Hi Jimmy, the blank bit in the middle threw me off at first but I'm guessing it wasn't ment to be in there. They are coming along nicely now ain't they. I probably going toset some away at the end of the month and then again when it warm up a little bit as I don't think they will stand much chance outside.
You are right Jamie mate, the video was supposed to finish at the page turn for the end, unfortunately i forgot to delete it. Just went into the youtube studio to edit it out but it take a while from there. Yeah i was surprised at how well they are doing.Best of luck when you sow them mate
Great video Jimmy. How long would you expect the seeds to take to germinate with and without heat? I know that you had germination after 4 days with heat.. but I wonder is it the same as your normal bog standard size onion? Also just an afterthought but what are you going to do with all these giant onions next year when they are all fully grown? 😂 Also how do you decide when to pot them on the very first time? Is it the height or the width or length of time? Sorry for all the questions think I just need to research how to grow giant onions instead of hammering everyone with loads of questions haha😅
Laura You prick them out at the crook stage, just like a Shepard's crook, but to be honest it won't make much difference if you wait till you get the first true leaf growing. Hope that helps you. 👍👍👍👍👍
as you say Laura these second lot i sowed i had germination in 4 days, the first ;lot were in 6 days, but my cold sowing took nearly 4 weeks before i seen any sign of germination. Eat the onions lol, although the giants arent as strong / pungent as standar onions they still taste nice. As Mark says, asking questions is how we ALL learn and contrary to popular belief, there is no STUPID questions. Potting them on ? either the roots are at the bottom of the pot/ module OR they have straightened themselves up from the crook stage. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you want, if i can answer them i will.
