Very nice. I've ordered 2 bee boxes and may use one for a combo amp too! A suggestion for the added handle: Instead of mounting it with the strap flat, move the mounts an inch or so closer together so that the handle is pushed up in the middle to allow easy grabbing access.
Very cool! Saw the same video and working on a similar project. It’ll be sideways with a pair of 8” speakers. There’s a 4 frame bee “nuc” box I’ll be using for a head. It’s such a fun project!
From the thumbnail I thought you'd cut out that bee in wood and glued it to/over the speaker grill. I was going to be(e) like HOLY SHIT that's amazing! lol. Still, this is an awesome project. I have two amps I want to do the same thing with. An ART 80/80, and the GK 250ML which needs a 100watt 2x12 stereo cabinet.
Honestly it looks pretty cool BUT, you need to port the box. Cut a 6" strip out of the back of the box, you can always' reattach it if you don't like it but when that cone moves that air has to go somewhere. Bass notes are attenuated and highs are muted, the trapped air acts like a shock absorber and deadens the cone. You could also purchase a couple prefab bass ports and cut them into the front, either way you need vents. I built something similar, mounted the speaker high and installed a floor that was 3" short and 3" off the bottom of the box. I then cut 2 vents into the face of the box in the 3" area at the bottom. Basically copied a Klipsch Cornwall cabinet and OMG what a difference.
