Packy, thank you for the great content. I've have been out of bowling for four years and watching your videos has inspired me to consider getting back on the lanes. Thank you and keep up with the great work!
im going in may i got my hammer pink urethane for it but also bringing my hammer amp up and my hammer overseas viral hybrid .. i might even get the new hammer 2.0 im right handed but throw a back up balll.
As a 2 hander, I actually tip my inserts (if you don't know what that is, it's putting just the tips of your fingers inside of the ball. Just enough to make it legal, but more than enough to cut my 500 rev rate in half.) That way I can use a weak urethane like the pitch blck or black hammer as a spare ball, and also have it for a urethane spot in your bag. This leaves an extra spot in my bag, which I can can put either a weaker reactive ball or even a stronger Urethane ball like a purple hammer (depending on what I'm bowling on)
@@machinethesun9243 the ball doesn't spin as fast. When you put your fingers inside of the ball, the ball is naturally more cupped in your hand. The more cupped your hand is, the more of you hand you are using to actually rotate the ball. Think of tipping the inserts as straightening your wrist as a one hander. It becomes much harder to generate fast revs with a straight wrist, so you have to get your hand under the ball more. Tipping the inserts places the ball in a position further away from your wrist, which makes it "straighter." There are still around 200-250 revs, so the ball won't go dead straight, but if your ball speed is low and your rev count is high (like mine is), it makes spare shooting much easier, especially on shorter or burnt up patterns. Typically, I put my fingers in up to the first crease from my fingertip, about 2 inches. I can typically average 490-500 revs. When I tip my inserts, I.E only put the bare minimum of my fingers in the hole (say, maybe 1/4th inch) i cut my rrv rate in half. To be completely honest, you might be able to get more revs by simply curling your wrist more in order to get your hand under the ball more.
As a two hand bowler, I never really used a spare ball. My bag is just a pink widow pearl, a zing solid, and a purple hammer urethane. I throw the zing at my spares like ten pins and that's what I've been doing for while now. I'm going to be bowling on the autobahn 40 pattern this weekend so if y'all have tips on that pattern, that would be awesome
I wish I knew more about the Brunswick balls. I spend so much time learning and memorizing Storm and Motiv equipment, I legit have no more room outside the umbrellas of those two companies!
Our team went there for a tournament and I was surprised by how dry the lanes were. Every ball I brought had covers that were too strong, including the only pearl I brought. I had 10 minutes to shine up everything I had, and only the pearl worked, and had to play much farther left than I'm used to. I've only been bowling a few years, so I didn't really know what to expect there. Oh, another tip, bring your glasses if you wear them, I couldn't see down lane!! The ceilings were so high that the lighting was weird.
I've been out of bowling for about 10 years. My wife bought 2 balls for my Bday, and they have been sitting. She bought a Gem, and a Nova, and I just can't find time to bowl. Bad thing is I live in Reno, so I'm forced to work a bunch, haha
@The House Bowling looking to buy my first ball for non league use (for now) urethane or reactive? The person at my local pro shop recommended reactive to start with. And yes i hook and am a two hander.
Perfect video, I’m going in April and was trying to decide if the Rattler and Purple Reactive were too much overlap, these two with a purple hammer are definitely coming with, just need to figure out my big ball bag lol
I'm bringing 4 bowling balls with me (including a spare ball). Got an Envy on the way and a Purple Hammer Reactive soon to be ordered. Thinking ball number 4 will either be my Scorpion or Ghost Pearl. Haven't made up my mind yet!
Thank you Packy for the Tips for the USBC Nationals Bowling Tournament where me and my dad will be bowling in June 15(Teams) and June 16(Singles/Doubles). I hope I can find you and bowl in the same squad as me and my dad. If so, I'm going to get my autograph pass and have you sign an autograph, because you the one along with Kyle Sherman and Brad Miller a.k.a. the "Brad and Kyle" channel watch your vlog and saw you on T.V. when you her bowling your live match-play. Also, I almost played the same line that you are playing when I was bowling minus I bowled one handed close to Parker Bohn III, Rhino Page, and Gary Foucner Jr. Plus, I have my Arsenal including "The Prism Brunswick" my most aggressive ball, along with the "IQ Storm" and the "Timeless Storm". And I also have my Urethane which the "Pitch Black Storm". Also, I brought my spare ball or most bowler would say plastic ball to pick up my 7 or 4 pins to pick my spares. And Finally, my family including my mom and my brother(Bradford) will be going to Reno to watch me and my dad bowl and maybe take a look at the tour of "The National Bowling Stadium" maybe before or after the bowling tournament if we have time. But overall, I hope the best of luck to you Packy along with myself and my dad.
Ok, so Brent mentioned possibly hitting the ball with some surface after throwing it the first time in practice. What is the rule regarding when you can and can not add surface? I was under the impression that once you threw the ball in league or competition, even if just in practice, it was off-limits as far as changing the surface.
The rule is different for the open championships I believe. You are not allowed to alter the surface once you leave the back. I remember almost getting a ball throw out because I was changing the surface and they told me I couldn’t once I left the squad room.
@@chadwitte4435 that’s weird. I just double checked the rules on the Open Championship website and it doesn’t state that it must only be done in the squad room, that it’s just not allowed once scoring begins
Since I will be in the championships.. ever.. this helped me a lot! JK I wish I never gave up bowling although our bowling alley closed so I would have had to go 40 miles one way to bowl.. I was a 200 average at 12 also in mostly one place so all of this is very confusing and over my head
@@TheHouseBowling What a shame. I like the fact that you could sit in the stands and watch the other bowlers and try to get a feel for what the shot was like. Plus, if you brought family with you, they could watch you bowl. Now you lose that experience.

Does not zipping up your pants give you more air flow and help increase your scores? I'll have to try this tomorrow night in league!
Imagine if that place had mirrors completely covering the walls on the sides. It would look like a never ending string of lanes.
They should totally do this^^
Thanks for advice, also the only channel I watch the most through the day

Tipped inserts reduces rev rate? I only put my tips half way in does that mean I'm losing revs?
