my first one was a dilo and it tamed in a tree and i killed it by accident, it was funny but also sad. tbh i did not really know what to do as it was when i first played it
Playing ragnarok, my first carni was a allo (now before I continue there's something you should know about me, I like the get up to Chitin armor before I tame a bunch of creatures so yeah) it was stuck on two other allos so I ran back to my base to grab a bajillion tranqs. So I ran back and i found a lvl 124 anky and its lvl 36 friend had killed 1, so I kited the anks away then knocked out 1 allo and used the other for meat. Best 45 minutes of my life.

My personal opinion, and I do this every time when I'm on official or fiber craft or whatever I'm on, I always get the trike to be my second tame. Because first I suggest getting a parasuar to get fiber and berries. Then get a trike to get more fiber and wood ect. By then I usually try to look for some kind of flyer. Then find a base location and get a raptor or two, then settle on making a raft and living perm on the raft.
Also raptors are really weak when it comes to health and torpidity, so if you can get to a leg we’re the raptors can’t get you, you can bollo them all and knock them all out with a couple of tranq arrows

I wouldn't bother with any of these before level 50 because you'll probably just be raided I would recommend building a raft home, finding explorer notes, and taming Argentavis as your first dino

Dont get a trike, go for a stego. It was my first. I now have a level 200 stego with 700% attack and 10k health. Carried me through a lot of early game

Bit about the Ptera being your second flyer is wrong. Ptera is the first flyer you unlock a saddle for, at level 38. Pelagornis is the next closest at 43, Tapejara at 54 and Argent at 62. I consider taming a Ptera and Iguanodon to be the first major milestones to establishing an early presence in any ARK playthrough. After that, it's all about the Doedicurus, baby. Get one of those and your stone fortress will go up in no-time. Get a Phiomia, dot your base with some plant X, put a bunch of poop in each crop plot, and you can sleep safe and sound.
Got myself a level 15 therizinosaurus at only level 28 with tranq arrows, I’m set for life as this man destroys spinos and Rexes at equal level and a little above
My favorite would be the trike; specially the one on my current game. Not only did it had 5000+ health when I tamed it, I also lucked out on both speed and stamina. At 10000+ health and massive damage outpour, it’s my absolute favorite, able to take out alpha carnos and me preferring it even over my flying tames
I play this game very slowly, mostly because I don’t like venturing out away from the beach area into the woods, I’m about a level 50 on solo with a nice wooden house, a good amount of Dino’s tamed, good amount of supplies, only problem is getting metal.

Whenever I start a game I always go for the same. Therizinosaurus (wood & fiber), dœdicurus (stone), anky (metal), argentavis (to move around mountains) & tapejaras (to guide the argi), and iguanodon (to move around by foot). All the others are just "in the way" and I only tame them for convenience (icthyosaurus) or protection (rex).
If u want to farm berries tame a fast horse in highlands (Ragnarok) and tame a fast pt with Ovis meat in highlands n then tame a dire bear I u want but it’s not useful if u r a solo player
Yeah, pass on the Iguanadon. Even with the unlimited stamina thing, it's trash. The Raptor is an okay early grab, and I agree with everything said about the Trike. The Trike is a great and easy early tame that doubles as a berry gatherer and a newbie tank. The Sabretooth is okay, but certainly not anything amazing. And hide is the kind of thing you wind up tossing out thousands of before long. A leveled Raptor is as good or better. I agree with the Pteranodon. It's kinda a must have early in the game. Mid-game, the Pteranodon still can serve as a quick emergency recovery mount, although it'll soon lose any real value after that. The Bear is fun, and it's a solid tank. But honestly, I hardly ever tame them. But that just might be me.

Im supprised the equus isn't here. They can knock out anything. My first tame on ragnorock was a lv 130 equus, pumoed up hos health and meele and could knock out two lv 120 and 140 allos
The raptors are definitely not strong enough to kill a rex, I had 4 raptors around lvl 35 and they all got killed by 1 rex (it was a lvl 4 I think), at least I had my trike that could keep the rex at distance and kill it. A carno would be a better choice instead of a raptor because they also don't need much tranquil arrows, you just need to find a higher spot so they can't attack you just like you would tame a dire bare at low levels, and it's second attack knocks dino's back and makes them bleed.
I found a beaver and tamed it and level it up to only speed and i make a saddle and guess what happens when i go to home he glitches and jumps 5000 meters in air and dies

I do a note run get to level 70 in 5 minits then go to rag to get a pt then I go to find my base spot always build stone first then pvp on offical

I used a level 22 Dire Bear and I killed a Alpha Rex easily, it’s by far the best mount: the only problem is their breeding stats are terrible

A good level pter stated for stam and damage is op in battles and ofc some health.
Sarco is pretty Good also in my opinion, he’s speed is ok, damage also very good and health too, and he gains A LOT OF SPEED in water

If you use a trikes head to tank turrets it’s op and the turrets do like nothing but go for stego it’s better

I tame a trike and save up for narqs arrows and end up getting down a low lvl Rex. That’s how I start much easier.
I tamed a trike took a while as soon as it woke up it was killed by a sarco
If you wanna tame a pteranodon then hit it in the head once with a tranq arrow and a crossbow and it's down. No bolas needed
