and seeing her acting the same in this video makes me wanna cry so much i'm-
When I first heard Altadena I literally was at work and almost broke down. The song kinda just shook me from all the work I was doing, all the long hours, and I was like yeah... she captured this extremely well. Beautiful album!!!!❤
I love how she articulates on every single piece of her album. Being very open with how hard the transition from the relationship was and I just love it, you don't always find artists who would take every song from their album and go as far as explaining the musicality and lyrical experience behind it.
I'm sorry but SHE NEEDS TO GET US A LONGER VERSION OF BLUFF. This can not be only an interlude. She played us. I was expecting this song to be longer from the moment she released it in the Dazed docu'.
I've been bitter ever since I found out every song on there was literally an interlude. But then again, she titled it the interlude but I didn't think she literally meant it 😭😭😭
The power of vulnerability.. that is what she's preaching to us! Delightful hear her talk about her artistic process.. so much love for this gift in form a record..
I know I am late but seeing this interview and seeing the emotions means a lot. I was living in Seattle when I found that record. I immediately fell in love with the song Frontline.
this is one of my favorite videos on youtube. some of my absolute favorite artists of all time released albums in 2017 but take me apart felt like it was miles ahead of them. kelela is a god and so underrated
This album givrs me life. I've waited for this since 2013. Discovered her music on Pandora and so glad I did. Happy to see a debut album from Miss Kelela.
i love this album so much because of the way the tracks are suited to be bounced between. the whole point is all these stages, the order is personal though. we all find ourselves returning to some feeling in one way or another at some point, feeling like we’re back where we started or where we didn’t want to end up. every step of the journey is different, but there’s similarities that can feel like setbacks and opportunities at the same time. i think that’s beautiful.
love to see how much the song bluff means to her. its such a beautiful track, especially on the remixes album. its probably my fav. together with waiting, truth or dare, jupiter and whats really good.
She went emotional to Enough and Bluff and that makes me appreciate more the record. I hate that I am so late in to loving the record and the record os still as fresh, like it is not from 2017.
I knew it on OnanOn she was influenced by Björk. I just thought “i wonder if she was inspired by Björk?” And i was right! Lol Shes just a genius honestly in the way she makes her music and lyrics. Thats why i love her so much. I love this album its a very awesome album. I want to put it on when im in the car and put it loud.
the hair beads rattling are my JAM woooo turn it up keleels
fastfast23 23 i love it so freaking much 😍 I love those beads.
Ikr!!!
The tingles!
The way she gets emotional when talking about some of the records. That makes me fall in love with her music even more. i thought she was gonna cry when she was talking about Enough 😢
We need to put Kelela on like we did with SZA. It's time already.
Exactly! People NEED to stop sleeping on her
henri crousteau but everything after Ctrl was... trash. So no. Kelela is a treasure that we need to ourselves. I don’t wanna lose her like I did sza.
Elijah Online SZA did it to herself. Kelela has been making consistently great music since her mixtape: she deserves wider recognition now.
okay u right
Everything after CTRL was trash? Ctrl is her newest piece of work, we haven't seen what SZA is gonna do next, so what're you even talking about?
please do another breakdown for raven i love the album and would love to hear about her process
Her album is honestly the best project of 2017, It's so refreshing and new
TinasheLegion omg my feelings exactly! After hearing this video and listening t the album nonstop it makes much sense x I feel emo asf
This was the best album of 2017 ...I loved the album upon first listen but to hear her speak so passionately about every track makes me appreciate it even more as well as her entire aura as an artist.... TALENT ALWAYS WINS!!!!!
OK but why is my boyfren on your profile pic?
KPJAW HERE ????? SHOOOK
I love an artist who's not afraid to be honest, vulnerable and emotional.

Énio Ângelo a life. SAVER.
I'm so into her hand gestures haha. She's so expressive with them.
I love how much she’s into Janet. I also got major Aaliyah vibes on some of the tracks. There were some moments on Take Me Apart where I felt like “Man, this sounds like something Aaliyah would have made if she were with us here today.”
Dustin James Truth or Dare sounds like something Aaliyah would make.
She is such a smart writer. The emotions in the lyrics and vocal performance feel so mature.
I know right ❤
Man "Enough" is the song of her career if you ask me. I can tell she put a lot of herself into it and it definitely comes across in the song.
Better and cherry coffee are right there !!
NEEEEEED her to do a track by track for Raven
when i saw her live in december she teared up before singing "bluff" as well, i remember her telling the crowd how much this song makes her emotional and seeing her acting the same in this video makes me wanna cry so much i'm-

I’m so obsessed with this album. She is breathtaking 🥺🥺
My mom did that !! Her vulnerability makes she even more beautiful. So proud of this. Inspiring ✨
a special, one of a kind unique artist - thank you Kelela
i love her so much i wish i could hear her talk about her process and other artists she likes for hours
This album was everything for me. Best thing to my ears in 3 years
One of my top ten albums. I come back to this video every couple months to take the trip through it again.
I'm sorry but SHE NEEDS TO GET US A LONGER VERSION OF BLUFF. This can not be only an interlude. She played us. I was expecting this song to be longer from the moment she released it in the Dazed docu'.
ikr?? Bluff is my favorite song on the album, and it's only a minute long.
I've been bitter ever since I found out every song on there was literally an interlude.
But then again, she titled it the interlude but I didn't think she literally meant it 😭😭😭
YES THIS MF TEA
EXACTLY I thought we were getting full versions of S.O.S and Bluff because she basically released them last year with the Cieron Maget film
Bluff is like a stripped down version of the remix Jam City did for Robyn of "Who Do You Love" , so that's the closest thing :)
YESSS YESSS BLUFF OMGGG😭😭😭 I knew I wasn’t the only that got teary when I heard that song (especially “just a bit of this love”) it’s my favourite.
ugh i love her so much
The power of vulnerability.. that is what she's preaching to us! Delightful hear her talk about her artistic process.. so much love for this gift in form a record..
We need a full length version of bluff, I cry every time I hear it
I love the way she speaks amd sings. True artist. Awww she was about to cry😥
The way she spoke about bluff 😭😭
Bluff really touch my soul, that song is amazing.
she's articulate, honest, and has her own vibe, artists like her make it so hard not to have girl crushes😍
I know I am late but seeing this interview and seeing the emotions means a lot. I was living in Seattle when I found that record. I immediately fell in love with the song Frontline.
A perfect album Italian chef kiss
such vulnerability!! i love her so much
Can't wait til she blows up, her music has been on point since Cut 4 Me. So talented & beautiful 💕👑💕
this is one of my favorite videos on youtube. some of my absolute favorite artists of all time released albums in 2017 but take me apart felt like it was miles ahead of them. kelela is a god and so underrated

This album givrs me life. I've waited for this since 2013. Discovered her music on Pandora and so glad I did. Happy to see a debut album from Miss Kelela.

I am so in love with her album. It is truly a masterpiece.
She's literally one of the most beautiful women on this planet for so many reasons. I would space out and stutter if she talked to me
I’m starving for at least one new track 😢
I'm emotionally attached to bluff
Gab Bushpepa me tooo
Bluff hurts so good
It’s really sad that people sleep on Kelela so much. Her debut album was the best music of 2017.
