Hi Caroline and Anthony! Actually, the majority of the local Thais who take the free shuttle are going home in the area and some are going to work at the mall. I rode on that shuttle last November and spoke to the Thai passengers and they told me that it’s a free way to get home. Most of the locals do not go into the mall. This is why the boat shuttle to Icon Siam now charges 10 baht when it used to be free. The mall realized that the locals were using the boat shuttle to get across the Chao Phraya river but not go into Icon Siam.
Fun fact: They give you 6 hours free parking (used to be 8 hours) because the mall is so massive. IKEA: Mega Bangna is the first IKEA store in Thailand
Mega Bangna is to the south of Bangkok. My house is way up north. I go there if there is a special purpose 'coz the drive is long and tiring, even with the tollway that drops me right down in front of that mall (but on the other side of the Bangna Trad Expressway). You guys look like you really had lots of funnn!!!

@ChovyTravel the harborland experience can be had in Sydney Australia, but across 4 separate venues. Sydney has the Westfield's chain of malls. Believe it or not,I was once experienced a bad day at this mall, saying struggled to spot my car at the huge parking lot after purchasing some decorative items at Ikea out there.Literally,it took about an hour to grab it,that's the answer to describe how big of this mall!!!
The big malls you see in Bangkok like Siam Paragon, Central World are in the area called CBD (Central Business Center). In the area of Asoke and Sukhumvit, they call it NewCBD. It is centered around the EM family of malls, such as Emporium, EmQuartier, and Emsphere, as well as Terminal 21. There is an area connecting the CBD and NewCBD called Lang Suan Road. And when you go to the east of NewCBD, you will find the EastCBD area or Bangna area. This area is important because it will connect to Suvarnabhumi International Airport. And the EastCBD area will be like a border connecting 2 future mega cities of Thailand, Bangkok and EEC Mega City (may be called another name). EEC is a combination of 3 large industrial cities in the eastern region of Thailand, Chonburi(The Pattaya City and Sri Racha are part of Chonburi Province), Rayong and Chachoengsao. They are going to build a Mega City, which is like a 2nd Bangkok, to be completed in 2030 in the Sri Racha area. Both Bangkok Metropolis and EEC Metropolis will be connected by high-speed trains and motorways, making travel between the 2 Mega Cities convenient and fast. With the high-speed train connecting Bangkok and the EEC mega city, it will take you less than 60 minutes to travel for a distance of more than 200 kilometers between the two metropolises. In the EEC, there will be a large airport, a smaller version of Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is U-Tapao International Airport. They will make this airport an aviation city similar to Incheon Airport in Korea and Narita in Japan. For the reasons above, EastCBD or Bangna area will develop rapidly. In addition to having Mega Bangna, which is the largest 2-floors mall, there is also a mall of the Mall Group called Bangkok Mall, which is the largest mall ever built in Thailand (bigger than The Iconsiam). In addition, there are many large real estate projects in this area. The project with the most investment is the foresties, worth more than 120 billion baht. It is an office and residential property surrounded by a very large planted forest area. 😂😂😂

Originally, Mega Bangna was a business of SF, one of the 2 giants in the cinema service industry in Thailand. In addition to the cinema business in hand, SF's investment portfolio also has many department stores called open-air shopping centers, which are department stores that are developed horizontally rather than building multi-storey department stores like leading department stores. Most of them have only 1-3 floors, and one of them is Mega Bangna and Esplanade. But then the number one giant in the cinema business industry, Major, bought shares of SF, which made all the department stores business, leaving only the cinema business. Therefore, all SF department stores became the property of Major. But when the COVID-19 crisis hit, Major lacked liquidity, so it sold shares of SF to Central Group, allowing Central to get some department stores that were originally owned by Major, namely Mega Bangna and Esplanade Ratchada. And as we all know, Central has been doing business with Major for a long time, so they are both strong partners. Central takes care of the department stores, Major takes care of the cinema business. The owners of SF Cinema are also competitors and business partners of Major. Therefore, Central also has personnel who are executives of open-air shopping centers. This is why the Central West Village mall that you have explored was created because it used the concept of Mega City Bangna as inspiration for its design. The executives of Mega City Bangna became executives of the Central Group! 😂😂😂
Oh wow!!!! That’s so interesting and also very smart!! Thanks for sharing this. Central and Major are 2 that are everywhere for sure. SF movie theater too, we’ve seen around. Some of their theaters look nice. We seriously have to check out Central West Village… we loved East Village and it became one of our favorite ❤️ Thanks again for sharing this background story 👍
You guys missed the cheap food court like the one at Terminal 21! You buy a reloadable card and eat cheap street food. From my recollection, it’s on the second floor.
you're correct, Long John Silver sucks. These days, it also has a tandem A&W Rootbeer Burgers in the same fast food restaurant, which also equally sux, double suckage all in one place. And they don't serve Coke products, another minus. Captain D's is better for a fast food fish 'n chips place, which also isn't saying much.
Actually Central group doesn’t only own just deparment store in Thailand, Its first foray into Europe began in 2011 with the acquisition of Italy’s prominent luxury department store, Rinascente, followed by Illum in 2013, KaDeWe in 2015, Globus in 2020, and finally Selfridges Group in 2022. They have around 80 department store around the world.
Who are the owners of Central group? I envy their stores. I got to visit Central Village during my last visit in July and i was mesmerized. I spent the whole day shopping and was not able to explore it all
@@lynnetteleilah3739There are other outlet builds arond the same time by other company ((Siampiwat) names " Siam Premium Outlet" it about the same size with different docoration// Central own by Chirathivat family, one of the richest not the richest family in Thailand only 3 families richer than them.

