  • Hi guys
    link for the lesson: drive.google.com/file/d/1T9ga...
So today I’m going to teach you how to calculate the cooling capacity of an air conditioning unit using this random example that I prepared for you here.
So, 8500cfm of air is entering the air conditioning unit at conditions 1 which are 25°CDB/21°CWB
And exit this cooling coil at 12°CDB and relative humidity of 95%.
From the first law of thermodynamics, we know that the heat transfer rate (in this case is the cooling capacity) is equal to the mass flow of the dry air multiply by enthalpy difference,
And the mass flow of the dry air is equal to the Volume rate flow divided by the Specific Volume
We place equation 2 inside equation 1 and we get this equation.
So now we will place the data in the formula,
since this example in SI units kg,m,s
We put the volume air flow at CFM here-multiply it by 1.7 and divide it by 3600 to convert it to cubic meters per second.
As for the rest-lets go here to the psychrometric chart:
The rule is that We can represent any conditions of air by a point on the psychrometric chart once two independent properties are known.
Here we put the enthalpy deference from the chart and here we put the Specific Volume at the entrance that is from point 1. And we get that the cooling capacity for this condition is 137KW, we can multiply it by 3412 and receive the answer in BTU/Hr.
One more thing: in this example we have neglected the water that that has drained from the system
Since it has little effect on the result. You can see the full example with taking in account the Drained water
Compared with this one at the attached lesson.
If you get value from this movie, give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel.
Have a nice day and see you soon
    Bye bye
