That room is prolly the main reason i love vintage tech. Jamming out to this song on that ancient record player is probably one of my favorite memories from that room
1976, the good ole disco days! I was a 7 year old disco diva dancing to this song in school parties, birthday parties and in the skating rinks. Its October 2022 and I still enjoy this guilty pleasure! #IAmDisco
Hope Rick Dees sees this-Memphis TN in the 90's-met Mike DeClerk, that build H D motorcycles, died in 2008. He talked about you often. Finally married Barbara in 75, moved to AR and has 2 children- John 40 and Jennifer 38

I used to call Rick Dees on WBLK? Buffalo, when I was 16 and pumped gas on midnight shift in '73... my beginnings to becoming a DJ, at that age...oh I love reminiscing

honestly don’t see why people dislike this song, it’s catchy, has a good beat, even though the title and the Donald Duck voice sounds stupid, for me it’s a good song
Disco was lighthearted and fun unlike today where everyone is so uptight they can't just let their hair down. It's been true for ages that being a little funny and risque gets you noticed by the opposite sex. But today, young people can't lighten up for fear of being accused of sexual harassment.
The Professor of Rock just had a field day ranting about this song. Honestly, some people just can't take a joke! He acted like it was the end of the world and that the entire art of music was forever cursed because of this song. He totally encapsulates the entire anti-disco crowd of the late 1970s
Yep, I saw his rant. It was disgusting and I let him know this. He was born in 1976 and has no memories of the song hitting #1. I told him to worry about songs in his own era.
During this era Many tough hard rugged Rock music Men while out in public always blurted out Disco Sucks! Once they got alone in the car, when Disco Duck came on the radio, secretly they start bopping their heads singing, Disco-Disco Duck 😂🪩 🦆 👍🏾❤️🔥 🛼
@@januarybaby392 agreed!! As long as he WASN'T CALLING it disco DONALD DUCK he's good on the copyright!! Pretty much anybody that CAN do the voice CAN sound just like Donald...... check out Duckjob..... that's Rick doing comedy and..... yeah just check it out!!!
i'm 24 i used to listen to this one on a tape in the car stereo, i used to listen to tapes in my dad's car cause the radio we had would play tapes only, the tape that i had got lost but i remember this and a few other songs including "daddy cool" by Boney M aswelll as "somebody to love" by jefferson airplane. I think it was some kind of compilation mixtape also the version of this song that was on that tape was much shirter, maybe was less than 3 minutes....anyway thank you for sharing this song, it's the only version i can find that is high quality
There was American series I seen on TH-cam called solid gold but the show had dancers in the UK we had a music show top of the pops that also had dancers the poor dancers had to dressed Up as ducks for the record.
I used to think this song was dumb but listening to this version really changed my mind. Sure the lyrics are goofy but the instruments come together so well. Just a perfect orchestra especially at the beginning.
I've listen to this song a zillion times over the years. I don't own the record in my collection myself, but I always thought that the voice of the duck was done by a fellow by the name of JImmy Weldon. Who did a character voice for the Hanna-Barbera cartoon character Yakky Doodle. Also was the same voice for a puppet called Webster Webfoot. But right there on the record label, it says the voice was done by a fellow by the name of Ken Pruitt. I would love to have someone do a voice comparison to see if it really is Jimmy or Ken.
🥀 To this day (I was a 60s kid) I don't know what to think of this song ! I'm not embarrassed by it, but I can't say I'm proud of it either. Geez, where the heck does that leave me ??? lol 🤭🤷🏻♀️✌🏻

Very true. It came back in 1993.
This is such a funny disco song...Rick Dees just makes me laugh throughout this whole thing LOL!

The bass of this song is awesome and give life to the song. 👍
