What is this fascination so many people have (including myself) with disused, derelict or abandoned railways? The sight of a crumbling fogman's hut, dilapidated plate layer's hut, a decaying signal box submerged under moss and ivy, a long forgotten brick arch, a couple of yards where ancient rotting sleepers and rusted rails poke through the mud and grass where a railway used to trundle so many decades earlier...there's something sad, winsome and beautiful in all this.

Nice to know most of these stations have been so lovingly restored instead of disappearing under tract housing.

The old line which includes Takely and Rayne stations is now a "linear park".
