Hello Allison. In my opinion all these problems we are experiencing are because of the “ clean beauty” and reformulated makeup. In my painting experience I have learned that “ the enemy of good is better”. . So the new YSL bronzer has talc and in my opinion it performs fantastic. That’s just my opinion not challenging any one. Have a good day. 😊😊
I completely agree. Some of the “clean beauty” trends may turn out harmful due to the products spoiling faster. I recently got an eye infection due to this.
About my Palette with the Mold: I did not want to comment on the matter, but here I am in doing so only to clear any assumptions, for instance, there being mold in the wall. I have collected and used Dior Beauty products since the early 2000s, and I absolutely love them and will continue to do so. Throughout the years, I have discarded older palettes after 5 years and even then never came across an issue of mold or even faulty smell. Did I use the older ones after the first year at most 2? Absolutely not. It would be unsanitary, especially since it is not recommended by the brand itself. But sometimes I kept them because they were so pretty. It was not until recently (and the only time) that I experienced this problem with the Mitzah Face and Eye Palette. To point out, I did not use it and went back to it about 9 months after purchasing. Therefore, it had not come in contact with moisture or contamination of any sort. It was stored along with my other Dior products, and not one other product had this issue, whether powder or cream. (I keep my products separately by brand but organized in the same location). Again, I did have a couple of palettes accumulated in my collection since 2015, I just couldn't let go of lol and not one had this problem, not even the most recent ones. But once the issue of mold came about with that one product. I then, of course, discarded every single product older than its expiration date. The point is that even though this is not common, it is wise to check and take into consideration the expected time frame of use of each product because the suggested expiration is there for a reason. I learned from my mistake, which is to buy products I will use immediately and definitely within the next 6 months. That way, I can actually enjoy them. Hope this helps.
I have that lovely Mitzah palette. And I’m sorry that happened to yours. I’ve had mine, I believe for almost a year now, at the very least over 9 months and have been happily using it off and on and it has no mold. Also, it’s experienced varied storage, sometimes on my bedroom bookshelf with other palettes, sometimes on my hallway bookshelf with more palettes lol by my bathroom and even in my bathroom itself on my bathroom sink along with other palettes on a storage clear shelfie on the bathroom counter while experiencing no mold. Hopefully that continues as it’s a treasured palette and so far has been performing beautifully. It’ll work lovely in the summer for soft pinky and even somewhat peachy looks. Again, sorry that yours didn’t hold out. But mine so far has done better. Let’s hope it keeps doing me good. 🤞😉💖
@FitChickGlows Glad to hear it is working out for you 🥰 I have considered repurchasing since the colors are so beautiful, but I have not done so yet only because I know I will not be using it right away. Perhaps for the fall season, if it is still available (still available online at Sephora US).
Regretfully, the prices are increasing and the quality is decreasing! Once I saw the Jade Facette, I remembered that I had something similar from my past...and good enough, I pulled it out and it was still in pristine condition and very usable... from 35 years ago!!! Unfortunately, for me, I have not seen anything WOW! from the makeup industry for years now! I, for one, do not want to waste my money on items that will last only a few months. I cringe at the thought that my heard-earned money is making these companies richer and me poorer. Thank you for the review. It does help when making a decision as to what to purchase. 😊😊😍😍💖💖
I’m so happy to hear it. That’s quite stunning that the shade from 35 years ago is still pristine but not surprising. It’s insanity that these “luxury” brands are making products that rot after 6 months.
Always enjoy watching your videos Alli! You always call it as you see it, and I really appreciate your candor. Helps me spend my cosmetics money more wisely. ❤❤
I completely agree with you about the Chanel "topper," Blanc Perle: the camera does not do it justice. I was able to swatch a tester in person this past weekend, and the shade is unlike anything I've seen from the brand's shadows. I bought mine online yesterday. I like what you did with the green shade; it reminds me of the Chanel promo photo of the model wearing the color in a way that just pops. 💚
That’s exactly what inspired me to do the look. The promo photos have a bit more of a 70s vibe to them but it’s gorgeous on its own anyway. I’m so glad you love the topper shade too, it’s so unique.
