It boggles the mind to be looking at a Roman coin that has laid in the dirt for 1800 years. I love that you are so knowledgeable about history! Congratulations!!!
Though you be laying down you are still outstanding in your field John 😁
Outstanding in his field in Perthshire
Love to see the Roman after the oil soak! Special short episode seems appropriate! Thanks!
The French coin is an aluminum coin made 1942-1945 a WW2 occupation coin, on the front it says "Travail, Famille, Patrie" on the backside it says "Etate Française"

I'm just a war history nerd ;) who also lived in France for 5 years.
Amazing finds John!! Well done to you! I am finally getting used to metal detecting, found 7 coins, 2 buckles and button this weekend, my best amount of finds in one go so far! Thank you for all your knowledge and help in my new found hobby 😊

Ebay is a rich source of such things.

22:20 Divus Antoninus Pius memorial/commemorative (died AD 161) silver coin. Reverse side, Consecratio (funeral pyre). BEAUTIFUL!
I don’t live in Scotland, I don’t have a metal detector, and with my bum leg I couldn’t even walk in the field with you. But i love your channel, watching what you find, and hearing you share your knowledge. Love your podcasts and i look forward to each and every one!

Great day John, rest your back while sitting on your laurels for doing a stunning job today. Thanks for sharing, just awesome!!
The history you teach gives each find so much more meaning…😊
It is always a great day if the Scottish Detectorist starts with a wee lie down. Truly an awesome day, John. Not any Roman ruins in Texas, but there are old Spanish settlements, though I have not found anything related to them, I guess they have been detected too much. Congratulations on a spectacular day. Greetings from Texas.
The 2 Franc coin is from (German occupied) Vichy France, 1942-1944, and is made from aluminium. Larger denominations had Petain's head on the obverse.
I’m so delighted for you
French, (Vichy France) Aluminium 2 Franc coin from about 1943. No longer spendable, the French currency was revalued in January 1960, not to mention the adoption of the Euro in January 1999.
Roman coin wow! Greetings from Oregon!
Congratulations on the Roman and other great finds.
An excellent day, made better by doing what you love.
And a good day for us being able to join you on your adventures.
Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations, a wonderful find! It truly is incredible to think that no human hands touched it for 1800 years, and then it was in yours 🤩
Congratulations on all the lovely finds! The “Royal Flush” run was especially fun! But the Roman coin was really special!

2 francs WW2 Era. Still watching, waiting for the big find!!
Flowing hair Brad 😎
@@JPDaigle well gosh I have no idea what you're talking about 😂
yeah that's a 2 frank coin from Vichy France. "Travail, Famille, Patrie" replacing "Liberte Egalite Fraternite". There's a story there
Awesome beyond belief! it waited a long, long time for you! A Beauty!!!!!! Antoninus Pious had some good looking coins. Congratulations! Splendid find! 😁😍🥰
Your French coin two francs are from the facsist Vichy government of France. The leader was A guy called Petain. The motto on the obverse is travaille famille Patri which translates as work family and nation. And the coin is not issued from the republished francaise but from simply France.
Wow that was great find,1800 years and you found it. Thanks for sharing, John.
Getting old? You don’t know the worst of it! 😂
Well done from Perth Western Australia
well done on the roman denarius nice finds
What a find! very cool 😎. Also thank you for mentioning Canada with regard to Paschendale. You also mentioned Ypres and Dieppe. Three major battles in which Canada lost too many brave men
Thanks for the new video!💪❤️
Always waiting for that notification 😜
What a brilliant day John, perfect weather, perfect finds, and well behaved XP DEUS 2, so happy for you, cheers!!! whenever you find musket balls I think of Simon and his "must have been a lot of angry people in this field"🥰🥰😘💕👍👍👍👍🙏
What a wee stoater of a Roman! Congrats on a great day 😍
Exciting news! The inclusion of Rose number [211] beautifully symbolizes our collaborative efforts in this creative garden at CoinEra. Let's continue nurturing this shared space together! 🌹🌷🌼 Thank you for being an integral part of it! 😊💖
Awesome day for you! I was thinking that it would be cool to find a Charles! 😂 what a run of monarchs, and the icing was the Roman coin!
What a good coin day.! So pleased you got that lovely Roman silver.! Great stuff buddy. Bless up 👊
Take care of your back !!
Great! Roman silver, how awesome! You've not lost your touch...💥
The Bendy Thumb NEVER loses its touch!
The silver Roman coin is a true treasure! And that French coin is actually quite a find. How did a WWII coin from the Nazi backed Vichy government find its way to Scotland? République Française was replaced with État Français and Libérté Fraternité Égalité was replaced with Travail Famille Patrie. The Nazis installed a puppet leader at Vichy, a WWI hero Maréchal Philippe Pétain. The actual leader of France was Charles De Gaulle who was in exile in London.
Cracking Roman find John. Your luck is changing towards roman again. There has to be more there and we are still waiting for you to discover that hoard, it will come I'm sure. Good luck bud and HH.
WOW!!! What a day!! Congratulations on all your great finds, especially the Roman silver coin!

Epic day John. Congratulations!
George V coins are abundant 😂 Kept the mint busy.
Silver!! So awesome to see the Roman coin find. Thanks for another great video John.
Congratulations John 🎉 Beautiful Roman! Great video.
Wow. I actually have that same posthumous issue denarius of Antoninus Pius. Nice find! Really fun to see one coming from the ground. Mine came from CNG in 1998. It was only 30USD at the time, but it has no provenance. I love how the UK rules help preserve the history. DIVVS (Divus) ANTONINO or some variation.. not DEUS. Yes, CONSECRATIO / Pyre.
You find the most interesting coins, and I just love following along 👍👏👏👏
YAY Scottish Detectorist!! Congratulations on your exciting amazing finds!!
