A word to the wise. As your lift is towable, when you are not at the house make sure it is either locked in your garage or at least immovable. Like up on its legs, 3rd wheel removed, and chained/locked up. Had a similar large piece of equipment stolen from me once where the thieves just backed a truck up to it, hitched it up, and drove off. Cost me a pretty penny to replace it too. I'll never make that mistake again.
It's up on it's legs, under a Simplisafe camera and the yard is chained shut. It won't fit in the garage. It's also put in there backwards so the hitch is facing towards the garage.
I was thinking the exact same thing for the same reason. Invest in good , heavy duty tire locks or like Dr. Rotwang suggested, remove the means to roll it anywhere when you aren't actively using it.
Also, if it's not going to be used over the winter and not moved at all, put the frame on blocks and remove the tires. No self respecting thief is going to go through all the trouble of putting tires on it.
13 years ago I lost my dog, Mya, to liver cancer. I was never going to get so attached again. My family brought me a Lab mix. I was actually angry. BUT, she was so cute. She's now 13 and I know we don't have much longer. Dogs are more than family, they're angels.
Same reason I don't have a cat or dog, but also as I'm 65 I really don't want to go & leave a pet behind confused as to y I don't come back. I got mom's Yorkie & I Thought he had moved on. A year & half later I went to a family reunion & he took off & RAN across a Large yard to a lady who looked like mom! Almost cried realizing he Hadn't gotten past her ditching him. (I now watch cute cat & dog videos) 💕
@@marshawargo7238 Marsha, 65 isn't too old to get a new pet, My dad got a puppy when he was 80. Sweet dog, died at 14. Dad lived to 97. If your still pretty healthy, and would like a dog or cat, if You prefer, you could always rescue an older pet, say 5 6 7 years old. I rescued a 10 year old wonderful male cat. Had him 8 years, lost him this june. Its hard loosing them for sure, i still think i see him coming around the corner at night.. but 18 years is a good run for a cat or dog.
Kaleb. I'm glad to know the Maria Theresa style chandelier made it safe and I thank Laura for bringing it. I know you like histories for your items. I can't say anything about where it originally hung other than it was probably in Terre Haute, Indiana. In 1992 I literally found it there in a dumpster, intact with almost all of the prisms still hanging on it. The dumpster belonged to a friend and could be easily accessed by the public. He had no idea who threw it away. I brought it home in hopes of finding a good home for it. I have finally done so. I'm really looking forward to seeing it sparkling in place. As you say, Tomorrow isn't given, but if it does come to pass, I do plan to see you again. All the best to you both in this journey.
The lady who gave you the antique books, doorknobs, etc. must really adore you. I think the upholstery on your chair and settee looks fantastic already!!
When my dog Susie passed away three years ago of the cancer of the spleen it was devastating. After 12 years of having this beautiful animal in my life, and coming home to her beautiful face that was always happy and joyful to see me. Then to only come home to a silence that was deafening . No more what I hear her little patter of her feet or would I ever be comforted when I was sad by her putting her paw on my lap. I miss her every day. I know that I can get another dog, however I’ll never have another her Susie my love.😔
My lovely eddie died 11 years ago and i still mourn him once in a while. I was 4 when we got him so he was a brother to me. I am so sorry about susie, i am sure you gave her a wonderful life ❤️

Aww I’m sorry to hear about your grandparents’ dog. Dogs and cats are such a special part of the family. In my opinion I don’t think you need to change anything about the settee and chairs. I can just see them in the house when it’s finished 🙂
As somebody that loves old books, I remember reading a book decades ago called "The Great Cyclone of 1896" about the tornado that devastated St. Louis back then... lots of spectacular photos, it would be absolutely a must for your library!

Hey man, I have been bing watching all the videos in the renovation playlist and I finally arrived at the present :D I just want to say what you are doing is really cool and I like the way you restore the building and preserving as much as you can. The victorian era is one of the most interesting and exciting times I really like the design and esthetics. The hard work you do is insane and I know it must not be easy all the time. I hope everyhting works out the way you want to. Thanks you for the cool videos. Greetings from germany

I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandparents dog. I definitely know the loss, and as you get older these losses hit harder. Praying for you all. The books, doorknobs, lamps and chandelier are all so beautiful. I love books like that! The people who donated them are wonderful! Regarding that big lift, how will you keep it safe? I hope that nobody steals it. Wishing you, Kim and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving!

“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.” - John Lennon There's no sense in getting upset or frustrated; just hang on for the ride.
