New Bassist here and I want to say thank you for all you do for guys like us. I am a 51 yo truck driver and listen to your podcasts all the time while driving. My goal is to play at church eventually and some jazz with my drum and bugle corps and their small ensembles. I guess playing bass is actually going to be my retirement job. Great job! I feel like I was transported to an other planet where I did not understand the language - but It sounded really good. When you talked about mundane bass lines and " here is the "1", that applies to my friend and I playing together. We have over 150 years of nonmusical life experience - ages 76 (my buddy) and 81 (me) .The basics are shared by what you do so well and what I attempt to do on my bass to accompany my pal as he sings and plays the six string guitar. Chord structure, scales related to those chord tones, approach notes, neighbor note, rhythm etc, yada, yada ... Your course on Triads ( Fretboard Accelerator ) has been most helpful. Keep up the good work. I hope 2024 is a fantastic year for you and yours. Benn of Bellingham
Outstanding musicianship and very fun to listen to. Part of the piece you guys are playing kind of reminds me of Frank Zappa, hey wouldn't that be a good topic for a future podcast?
