Consistently the best chess commentator. Other chess players who play while chatting about things not related to the game gets frustrating after a while - Only Jan can get away with that because, well, he's Jan.
Amazing that chess24 still hasn’t coded (1) an automatic queue for challenges; (2) a way to winnow out non-premium challenges; (3) a way to ensure better Black-White balance over a series of games; (4) a more attractive selection of piece sets and board colors, etc., etc. Fantastic chess content, terrible playing site.
(1) I think that being able to choose whomever the show author wants (a newcomer, a higher rated player, a lower rated player, a titled player, any particular player...) works better than an automatic queue would. (2) That would be neat, but, in reality, only Peter seems to actually need it. :D (3) I'm not sure how much of a real issue this is. Over a (really) large number of games, we do get a fairly even number of blacks and whites. "Locally", over a span of, for instance, 3, 4 or 10 games, we sometimes get more games with one colour, but that is quite normal - you either only pair people who played their previous games with different colours, or there is a randomness factor which means that stretches with more games with one colour will happen. (4) Can't comment on this. I don't have a problem with the offered sets, but I understand that it's a matter of taste.
(1) is an incredible waste of time. The same goes for (2). Who is begging for an "accept premium challenges only" feature? Are they doing this just for Peter? (3) If you play the same person colors switch. I haven't noticed how it works in the pool, but I find it hard to imagine that it doesn't match players based on their color in the last game. When you're excepting challenges the challenger can choose the color. You want them to disable that feature just for Peter as well? (4) Yeah, interface is no lichess but I don't think anyones begging for spaceship pieces on a green and purple board either.
Every time Peter sees some line which worries him at the nth ply I always want to shout at the screen "but you're Mr Svidler, you see tons of things that maybe only 20 other players on earth are capable of seeing, don't worry about it".
"Unfortunately for me it's a beautiful variation in which I lose". "It's a smart move quite by accident but it's a smart move nonetheless". If I have to suffer here, at least I should have something to suffer for". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Svidler
lol..peter is such a precise guy...he verbalizes his thoughts like chess moves.for ex.....he sees a mistake or a small inaccuracy in a move and he says so......and if he thinks he has just SAID a mistake(gave the wrong impression).. or a slight inaccuracy then he has to clarify it.... basically it is about not ever lying to himself........
it sounds like someone suggested she bet against herself and then threw the games to make money. match fixing in any competition is a serious allegation so he's mad someone would joke about it. he handles it so tactfully though.
1:47:15 Just imagine being able to see and calculate all that, whilst talking trash. Ugh. It makes me want to give up chess and switch to something I stand a chance in, like Snap.
bimbogiallo I understand your frustration, but do realise that this is free content from one of the world's best players. He is giving you insights for free. Totally worth the commercials imo.
Remo although i agree that its great content, its still terrible to have a commercial every 10 minutes. It really sucks being a premium member and still having to sit through that.. it just doesnt make any sense when you can watch it commercial-free on their site, just not in the app. Also, the only other vids doing this are clickbait and horrible rips of standup specials, and i wouldnt put myself in that group if i was a serious business
As a native English speaker I would describe his voice as 'throaty'. 'Gravelly' and 'guttural' also work but somehow seem a little less accurate when describing his specific voice :)
Always such a joy to watch Peter in action!
It's an amazing feeling to watch Peter talk and play! Amazing guy.. deserves the title- "russian with the impeccable English"
i could listen to svidler all day. highly engaging.
Thanks for these banter blitzes, Peter!
Power of this guy is incredibly confidence, its very important in chess
Svidler: "I really don't know anything about this line..." Proceeds to show all the theory of the line. :-)
Not only a fine player, but Peter Svidler is the Bobby Fischer of chess commentators.
Consistently the best chess commentator. Other chess players who play while chatting about things not related to the game gets frustrating after a while - Only Jan can get away with that because, well, he's Jan.
Peter, thank you very much for these valuable chess lessons.

Omg you r overpleasuring chess24 viewers for bringing Mr Svidler twice ina couple of days thanx a lot gj keep doing it
I love that you also make references to Jann's upcoming book.
Timur Gareyev was the guy he mentioned at 1:12:34 and you are right. 48 boards at the same time blindfolded!!!
Every time Peter sees some line which worries him at the nth ply I always want to shout at the screen "but you're Mr Svidler, you see tons of things that maybe only 20 other players on earth are capable of seeing, don't worry about it".
We all love Peter Svidler !! Living Legend !! And he likes cricket ! That's ok in my book !!
can we get some more Peter Svidler banter blitz? he's the best!
If you want to improve your game, you should always watch Peter's and Jan's banter blitz, at least it helps my game.
when peter looks to the left,,,his left,,,he is not thinking..he is visualizing the board after playing moves..in his mind

Jade Zee It's interesting. Lies do not survive in chess I guess. Correct or lose.
Looks and talks exactly like the name he called agadmator.
No maybe he was forced to say this by the SL Chess club. I don't like that what he made too but we don't know :)
What never mind Qf1!
Peter is a beast
Why did Peter get angry about the "troll" in 1:34:19 ????? I heard something about "Fiona" and the French league, but I don´t understand :s
it sounds like someone suggested she bet against herself and then threw the games to make money. match fixing in any competition is a serious allegation so he's mad someone would joke about it.

@@shazmunchdylbertoid ohhhhhh that was not a good joke indeed. Thank you for the response :D

Far too many commercials on mobile. No way I'm even considering watching it

He is a a great player, but I don`t like his voice. Too deep, too scratchy (I hope this is the correct word in English)