Perhaps the wood on the settee and chair is mahogany, but it is difficult to tell without seeing it "in the flesh" so to speak. The other items Caleb showed us are so exciting and will do much to put the finishing touches on the house. It is wonderful that people are moved to donate these things and shows the affection we all feel for Caleb and Kim, such unaffected and charming people.
Hi Kaleb and Kim! Prayers for your grandparents for the loss of their fur baby. It is never easy to say good bye. Happy Thanksgiving! May your week be full of blessings!♡
We also have 3, our boy is about 13 years old, we rescued him. My girls are 2 they’re sisters that are malamute husky mixes. Glad you’re there for your grandparents
FYI - prying things up (nails, boards, etc) is always easier with a hammer or wrecking bar with a curved fork. (The curve does all the work). You're using a framing hammer which is made much more for putting nails in, than pulling them out.
I'm so sorry to hear about your family's loss. Our beloved pets are indeed family members and the loss of one of them is just as tragic as any other loss would be.
So sorry for your grandparents loss.As an older adult the loss seems greater. They really are our babies. Lost my precious Parker boy in July. Still grieving. Kim you are so cute as the model for the security system! Just love you both! So glad Kaleb got that lift. He scares me climbing around those windows.
Loved the Simply Safe commercial. Kim's little dance and Caleb as "the thief" LOL. Hey doesn't Simply Safe offer a Westlake style? (I know Caleb will think of a clever way to disguise it.) Congrats on the sponsor! The can is Indian Head Beer by Iroquois Brewing, 1930s.
I'm so sorry about the loss of your grandparents dog!! There are few things as bad as loosing a pet, yet our love for them will someday feel their absence. Love to your Grandpa and Grandma!!!
You would probably like the TH-cam channel Ghost Town Living. Brent has a similar philosophy to you in terms of preservation and respecting the history of a place (good or bad). I think you would love getting into the rabbit hole in that this channel is. Happy holidays!
Look at you, Kim! Spokesmodel material, for sure! 💕 So many lovely things given by so many lovely, kind-hearted people! This is just the sweetest channel! I can hardly wait to see Kim start work on her next cleaning project - that gorgeous chandelier and the pretty crystal lamps. What a great deal on the chair and settee! They’re beautiful! So sorry to hear of your and your grandparents’ loss. It’s never easy to lose a pet. I think because they live without judgment, we allow ourselves to bond absolutely with them so that they become like a bit of our own souls. When they are lost, it’s truly soul-rending. Looking forward to what you have in store for us on Thursday and wishing you and Kim and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🧡🍂💛🌾🥧🌽🦃🌽🥧🌾💛🍂🧡
Thrilled you're now able to work on the house full time and you've got the big boy machine lift. As resourceful as you were and thrilling as it was to watch you in an abseil harness dangling out the windows, the lift will lend a steady close up hand on those aerial jobs. My condolences to your grandma, I recommend "Dog Heaven", a wonderful children's book by Cynthia Rylant, to dog lovers of all ages. I know she would appreciate it.
Please pass on my love to your grandmother. As mom to several fur babies over the years, I totally understand the pain the loss of a beloved family member - and they are family, 100%. Also, never apologise for your timescales. We are happy to watch along at whatever pace suits you. Love from Nottingham, UK
There are so many truly good, kind and generous people in this world. It’s heartwarming to see how many people - total strangers, who send you gifts and even travel long distances to come help you with their valuable time. I think seeing all of that is my favorite part of this whole restoration.
So happy you have a sponsor for today's video!! Your channel is doing well thanks to your hard workl. You seem like very nice people and I feel happy for you
So sorry about your grandparents dog. I gave our little yorkie and extra hug and a piece of fancy cheese for you. I love, love, love those books, so beautiful
No... no dogs ... but I had dogs growing up. I have cats. 2 of them. Sorry for your loss... Hope you have a safe and wonderful Holiday. Love watching you work... not sure why... maybe because of my own love for all things old and beautiful... the architecture of old was so amazing... and the details they put into things was just wonderful. And probably because I always helped my Papa work on things around our old house growing up... I just love old houses.
I'm sorry for the loss of your grandparents dog, every dog owner knows how much it hurts, maybe thinking about the good times will make it a little easier. Your simply safe 'commercial' was awesome. And those books and gifts are very beautiful. You and Kim deserve every one of them!
Great SimpliSafe add, Kim you’re a natural, they should hire you as their spokesperson! I recognized the Iroquois Beer label right away, it was brewed in my home town of Buffalo, NY. I am so sorry about your grandparents dog, as a dog and cat lover, my heart goes out to you. I look forward to all the videos that you and Kim put out, keep up the good work! Happy Thanksgiving guys!
