    I used to do body work and install sunroofs. Something you never think about is sunroofs are designed to drain down a tube in the pillar of the car. Usually doors have holes in the bottom so the water leaks out. But with that design the water would drain inside the car. That’s definitely something to think about before I buy a kit.

      And that is the issue with the rear hatch. No drain hole and when it pours it’s going somewhere. Great comment.

    Well, that is a great warning to folks like me who intend to drive a Coupe across the country from Virginia to California and back. Lots to think about and prepare for as I start the body work. Thanks for posting a very informative video.

      If you leave the carpet out, leave it aluminum put some drain holes that it’s no big deal

    I may build a drain for that back hatch now that you mentioned that. I’m also really leaning towards sealing the windows off and just making them removable panels.

      Yeah, getting these cars. Watertight is always gonna be an issue and a drain at the back hatch around where it kind of slopes inward would definitely go long ways to allowing the water to go somewhere instead of flooding up over. Or you can do what I did and pull most of the interior out and throw heater in there and a dehumidifier and dry it all out every now and then.😂

      @@cobradaytonabuild1671lol damn. Yea I’ll make a drain hole and a hose down the back of the car. Have you tried any silicone to seal tighter behind the weatherstripping?

      I have not as it’s never leaked before but it was really hard rain.

    Making the cad weather tight is the biggest item on my lunch list! As you know, I drove mine cross country through some weather and took on a little bit of water.

      @@cobradaytonabuild1671 I’d love to do it again soon. The Lonliest Road is calling out to me!
      This summer I plan to go to the London Cobra Show and a Rally North America event in New England. And maybe I’ll be able to get out to Beartooth Pass this year.

    I have 3/8-16 set screws in the rear bottom of my main tubes which I use as drain plugs. After I get caught in the rain, I drive the front of the car up on ramps and remove the set screws. The first time I did this I absolutely cannot believe how much water came out, and otherwise would be living in the main tubes forever. I suppose 1,000 individual rivets, even though they're sealed with silicone, can add up to one big hole.

      @cobradaytonabuild1671  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s shocking and scary to hear but I don’t have the GEN one or two with those main tubes so I got a bunch of small tubes but now I’m worried about those. I hope those aren’t getting filled with water.

    Do you think you might be looking to redo the defrosted and add a drain? It just accept it as is?

    • @cobradaytonabuild1671
      @cobradaytonabuild1671  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure yet. Don’t plan on getting caught in weather like that again but you never know. Thank you for watching.

    Expensive, but it may be an actual solution: FormaCars has a type 65 electric window kit. For the rear hatch, is it worth it to just drill a small drain hole underneath the seal where it's pooling? It's just fiberglass to the ground right there I think.

    • @cobradaytonabuild1671
      @cobradaytonabuild1671  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My biggest issue with the formacars windows is I don’t like the look it gets rid of that race car look and I really like the little sliders on the side. Just looks cool. I am going to look into maybe putting a drain back there but we’ll see if it doesn’t rain like that very often. Thank you for the great comment. I appreciate it thank you for watching.

    I have been wondering how your carbon sound deadening and what you did for heat blocking has been working? Especially knowing people with other Daytonas.

    • @cobradaytonabuild1671
      @cobradaytonabuild1671  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No issues with heat but stopping the sound or trying to is not going to happen. I have come to realize that with the exhaust two feet from your head you need hearing protection at all times. No way around it
