    Harry Caray, Steve Stone, and the 1984 Cubs are the reason I love baseball.

      Neat, I could say the same about the 89 Orioles and Jon Miller, Brooks Robinson MelProctor and John Lowenstien. No personalities left in the game.

    This will always be the quintessential Cubs game! At Wrigley...beautiful sunny day with a packed crowd...Harry & Steve on TV...before lights & before all of the other changes to the Park. You can't get any better than this! Well, I guess you can be in the bleachers watching the game with a hot dog in one hand and a cold beer in the other!

      @@Tdecenso79 I was only able to experience that a couple times --in a bar in Wrigleyville, but yeah, totally agree! Surrounded by Cub fans, near Wrigley --nothing on Earth like it! They should bring back Steve.

      @@douglaslowe5 oh yeah! The 'stros had Richard, Scott and Niekro. Who were the other starters? I don't want to look it up. Bannister maybe. I liked Ruble --he was always good against my Cubs. Of course, my Cubs were atrocious up to '83 and '84 of course. Cruz, Puhl, Howe, etc. Yeah, always liked those late 70s & 80s Astros.

    • @Landrew1208
      @Landrew1208 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bobby D was not a leadoff hitter nor was Bowa. He was just as frustrating on The Phils and even Richie Ashburn felt he could improve.
      Bobby had a decent year in 1984 with 149 hits .278 avg. But keeping him at the top of the lineup caused more harm than good.

    The Cubs still had our beloved ex-Phillies players starting the ballgame.
    I love seeing Manny Trillo playing 1st base. He looks so natural there. Bobby D would come back here to Philly in 1989 and hit a dramatic inside the park homer. Keith Moreland would hit 27 hrs.
    ... It was so enjoyable following The Cubs in the 80's as a Phillies fan.

    This was a microcosm of the 1987 Bob Knepper. I think he was still shaken from game 6 of the previous season's NLCS. Nonetheless, he was serving up lolly pops.

    Last year for Rick Sutcliffe and Bobby dernier also a one and done year for manager gene Micheal really Leon Durham came the next year in 1988 and andre Dawson last year was 1990 I think and in 1989 it was the wild thing Mitch Williams came up with cubs this was the best 3 games series that cubs played but they failed and end of year to st.louis

    • @AMEER-114-
      @AMEER-114- ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Durham was already there...he did not come in "88...
      Also, sentences and seperate ideas actually require some form of punctuation so they do not run together in a confusing stream....
      PAUSES that you have in your mind do not jump into the text and appear in the written form on the screen.
