God I loved playing this on my 360. As far as I'm concerned this was the third movie in my head canon.

At the time of its release, I thought it was so weird that a Ghostbusters game was dropping, it was 2009, Ghostbusters 3 was in development hell still, and it had no other media presence, but surprisingly, both the 360/PS3 and the Wii version were good,, but this was as close to Ghostbusters 3 as we can get, especially since we lost Harold Ramis.
(Yeah, Terminal Reality has been dead since 2013, killed by a combination of Kinect Star Wars and The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts)
I thought the wii version was awesome! One of the few wii games that actually use the wii mote to it full potential. I was hoping that the switch version would have used joy cons , but darn.
Dan Acaroyd and Bill Murry have both said this is ghostbusters 3.
This was technically a third movie because Dan and Harold Ramis wrote the script to be a virtual successor to the movies
I played both the original and remaster on pc, never seen that bug where it's not showing the intro cinematics.
No kidding eh? I am curious if the progression bug in the PS3 version was fixed though, it was the only thing preventing me from attaining 100% completion.
Its also running a bit suspect... If I was him I'd re-install it haha!

Fun Fact: in the game, crossing the stream actually does A LOT of damage to the enemies, like almost instant kill, and I love doing it every time, sure you get knocked back doing it but it’s worth it.
Better yet, on the 360 version at least if you cut the stream just as the blast goes off, it doesn't flow back to you so you take no damage.
I love this game with all my heart. I’m so glad it got remastered.

Its weird that the PC version is weirdly remastered. The switch version doesn't have the cutscene bug
I think it may be an operating system incompatibility issue. Bets on Matt is running Windows 10, IIRC this Ghostbusters game was already ported to PC but specifically for Windows 7. Kind of like how vanilla Fallout 3 has issues running on Windows 10 PCs because it was deved on early Windows 7.

Missed opportunity with this game to have character creation, would’ve been neat to have seen what OC ghostbusters players would’ve come up with.
I mean the ps2/wii/etc. port did have a choice between male and female.

@@qwellen7521 No not really, I'm pretty sure the original developers just didn't think of the idea and the other developers who where making the previous gen port thought it would be fun to add a gender option. Think of it like minecraft where (initially) the idea just wasn't really thought of until later when microsoft bought mojang.
Slimer officially has no real background, but as a joke canon he's been described as the "Ghost of John Belushi". There's also a Marvel comic that says he was an obese king, which is really strange. I personally go with the "John Belushi" answer.
Also yes, they absolutely fight Cthulhu in the show, as well as the Boogeyman and the actual Christmas ghosts. That show was so good ^^
IIRC the original game was released by Atari, back when they had enough money to put a big banner on the LA convention center for E3.
Bill Murray said he agreed to voice this as a favor to Harold Ramis, I assume that's the only reason any of them came back.
The older game never had these bugs I played it. This newer one seems to be badly remastered.

That was a bug at the start, the menu is meant to start out side the ghostbusters building and when you go into career it goes into the garage, when you hit new new career it was meant to play 2 cutscenes.

I'd have to say that this game doesn't really get all that repetitive, thanks to it introducing new enemy types in basically every level, as well as having weapon variants on the proton pack.

I never got that cutscene glitch. Kinda sucks, the cutscenes are my favorite part of the game other than actually catching lol.
For some reason, I love the idea of a world ending entity like Vigo being reduced to office decor and powerless, but is still able to talk mad shit like a pro.
Btw the Real Ghostbusters series straight up had Cthulhu in a episode. No stand in or anything. I would actually recommend casually watching the series if you have time. Lot of good stuff there.
"That really made me feel good" was pretty much my feeling when I played this game back in the day - felt like a kid again pretending to be a ghostbuster, yes a flawed game but for Ghostbusters fans this will forever be the real Ghostbusters 3!!

For a game that has an all-star cast and enormous icon status behind it, it's also bizarrely tragically underrated. One of the absolute best "based on a movie" games I've ever played.
Of course it is. The gameplay is fun and the script was written by Harold Ramis. It also is in the official canon of the Ghostbusters films.
The original release was put out by Atari. Q*Bert's appearance in the movie and this game is a bit of corporate synergy: The Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, which puts out the Ghostbusters movies, also owns Q*Bert thanks to the studio's purchase of Gottlieb.
That's one of the weirdities of corporate structure: Q*Bert actually belongs to Sony Pictures, not SCE. That's why updates of Q*Bert have been put out on non-PlayStation hardware.
He definitely has a bad version. Not sure if the pc has a bad port. But ps4 i have isn't broken like this is
Had the og on ps3, the Wii version, and got the ps4 remaster a while back :) one of my favorite just. Feel good games.
I got this on PS3 when it came out originally! Loved it! It was such a great piece of fan service! Now we need a The Real Ghostbusters game!

So that's weird, I played the OG wii then ps3, and got this Switch version. Never had issues with that version funny enough and I played the game Halloween weekend. Its a tradition for me.
I remember playing this on the Wii, It was so damn fun waving the Wiimote around to slam the ghosts to hell and back. I do agree with you on it getting repetitive, especially towards the ending, the final 3 "Episodes" of the game, Which contained this island, a revisit to the Sedgwick, and then the final fight, got a lil... bleh. Especially the Island level, which is just a Sewer Level but bad, even if there were like fifty dozen pipelines of neon ghost jizz to make it look like a weird cyberpunk rave sewer.
I loved this game back in the day.
damn shame the cutscenes weren't available, really did add a ton to the game
loved this on the 360, but i was SHOCKED to see this with the big yikes of a bootup at the beginning because my remastered download on the SWITCH of all things had no issues like that :(

I played the PS3 version a couple of times and there definitely were cutscenes with full voice over. What you’re experiencing doesn’t look normal.
THERE WAS A CTHULHU EPISODE. It was called The Collect Call of Cthulhu and their Cthulhu design was W I L D
Strange, I have no troubles with cutscenes on PC. But game does not save settings and opened artifacts and ghosts...
That's what happened to me back when i played the PS3 version, i wonder if they fixed it on consoles though. 🤔

I picked up the remastered version on the Switch. Good game all around.
That is so weird. like it's supposed to be showing a cutscene. not yellow dialogue and the oil stained garage floor. I watched a friend stream this recently, and his wasn't this buggy..