My son, and a friend of mine, who were both in the Navy, gave some advice for cleaning brass. One is a product called "Never Dull". My son says it's rolled up like a rope coil. You tear some off, open it up, and wipe the brass with it You can then return the used piece back in the container or package to use again. The brass will turn black, but after a few minutes, you wipe the brass with a soft cloth, and it shines brilliantly. It's a little pricey, but you can reuse your pieces for quite awhile. For brass that's not attached to something (like a loose doorknob), the best brass cleaner is Kool-Aid. Yep - just make a gallon of Kool-Aid, sugar and all; drop your brass in and let it set for awhile. When you pull it out, it shines like new money. No muss, no fuss, no toxic fumes.
Yes it was exciting! Wiring going in, security installed. Beautiful books and chandeliers given. And what a score on the loveseat and chair! They are beautiful. You did good! Thank you for the update. I am sorry for the loss of a family pet. It is very hard to let go of them.
My friend owns an antique shop and hangs the chandeliers from a old ladder hung from the rafters and the lights hang from vintage meat hooks (from the butcher). She can hang about 6 lights from it. Sturdy and easily removed when no longer needed.
Sadly she is about to close the store. Loss of revenue from the pandemic was too much to survive. I feel it would be wrong to post a video knowing it will be gone by the end of the year.
What wonderful gifts, especially the books, they will be so nice in the library. Hope your grandparents are Okay, it is so hard when you lose your best friend and companion. The chandelier will be gorgeous in Kim's craft room. So glad you got the lift, your work will be so much faster and safer. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and will see you after the holidays.
I still love your project and I am always hyped about the new video to see the house getting more and more finished. So satisfying. Greetings from europe, germany 👍

Guys, I'm so sorry for the loss you your grandparents dog. I understand the grieving process after the loss of a four legged family member. I'm excited to see your sponsor SimpliSafe. That is awesome for you to be sponsored. Congratulations! You're making good progress on the wiring. It won't be long before you can flip those switches and plug in tools and accessories. These are exciting times for you and Kim. I have a question concerning paint for the interior outside walls. I have learned from watching you that the brick and plaster walls have to breath. So, what is the correct paint to use over the plaster, so the brick can still breathe?

I'm so sorry about the loss of your grandparents dog!! There are few things as bad as loosing a pet, yet our love for them will someday feel their absence. Love to your Grandpa and Grandma!!!
Wow thank you to everybody who donated These amazing items to Kaleb. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. 🍁🦃🍂
You would probably like the TH-cam channel Ghost Town Living. Brent has a similar philosophy to you in terms of preservation and respecting the history of a place (good or bad). I think you would love getting into the rabbit hole in that this channel is. Happy holidays!
We are huge fans of Brent!
Look at you, Kim! Spokesmodel material, for sure! 💕
So many lovely things given by so many lovely, kind-hearted people!
All those books will look great in your library. Love the door knobs. That crystal Chandler is beautiful.
At the end you mentioned that the video wasn't that exciting, but I love watching your videos to relax, and it's very relaxing and entertaining.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Maria Theresa chandeliers are awesome! An extensive rewire project, but so satisfying!
So sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences and hug your grandparents for me.
So happy you have a sponsor for today's video!! Your channel is doing well thanks to your hard workl. You seem like very nice people and I feel happy for you
One thing I like about your weekly videos is, I never know what I will be seeing......
So sorry about your grandparents dog. I gave our little yorkie and extra hug and a piece of fancy cheese for you. I love, love, love those books, so beautiful
I'm Very Sorry for Your Family's Loss.
Loved the 1970's music vibe in this video
No... no dogs ... but I had dogs growing up.
Thinking of your grandparents at this time 💐
Love to you all
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Great gifts sent to you. Nice settee and chair. Congratulations on the bucket lift. Enjoyed. Sorry for your loss.
The candle stick light is called a mantle Luster..They came in pairs. Don't think I ever saw one electrfied.
Please put a video of the antique store on your TH-cam page LOL!
Great idea 💡
Sadly she is about to close the store. Loss of revenue from the pandemic was too much to survive. I feel it would be wrong to post a video knowing it will be gone by the end of the year.
That's too bad-I love antique stores and they even sell stuff on eBay.
where is the store?
so great to see Kim. Hang the chandels from the bsmt rafters with some caution tape hangingbeside em. no need to build anything right away.
I agree!
4:35 the dichotomy between the K & T wiring, and your 21st Century smartphone is startling.