@@ChovyTravel Central east village and west village are same concept like Mega city Bangna. and they add pet friendly ecosystem in these malls.
😆😆😆
We this they’re great 👍
You guys missed the cheap food court like the one at Terminal 21! You buy a reloadable card and eat cheap street food. From my recollection, it’s on the second floor.
Really!? I swear we toured the whole mall… 🤔 Unless it was inside Central? That’s one spot we didn’t go in all the way I think…
the food republic is just being renovated, so it is not open at this time.
Okay that makes sense because even the information told us to go to the Ground level 😁
Please do an apartment tour .
We will try to do it hopefully in the very near future 😃
Actually, it has the third SBUX kind of hidden away at the back near Harborland.
Oh really!? Wow! That’s insane!
Moo deng have a good day bro lovely 🙏🏻💕🇹🇭🫶🏻🐘
Isn’t Moo Deng a popular hippo!? 😅 Bro, you calling me a cute Hippo or what!? 😂
My favourite donut brand is called “ Kinu Donut” it’s a Japanese style donut😊🍩 the store is in Aree area.
Thank you so much for sharing! 🥰🫰❤️🙏 Will have to check that place out. What’s your favorite donut from there?
@@ChovyTravel They have 3 flavour, original icing, cinnamon and salted egg. The salted egg one is very good, nothing like normal savory salted egg.
Hi hope you could close the trip loop by telling us how you get back to the BTS station.
Sorry. The terminal where we were dropped off is where you would take the shuttle back to the BTS.
Thanks
You’re welcome 😉
Are you able to access all internet websites like the ones in the U.S.?
Not all US websites
you're correct, Long John Silver sucks. These days, it also has a tandem A&W Rootbeer Burgers in the same fast food restaurant, which also equally sux, double suckage all in one place. And they don't serve Coke products, another minus. Captain D's is better for a fast food fish 'n chips place, which also isn't saying much.
Okay 😅 Definitely don’t need to try it in Thailand or anywhere else 😃. Just needed that extra assurance. Thank you for that! 🥰
อยากให้คุณลองชิมอาหารข้างทางในกรุงเทพบ้างครับ❤😋😋😋
We do love street food 😃. Where is your favorite spot to get street food?
Actually Central group doesn’t only own just deparment store in Thailand, Its first foray into Europe began in 2011 with the acquisition of Italy’s prominent luxury department store, Rinascente, followed by Illum in 2013, KaDeWe in 2015, Globus in 2020, and finally Selfridges Group in 2022. They have around 80 department store around the world.
They monopolized so much 😅. It’s pretty crazy! Thank you for sharing!
Who are the owners of Central group? I envy their stores. I got to visit Central Village during my last visit in July and i was mesmerized. I spent the whole day shopping and was not able to explore it all
@@lynnetteleilah3739 Chirathivat family
@@lynnetteleilah3739There are other outlet builds arond the same time by other company ((Siampiwat) names " Siam Premium Outlet" it about the same size with different docoration// Central own by Chirathivat family, one of the richest not the richest family in Thailand only 3 families richer than them.
Mega Bangna is in Samutprakarn though , not in BKK.
Got it! Thank you for the clarification 🥰
I like soooooooooooooo much even i can't tell how much i like your content really sir . Pls i want to talk to you personally so pls tell me where i can bcoz i want to ask you about Thailand visit
Hello 👋 we responded to your DM
@@ChovyTravel it means I can't talk to you directly?
Do stores have big sales like Black Friday? So one can take advantage and stock up like razors, underwear, etc
Some of them, not all.
I’m not quite sure on that. They do have sales though.
The kind of mega sales that they have all year round, no need to havr a special one on Black Friday. I recommend you visit Central Village for discounts upto 80% on big brand names.
KFC has a special menu right now that I dare you to try. It's called "Kai Jai Ded". But I warn you, it's extremely spicy. I recommend you to try it.
OoO Wow! Thank you for the heads up!
Have you tried it?
@@ChovyTravel Sure, I've tried it and it's my favorite menu item at KFC. But let me warn you, even some Thais can't stand the spiciness of this menu item. It's sooo spicy.
Caroline is gonna wanna try it lol 😆

I’m a fan of the og cartoon transformers. The movies are garbage to me.
I know, right!? Can’t even keep up with the new transformers…
I am not a fan of Transformers.
😅 I was a long time ago until they made like 10+ Transformer movies 😃
im so tried of yall asking us questions like this a kids shows
It’s a way TH-camrs get viewer engagement. The more comments, the better the video ranks.
If I’m a TH-camr I would want to hear from my viewers too. It’s not a surprise having tons of question living in a whole new country and surely Thais has no problem answering them. Be open minded. Peace ✌🏻
@@sweetp2927 totally agreed.. cheers
@lopat4826
Sorry to hear that but we’re just very curious 🤷. The questions are for the people that are willing to help us/are interested in answering. We’re not a huge fan of the hostility so maybe we’re not the channel for you
That’s true and it’s actually fun reading your guys comments/experience. Since we read every single one of them.
There is a bed cinema too in case you want to watch transformers while laying on the bed and they have a snack buffet for you in waiting room so go early🎉
Will definitely have to check the bed cinemas one of these days. Thank you for the recommendation! 🥰❤️🫰🙏