Ive always wanted nice make-up. During the pandemic, i decided to work on building a collection of things I loved. I've spent so much money over the last few years. I really hope my things don't go bad. Love your honest reviews! You're channel is my favorite❤
Blanc Perle is really stunning, and on camera does not do it justice. It's like a butterfly wing. Worth the blind buy if you love a soft pink with irredescence!
Only it's not "special" as its one of the most common iridescent shades. I have multiples in palettes, singles and highlighters. People might already own the same thing without realising
@exomake_mehorololo I think people would know though if they had something like that? And if it was a shade you'd use a lot then you might prefer a single to a whole pallette
Yes the topper for Chanel is just out of this world. You may not see it on camera but trust me it is beautiful. I did get 4 shadows from Chanel and still thinking of the deep green from Dior. Thank you for this. ❤
Chanel VS Dior. Who do you think is the winner? They’ve both come out with competing products recently so I thought that a side by side comparison would be helpful. What do you think of the short expiration dates on the Dior eyeshadow singles? 💚
Thank you for this informative video. I truly appreciate comparisons. The jade green shadow is pretty and will be fun for summer. I was curious about potential fading though. I have noticed that with the blue in the Rivage palette but I adore that palette so I will make it work. Feel sorry for the subscriber that had a mold issue. For the price that we pay for the luxury brands, it really is unacceptable to have such a short life expectancy on these cosmetics. Unfortunately, with many brands switching to “clean” beauty, it makes me wonder if the preservatives are not as potent as more natural alternatives…just a thought. 💚
I’m so glad that this was helpful! I did not notice any fading with the green Jade colour thankfully. I think packing it on the lid is really helpful. I also feel bad for that subscriber. 10 months is a really short time for makeup to mold 😖
Thanks for the honest review. As a long time Chanel fan I start to get disappointed and less excited with their products. Chanel was a brand (so I thought) that doesn’t “steal” from the customer experience by cutting costs and excluding brushes or pouches. So sad to see their value fading. 💔😢
Hi dear Allison, thanks for the beautiful video!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩REally love the Chanel single shadows here! Love the green as well, not that i have all, just a few, but they are beautiful! The green shadow is a bit different indeed, next time some eye primer, or, how you did this, great idea!!! Have a wonderful day!!!😘😘😘😘
You look stunning in that Jade Facette eyeshadow, Allison! I’m so glad I purchased that shade and the Blanc Perle. I’m seriously considering ordering the Brun Talpa shade as well. I wound up purchasing the Medium Coral palette from Chanel because they were already out of stock on the Light Coral, but I managed to order the Light Coral one from Macy’s website. I checked out their website today, and they’re already out of stock on that as well. Fortunately, mine is in the shipping process. The light palette is much more neutral in tone because the blush is more subdued, whereas the medium coral is warmer and more punchy. I think I’ll be able to use both, depending on depth and color I want. Not that I needed both, but oh well!😂💚
Oh my Lord, I loved this video! Helped so much to know where to invest my money. Thank you! Would you consider doing a side by side Dior vs Chanel of your all time favorites from each brand?