Love to be able to sit in your library and read those books.
Come on over!
I still love your project and I am always hyped about the new video to see the house getting more and more finished. So satisfying. Greetings from europe, germany 👍
Yay! Thank you!
Game changer with that lift! NICE!! Happy Thanksgiving kiddo!! Gobble Gobble !!
Kim is definitely the Vanna White of the TH-cam sponsor ads. lLove it!
So sorry for the loss of a beloved pet. Hope your family has a blessed holiday season. Look forward to things to come!
Haha! I never took Caleb for a porch thief 🤣
Lots of wiring done. Such wonderful gifts of books, door knobs wow the chandelier is going to be so beautiful after Kim does her magic. Happy Thanksgiving to you both
So, so sorry about your grandparents' furbaby 😢 Animals are family just as much as people. So freakin excited to see the wiring going in!! So dang happy John came to help you in the last video! Wonderful gifts from all your friends! You deserve all the good things in life, Kaleb!!! Take care and have a lovely Thanksgiving!
Our fur babies, Phyllis ( 16 yr. Old Chihuahua) & Lola ( 1 yr. Old red dappled Weiner dog 😊) sending puppy kisses to your grandparents Kaleb.
I completely understand how you feel about the dog passing. My cat's were like children to me and although I lost my last baby girl nearly two years ago I still deeply miss her xx
That house is a monster, Victorian takes on a new dimension of horror . Good luck!
Sorry to hear about your grandparents fur baby. Ours are part of our family too. The loss is painful. 🙏 Very nice gifts and like the chair and setee. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.
Sympathies to grandma & grandpa.
I've been marathoning your channel while tending to my ailing 20 year old cat. She passed away on the 3rd of December. I'm shattered.
Your videos have helped to divert my mind for brief moments through this grief.
Thank you.
My Sympathies to you as well. Glad I could help in some small way. Losing a pet and friend is never easy.
@@The2ndEmpireStrikesBack Thank you.
You are both very special people and that shines through in your videos and in the community that you have built with this endeavor.
I look forward to watching your progress and the final result.
Love from Canada.
SimpliSafe! Never heard of them but I will check them out. Thanks to you!
A fascinating ponder of mine is to imagine how this Lovely House was built. What were their modern tools and how big was the crew?
Oh, that would be an amazing history lesson.
Peace and safety on your excellent adventure!
Can't help myself.
You are dismantling not " doing demo!"
Now it's it like you re-mantel with gifts from the universe.
Thank you and may all good things find a place.
So sorry for y'all's loss of Buddy. Sending y'all healing energy.
I am so sorry about the loss of your family member. I love animals!! There is nothing better in life than a pet. I know how you're feeling. It is heartbreaking!
Oh my you guys get some of the best items. Such devoted people. Love them all. So nice to have the cameras set-up. You needed that. Happy Thanksgiving guys!
Those chairs are gorgeous
Little by little, look back at what you and Kim have been able to accomplish! Thanks again for allowing all of us to be a part of this amazing journey! HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and to your family! Be safe my friends!
So, what is the correct paint to use over the plaster, so the brick can still breathe?
mineral paint
So sorry about your precious fur baby.😔
We have 3 furries, too! We hugged them, as you asked, along with our ginger cat, 2 bunnies and 2 Cockatiels!
Yes, we love our pets! ❤
🐶🐕🐕🐱🐇🐰🦜🦜
Lady Brown deserves security! Very nice sponsorship. Kim, you are HILARIOUS! Thanks for the giggles :) lol
Nice new toy maybe you'll get to use it a little bit before the bad weather really hits I know the snow is right around the corner it's probably already snowed there but there'll be a lot of work getting done come spring 👍😁
Hi Caleb, I’m not sure if you will see this message. But I found an antique shop that has a lot of real finds. It’s in Virginia though. I visited it during my birthday party. It’s called Penniston’s Alley Antiques located in Petersburg VA. The shop is is a 200 year old building and it sells many old times. The owner has been collecting them for over 50 years. I know it may be a little far from you. Love your channel and wishing you all the best! 🥰
EDIT: yay!! Thank you for seeing my message! 🥰
I'm so sorry about Buddy 💜 You wrote me a nice reply when our dog passed a few months ago and I really appreciated it. It's really difficult.
Sending my condolences to you and your family on the loss of your grandparents fur baby😔🐾🌈🐾 always great content and this didn’t disappoint 😊 as we say here in Windsor Ontario Canada which is right across the river from Detroit city we wish you a Happy American Thanksgiving 🦃🍗 enjoy every minute with your family😃
