    One of his best.
    I think if the world listened and understood music like this more, it would certainly be a much better place.

    Still one of the greatest tracks by Jon. This was my first listen a year ago. Have been following him since.

    I listen to this over and over and over again. All these years and it still brings the same feelings to me. This one is so so deep, like existential. Just walk through the city, watch and observe all the properties of the world around, man. This is nuts.

    Hopkins really is in a league of his own in terms of creating a suspenseful otherworldly sound with his music. And I am always impressed with his fusion of acoustic and electronic sounds. Quite talented artist.

    Every once in a while, a piece of music comes along that simply blows me away. It happened eighteen months ago when I discovered Monday Paracetamol by Ulrich Schnauss. Now this track, by Jon Hopkins has done the same. Every time I play it, I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! anybody else get this? I feel the music does indeed 'drift up' as it goes along, and as it comes to an end it gently drifts back down ........ a stunning piece that lingers in the mind..

    This subliminal melancholic rhythm is captivating and celestial.

    The 1st JH track I've ever listened to. 5 years later and it still hits me like the first time. Every single time.

      polarbear242 I honestly feel the same way except with abandon window and immunity
      Those two songs I found at a weird time in my life that I both love and hate. But JH makes me remember the good parts

    If you were to compare this to, say, just walking along the street, it would be like something catching your attention in a shop window and you would just have to stop and stare.
    Its a real shame that incredibly powerful, deep, original music such as this does not usually get aired over the radio waves, instead of the constant-for-the-masses-over-produced-drivel regularly thrust upon us.

    Transcendental . utter bliss, beyond life itself..

    Got directed here by an artist called Rain Dog. And this is a cracking find - beautifully mellow and engaging. Why can't I listen to stuff like this on the radio? Why isn't this winning awards? This is real talent, why has it taken so long for me to hear about it? Because it's not culturally and intellectually bankrupt pop music and therefore mainstream music outlets won't play it. What a crying shame.

      Steve Pettifer omg u can say that again.. I'm in full agreement

    • @EnosEverything
      @EnosEverything 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve - This is the case with so many artists these days, not just Jon...I have read Mojo and Uncut magazines for years and through them I've found out about so many wonderful musicians and bands that are so much better than the dross played on the majority of radio stations and t.v.music shows... The pigswill that is rap seems to have taken over so much of teen culture looks as if it will never die out because ignorance and a lack of talent is easy to conjure up in that field... Real talent - singing, playing an instrument and being talented is now frowned upon ... All you need now is an image and a management team that has no interest in music - only a desire to make money through excess and publicity stunts... Forget the radio, read up on great talents and check them out here on youtube.

    I never noticed this for years but there's a woman speaking into the left speaker during this song. She speaks through the whole song almost and just blends into the drifting fabric of the sounds. This is a very textured track

    I think Jon Hopkins and Low Roar should do a collaborative piece. If you haven't heard anything from Low Roar, I'd suggest listening to "Patience" and/or "Nobody Else".
