I can't agree Liu Ning is handsome in conventional sense, but I don't think he deserves to be called ugly either.
He fitted his role in "Journey to love" much better than Leo Wu fitted his role in "The long ballad". Leo totally ruined his character according to me (as did Dilraba hers).
Liu Shi Shi is very pretty and to me first seemed to be a little bit odd to be paired with Liu Ning, but frankly I thought they fitted very well together and Liu Ning's singing voice is very difficult to match.
(Liu Shi Shi's real life husband is not what I would call handsome either.)

To me he’s very handsome and very talented. They are too many haters out there. If not look what they did with the actor Zhang Zhehan just to give an example. Most of the Chinese actors are striving for popularity but how about those that they career was destroyed for envy. They need to stop the hate and pay more attention to show love for each other. Liu Yuning is, in my opinion, is a handsome man and good talent. The people are cruel to critize him and frankly he is poplar who can sing lyrics to series which is more than I can say for any other actor. He has a great voice to listen to. I think the citizens of China are given to much power to influence the producers/directors of who they feel would be a better fit for a particular role.
I don't want to put down the actors/actresses singing the drama's 0st but when I first started watching cdramas, I didn't understand why they used them because most of them don't have good vocals. I am watching 'Journey to Love' because of him... I love his performances. And I'm glad that they have given him a main role. In other dramas, he was not the main role, but he got my attention more in his performances than the main role.

I think he was the second main reason I stayed watching Legend of Anle. His part in that was so moving and touching. I fell in love with that character and wished that his character had been the lead. His music ability is amazing. So people need to lay off. So what if he didn't start as a child actor? He is better than most that are.
Me too watched Legend of Anle where I noticed his acting was so damn good. He could bring me to tears and pain in my heart with his unrequited and silent love for Anle. Though cast in the role with selfish reasons to seek revenge for Anle, his acting is remarkable.

I applaud people who are undeterred by anything and anyone. I thank Yuning's persistence. Had he given up on music, I wouldn't have had the chance to appreciate such a unique and charming voice. He didn't have proper training as an actor, yet he's doing everything he can to be validated. Truth be told, it breaks my heart when he says he isn't good enough..because he is. He is as deserving as everybody else of a chance. When you see his improvement as an actor, you will appreciate how dedicated he is, yet he was met with even more undeserved criticism. I’m American and grew up poor not long ago this year I found myself homeless for 6 months. I haven’t been homeless since I was a young child. There’s days I go without food and then two years ago I lost My Ma and my uborn baby and nine other love ones. So my heart ❤ goes out to him and I will continue to be a fan. What is amazing are his convictions and inner strength facing adversity. I really admire his courage, perseverance and hard work. He is a very intelligent person that understands what he has to do to overcome his struggles and achieve his goals. What is so endearing is his coolness in facing all these challenges of life with a positive attitude. He has so much talent, his natural deep potent range of voice is what captivates once you hear him talk. His humility is very endearing and makes him one of us, relatable to the unknown public. He is an attractive man but what really shines is his kind soul and that makes him more attractive. Finally, his acting is good for someone that had never had formal training, he is a natural, but he knows he has to improve, to archive his goal and succeed in this new venture. He did a great performance in Heroes, was very impressive as Bai ChouFei and later as Mingxi in Legend of Anle. As Hei in Ultimate Note, he did well and was convincing as a conniving street character with great sense of humor. He will shine in all his ventures as a model, actor and naturally as a gifted singer.
