The church of England also consider 5th January to be the 12th day of Christmas, along with the majority of others. So don't know why you are picking out the BBC?
@@Manticore1960 Because that's where I heard it the other day. There's a reason in the song "The 12 days of Christmas". If you count the number of gifts, the total is 364. That's one for every day EXCEPT Christmas day because on that day the gift to the world is the baby Jesus. Therefore the 12 days of Christmas does not include Christmas Day. The confusion has come about because of the change in the definition of the start of a day (previously sundown in the same fashion used in Jewish and Muslim religions) but it's too long to go into here (unless you want to here it).
