The point about the Gov having gold and land that could be used to offset our debt is fascinating. What are the pros and cons? How does this actually work? Would love it if you could drill down into that a bit more for us!
US Debt to GDP ratio is a non-issue. Japan managed much more debt with 0 negative interest rates and no sovereign debt crisis. Corporate debt is the issue, not public debt.
@@microbe_rz37-rn1dk Japan has had net zero economic growth for last 35 years. It is now a highly indebted nation. Japan national debt to GDP As of March 2023, the Japanese public debt is estimated to be approximately 9.2 trillion US dollars (1.30 quadrillion yen), or 263% of GDP, and is one of the highest among developed nations. 43.3% of this debt is held by the Bank of Japan. Japan is struggling to pay this national debt and has had to sell foreign currency and buy the Yen and push up interest rates to stop the Yen falling even further.
So is she suggesting the government should sell the national parks that we own ? Ludicrous. Is she just saying we should mark those up because they are worth more. Still ludicrous if we are not planning on selling them . 🙄.
The continuously changing economic conditions in our society have made it necessary for people to find additional sources of income, thus I am looking at the stock market to fuel my retirement goal of $3m, my only concern is the recent market crash.
such an eye-opener! curiously inputted Melissa Elise Robinson on the web and at once spotted her consulting page, she seems highly professional from her resumé
Thank you, Cathie. Love your insights. I think we have been in [an unseen] depression since 2008. Growth has been below normal growth, do you think? Which has been derived only from government incentive? Your thoughts appreciated. 😊😊😊
Cathie, for us to be in a recession now, wouldn't they have to adjust the current estimate of 2.80% on 2nd Quarter GDP and the 1st quarter estimate of 1.4% GDP both to negative? I doubt that could happen until after the election? And the last time we had back to back negative GDP Quarters, they said it wasn't a "real" recession anyway because unemployment was to low? Now it looks like the market is pricing in a recession? But is it a future one or a past one?
My problem with those numbers is the seperation of GDP from GDP per Capita. It kind've reminds me of how rich people like Bill Maher keep insisting on how good the economy is doing. While normal people are feeling the crunch that isn't visible inside his opinion's bubble. A recession might look different to individuals than it does to overall GDP. And she's heavily referencing consumer behaviour in her points. It's kinda like you have to ask when does a recession not look like a recession on the surface/outside?
Cathie is having an orgasm now that the recession that she has been predicting for the past 2.5 years is finally here. Guess even a broken clock is correct twice a day!
I like how negative the comments are about ARK fund performance. Its like blaming Tesla for short term, less than 5 years, factors such as recessions. In case you think I am being foolish, One of the Tesla shares I bought was at 400 usd. I do not regret buying it. I am slightly salty about buying at 230 last week instead of now though :) You either believe in the thesis of the company or fund you invest in and keep track of whether the fundamentals are sound or you are merely gambling. Towards the NVIDIA question, I ask you to consider this. When during the 2017 bitcoin bubble would you have exited the market? Hindsight is 20/20. We also don't know how it will play out. There might be significant upside or stabilization. Or it might go down dramatically.
Very interesting that Senator Lummis wants the government to hold Bitcoin and to remain neutral in the event of a possible future hardfork. I like the idea of the government selling Bitcoin only in service of national debt, and I love the idea of public money (central banks) and private money (Bitcoin) competing with each other.