💚 wonderful comparisons thank you Allison. Love the jade facette one and done look. That is awful about the lady’s palette spoiling like that. I have only ever purchased Dior’s lip products which I love. I’ve just ordered the pink lilac blush glow to try…fingers crossed 😊
I prefer the Chanel eyeshadows but I am definitely biased as I’m a Chanel girl! I have the Dior denim (the lighter blue you returned) and it’s worked well for me since i was looking for a powder blue shadow that wouldn’t be too bold. It’s definitely softer and that’s what I like about it. Love your reviews and videos. Also love the jade facette 🦜
Hi Allison, I found this kind of videos very interesting… as I already told you I’m very happy with mitzah eyeshadow from Dior and i have bought also the topper of Chanel and the talpa color but I still have to try them when I will be back home … anyway from your review you confirm me that I have made the right choice.. thanks beautiful 🍏🍏🍏🌷💖
Loved the review comparisons Alli also Love the beautiful eye colour. The Jade colour is so pretty i’m patiently waiting to pick all of mine up next Friday on the 17th at my local Chanel counter. I feel Chanel has one the eyeshadow round and bronzer round for sure (although i do like my Dior Pink Bronzer) and i feel Dior have one the liquid complexion round with the Star Filter & Glow Maximisers 💚
Allison! Lol, how do you always make me want to buy EVERYTHING you wear🤭. That green eye with the bronzed skin is GIVING! I already purchased and made a review video for the Chanel eyeshadows (not edited yet) and now I want that green and topper shade🫣. Funny thing is, I actually was at a Chanel counter and searched those two exact shades and they didn’t look nearly as pretty swatches as they do on you😕. Anywho, I’m going to slow my roll because I have SO much makeup I need to use and enjoy, but that green is REALLY tempting me🥰 Beautiful per usual Alli🌸
Thanks for the review. I was thinking of picking up a Dior eye shadow, but now I decided against it 💚 there doesn’t seem to be enough colour payoff and vavavoom 😂
Thanks for the tip Ali, I think I used my finger mostly and i thought about it after and I sprayed my face with a mist and wonder if that had something to do with it. Wow shocked by the Dior palette story 😳 Anyways the green looks stunning on you 💚
Love your video ❤I bought the two limited edition eyeshadows.. from Chanel… gris and mauve.. they look beautiful.. the gris is almost a denim color . Great with the spring Chanel pallet with the blue.its also great on its own . Very subtle but stunning. I love the Chanel big pallet. I wish it had a cover 😢. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos l❤❤❤
Annick Desnoyers
Allison, love the Chanel green shadow on you!! I need to get the Blanc Pearl topper. Great video comparing Chanel vs Dior. It looks like Chanel won. Dior only good for 6 months & mold 😝. Thank you for the video & swatches!! 😊💚
💚💚💚 thank you for this video!! I have not been liking a lot of the Dior products ever since they started reformulating- like the concealer which was my hg and now they added fragrance and it gives me an allergic reaction 😢
I got the Les Beiges palette, and have such mixed feelings. The performance is superior and I actually love that it’s oversized so I can pick up individual products more easily. I agree a brush and pouch would have been nice for travel but it’s not a deal breaker. The shades however are frustrating. I really wish the bronzers are more neutral and the highlighters brighter. Nonetheless, I decided on Medium Coral and the overall effect is amazing and the most airbrushed of any bronzer/blush/highlighter combo I have used. If they had a true cool medium pinky palette I would have been all over it. But the Rose Gold looks so similar I can’t justify it
The whole “mold” thing can be because of other reasons. She could have mold on her walls and even not know it. I have the same pallet and its fine. How you store the pallets also can make a difference. I love that you keep your makeup over the supposed time limit. I do too… just smell them to make sure they are ok. Thats what I do.
It could be. I have palettes that are close to a decade old that are still fine so it’s quite something to have a product go that off in such a short amount of time.
I prefer the Chanel products. While the Dior bronzer packaging is lovely, the fabric can get dirty. I have the compact from last year, the cute blue nautical stripe, and it’s getting some wear. I prefer the Chanel eyeshadows over Dior. Thanks for the detailed reviews and for your observations and thoughts 🌸💚💚
I like the Hourglass palettes better than either of them. And Patrick Ta has nailed the perfect bronzer. I love Chanel so much, but I’m not loving all of my new purchases.
For the Dior palette that got moldy, was it stored in the bathroom? No matter it shouldn’t get moldy in 10 months but maybe we need to keep Dior as far away from Moisture as possible with its already short shelf life now.
from luxrul bought a Birkin and I went into Louis Vuitton at South Coast Plaza with a friend who wanted to buy a card case and we received great customer service. They offered us water..LOL I would never buy authentic knowing that are just as good.