Yeah, there was a Cthulhu stand-in in one of the episodes named 'Cathulhu' that appears ion the appropriately named "The Collect Call of Cathulhu".
Got the switch version no problems with it no glitches plays well in handheld mode

That was weird, i played the game recently (the remastered) and never came across with that kind of bug , even in my shitty pc.

That glitch at the beginning was weird. I have yet to see that with the remaster.
There are times in this game where I don’t know where to go or what to do like one sewer section near the end of the game where I’m locked in a room and the game tells me to drain an ocean of black slime but it doesn’t tell me how to do it or what to look for.
But this was a fun game before Luigi’s mansion 3 came out last year.
You have to use the green slime from your pack to drain the black slime
@@mannyrobles3065 I know that but it was like an arena and in the center was an ocean of black slime and no matter what I did I couldn’t drain the room. I could knock the concrete off pillars, break boxes, toss metal barrels.
I assumed that it was a soft lock bug and never played it again.

So, from what I can remember the original cast was pretty involved. I think Dan Ackroid said the script for a video game was about 3000 pages compared to a movie at about 200. The whole thing added elements from his original ideas for the movie that were just beyond what any budget could afford at the time.
I was speaking with someone about that time, back in the old msn days who worked on it. I can't remember too.many details of what was said though, other than coop being scrapped for more stuff on screen blowing up.
100% right the wii/ps2 version looks better. Aged better too.
Sadly this version is alot like Alan Wake, Amazing story but very repetitive gameplay.

I do feel like a truely great ghostbusters game could be a mixture of this and something akin to XCOM. I’d probably be in the minority but I wish more IP stuff would make the little menusha of franchise represented w/ mechanics. A ghostbusters game should have business sim elements, in the same way I’d love to see a Spider-Man game to have dating sim/visual novel mechanics or how a open world Batman game should have a day/night cycle with a dead rising style countdown clock.
There's a decent-ish attempt at an X-Com style GB game on Steam called Ghost Control. It's got business elements in it like the classic GB game from the 80's. It's worth it, if you can get it cheap.

I like this game, but I'm just gonna say it: I would've rather had a game based on The Real Ghostbusters, provided that Frank Welker wouldn't mind voicing Venkman since Lorenzo Music had died years earlier.
The cutscenes are meant to have full video, not just text. I think it’s something wrong with the PC port or your version has glitched out or something. It plays fine on PS4 and Xbox One.
I would really love for you to a ‘Wha Happn’ on this game, after the merger between Activision and Vavindi and then being picked up by a dying Atari, it’s honestly a miracle that it exists in the first place.
Oh and Harold Ramis’ surname is pronounced ‘Ray-miss’ not ‘Rammy’.

Really, really enjoyed this when it came out despite being aware some of the controls were ... challenging. Probably came down to a combination of loving the original IP, and also having pretty low expectations due to the nature of how it came about, and how production had been halted on it at least once. That said, given that it felt a little clunky when it came out, when I finally played the remaster on Switch, it definitely hasn't aged too gracefully. Still fun, but not as fun as I remembered.
I think the load screen and Cutscene skipping is with the PC release, I played the Xbox One remaster and it didn't have that problem
PS4 and Switch also doesn't have the issue. So either a issue with his PC or the PC version itself.
I played the Xbox 360 version and, while it was a good game, it will forever remain in my memory as that game I couldn't get all of the achievements for because of a bug that prevented two of them from working. It did later get a patch that made it possible to get them all... unless you already played the game. So for those who wanted to get those last achievements, those who were asking for the patch in the first place, the patch was useless.

Yeah the port you're playing skipped a ton of really important cutscenes?? I played it all the way through on PS3 originally and Switch last year and I've never seen that bug before :o

Played this remaster recently and it's a buggy mess. I couldn't even play with Kb/M as it would crash to desktop when I tried to load in. It's a shame as it's a good game. If the team put some love into this remaster it could of been glorious!

The original 360 release had background loading. So it never cut to the car to load. Thats wierd that the remaster doesn't do that
The Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch doesn't have same issues he had with cutscenes. So I assume it's either a issue with his PC or just an issue with the PC port. I have watched other people play the Remaster on PC and they didn't have the issue. So kinda hard to say what it is for sure.
I really should finish writing my Ghostbusters ttrpg campaign and round up some players..

I had both the Wii and 360 one. I preferred the cartoonish style of the Wii but the 360 one was ok
So, for the record, the title screen is NOT supposed to look like that, it's supposed to be on the outside of the building. Something is very wrong with this port... Maybe just play the original.

The Only Problem I have with the Remaster is the Cutscenes. The CGI cutscenes look beautiful but the in-game cutscenes look horrible. I Still Love this Game Though
At least Harold Ramis lives on in the game, the remaster was glitchy the first release was better. The original did have online which was a laugh.
