- This is a song from an old guitar book that I have. The story sounds very sad - a soldier saying "If you want to write to me, you already know where to send it - the front line of Gandesa." He goes on to describe the "inn" at the front line, serving grenades for the first course and shrapnel for the second - "..to make the meal memorable."
This is my first time at synching my audio and video. It was quite an interesting and patience building experience ;)
Disclaimer: I know I got some pronunciation wrong, I'll be happy to hear your honest critique if you can point to specifics :) Also, I know this really wasn't supposed to be a woman singing. But oh well :)
Hope you enjoy, and if you like the variety of videos I do, consider subscribing so you know when the next one comes out :D
PS. Thanks to all of you who are supportive of my singing, and special thanks to those who sent messages :)
PPS. I didn't write this.
Wonderful!!!!!
Wonderful performance of a song that tried to lift the spirits of those who fought against fascism in the Spanish civil war. I've been listening to her for years and today is the first time I make a comment... Her message is once again more alive than ever.
Hello from Gandesa, Catalunya. Even in the first line. Stop Fascism!
Wonderful! Cheers from Galicia, north west of Spain... Thanks to sing our songs...

me gusta mucho tu video.... excelente
Que linda interpretacion...desde Bolivia..
This is a song from my childhood about the fight against fascism and nazism is Spain. The fight is not over but it is encouraging to hear the beautiful voice of a beautiful woman singing the song. Happy Christmas & New Year & God bless you.
Fantastic rendition. You really hit it. I thought you were from Barcelona. My father fought in the Spanish Civil war and this was perhaps the most popular song from the war. My mother and he bonded over the song when they first met. I played your rendition for her last night and it was lovely. Great job shooting and editing yourself. You slowed it down to the right tempo. Sepia worked great. Thanks for this.
BONNIE, NOT ARE YOU ONLY BEAUTIFUL , YOUR VOICE MELTS ONES 'HEART!
Thank you so much!
Excelente interpretación!! Gracias, muchas gracias!!! La comparto...
Amazing voice and style. No complaints about your pronunciation... such a great job!
Estella Rosa
Hay mucho sentimiento en esta voz.
This is a revolutionary song, not anarchist.Revolution is not anarchy. Beautiful!!!
Good job, Bonnie! Yes, this is a song from the Spanish Civil War. As you can see from all of the comments, the civil war still touches a nerve with the Spanish people or with anyone who is against type of fascist oppression. Your expressions on the video are right on target as far as showing the anguish that was experienced during the war. It would be great if you could find more of these songs to record and share here. Thanks so much for your time and talent!
I'm Spanish and your song touched me. As a soldier sang that song as we ran. It's a very sad song, but war is very sad and terrible. There is nothing honorable in war, there is only pain, death and destruction, nothing more.
Your pronunciation is very good, really. The way you sing and you have me excited facial expression. Very good job.
I would ask if you could sing "Al Alba" is not war but did when in Spain yet people were shot.
Very good job. Thank you.
salu y felicidad!

Gracias desde Uruguay!!
Thanks for sharing this song from our war. It's sad indeed, but it's also heroic, as our war was. Our fathers fought and they lost. But they kept their honour intact. And their ideals.Sometimes defeat teaches you a lot more tnan victory.
Great ! fantastic voice and song... you play the guitar and sing very well. Thanks you for that emotive song "Si me quieres escribir" Greetings ! !

i stumbled upon this somehow.....
very very cool.

This is an anarchist song from the spanish civil war (1936-1939)
And btw, I already told you this over at your page but the collab with Rhett and Link was really neat!
Beautiful interpretation of this song & good accent! Try "Santa Barbara bendita" or "Soldado, no", if you want to cry your eyes out, esply the latter-- no guitar required for "Soldado...". Sique cantando. !Que bella voz!
You have a very, very beautiful voice and you are beautiful too. Your pronunciation is very good also.
Nicholas, was your father in the Internation Brigades? If so, may my heart and my thanks go to him and you. There has been no nobler people.

Mientras, leeré nuevamente a José Antonio.
fantastic!!! :)
Nice, Thank you from Spain.
Your pronunciation is pretty good, this painful spanish song sounds beautiful in your voice, thank you for sing it.
¡VIVA LA REPÚBLICA!

Bonnie, awesome video and song!! Great job editing too...Did you edit it? WOW
No passaràn !!!!!!!!! Great song
Yearning to hear more Spanish Civil War songs by you. I know it was hard, but am waiting. How about "Soldado, no"?
Heh, actually, after I made this one I was thinking "Whew, it'd be so easy to make a yodeling video compared to that." So you never know, one might just come up soon ;)
Thanks Lincoln. I hope your project turns out just the way you want it to ;)
srce moje
Very good interpretation.
And yes, it's okay for a woman to sing it. At the front were militia men and women militiamen.
Thank you :)
Lol...I don't think there's enough room in a comment, or even enough creativity in my brain to make a list of those things ;)
Lovely song!
its a spanish civil war song
You really did very well i like it :)
You will make this story happier.