I agree this a new strategy by Chanel - they pay off is softer. You have to dig in several times to get a good pay off. So does Chanel want us to dig more product to use up faster because the palettes go bad sooner? 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Dior formula DOES expire after 6 months. It has happened to me several times. I bought the blue eye palette, it took me 5 months to wear again. The formula was powdery, fell all over my eyes, irritated and I couldn’t wait to remove it. Even Chanel products are not performing well after the suggested period. In fact, in recent releases, 1st use vs 3rd use had noticeable underperformance. Brands are eliminating chemicals and replacing with other things, that are making the products go bad faster.
That is such a shame. I understand reformulations but only for the better. If they keep making worse products that expire in 6 months people will just stop buying from them.
I'm disappointed Chanel didn't give any cool toned or just neutral options. If you're very fair or cool toned none of the palettes does do you any favour 👀 it's unfair! You should not have to buy items that don't suit you just to partake in a collection
As a canadian youtuber, why do you only give the pricing info of the products in US currency and not in our own ? That is very surprising and confusing to me...
I usually say the Canadian price when I just purchased the item because I have the receipt right in front of me but this time I didn’t so I just did a quick google search for the price.
I received my lilac eyeshadow today. Your eyeshadow look is beautiful. I will try not to purchase any makeup w/only a 6 month shelf life, especially since luxury makeup is such an investment. 🦚
May the best eyeshadow single win 🏆
The only loser is our wallet.

I like the green on you. I ordered almost every eyeshadow color, they just arrived, will let you know. Allison, do you use eye primer?
Yes I do. I love the NARS, Hourglass and Fenty eyeshadow primers.
My pleasure! I remember that nautical themed one - it looks very pretty. I agree that the fabric can get dirty easier.
Please show us your Chanel and dior goodies behind you 😍😍😍
Sure 😊
💚💚 love your videos ❤❤
Thanks so much Helen 💚
Hi, great video! Please mention the prices in Canadian dollars as well 💄😊
Will do!!
I like the Hourglass palettes better than either of them. And Patrick Ta has nailed the perfect bronzer. I love Chanel so much, but I’m not loving all of my new purchases.
Oh good to know! Thanks for sharing that.
For the Dior palette that got moldy, was it stored in the bathroom? No matter it shouldn’t get moldy in 10 months but maybe we need to keep Dior as far away from
Moisture as possible with its already short shelf life now.
I’m not sure but I’ve never experienced anything like that before and I have palettes that are close to a decade old.
My guess is the winner will be Chanel! And now I will watch 😊
😘😘
You just sold me the Chanel Jade!🧚♂
It’s so pretty 🤩
from luxrul bought a Birkin and I went into Louis Vuitton at South Coast Plaza with a friend who wanted to buy a card case and we received great customer service. They offered us water..LOL I would never buy authentic knowing that are just as good.
I agree this a new strategy by Chanel - they pay off is softer. You have to dig in several times to get a good pay off.
So does Chanel want us to dig more product to use up faster because the palettes go bad sooner? 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Maybe? You could be on to something.
are these products permanent or limited edition? Are the eyeshadows wet/dry formula?
The eyeshadows are permanent but Chanel has certain shades which are limited edition. Mostly the red ones which I did not buy.

I didnt know that eyeshadow had different Weight in same brand
Very sneaky.
Dior works best for me. Across the board
So you are suggesting that the Chanel products are the better ones. Thanks.
It depends if you can use up your eyeshadow in under 6 months.

Me too! I wish they had at least one option with a neutral or cool toned bronzer.

As a canadian youtuber, why do you only give the pricing info of the products in US currency and not in our own ? That is very surprising and confusing to me...
I watch all her videos and she always shares both Canadian and US currency I love her detailed videos so helpful!
@@Candy-zc7hh hence my surprise, I know she does often, but she did not here
I usually say the Canadian price when I just purchased the item because I have the receipt right in front of me but this time I didn’t so I just did a quick google search for the price.

I think Dior for the face 🌞 and Chanel for the eyes 💚
Good choice.
I received my lilac eyeshadow today. Your eyeshadow look is beautiful. I will try not to purchase any makeup w/only a 6 month shelf life, especially since luxury makeup is such an investment. 🦚
Right? The only cosmetic that should be tossed out in 6 months is mascara.
