IRL Days. A lot of people want to know how many Minecraft days I have but it's not really possible for a few reasons: • When I started playing, statistics for Minecraft were saved globally, not per-world, meaning there was no way to know how much time I spent specifically in this world until late 2013 when they changed it. When the change was made, it was like my world was starting from scratch in terms of playtime • My statistics reset at least once at some point in the past 5 years when my world got corrupted. Over the years I have had world corruption several times and have usually been able to fix it by loading a backup or importing an old level.dat file, but at some point I was sloppy and accidentally reset all of my statistics • Until recently I did not know that the "/time set day" command resets your day count to 0. I used to switch to spectator mode to take screenshots for my thumbnails and often would use that command to make sure it was as bright as possible. About a month ago I was streaming and one of the chatters let me know this is why my day count was constantly being reset Based on some VERY rough calculations I would estimate my world is AT LEAST 10,000 Minecraft days old, but likely closer to 30,000 or more, especially when taking into account how often I AFK overnight at farms.
@@Mogswamp Mojang said they wanted Minecraft to last a 100 years so it’s gonna be a while… anyways I used to play Minecraft since I was super little and I’m currently in high school and I’m kinda in that same stage of stress and I’m not sure what to do even though I’m not doing TH-cam it’s still worrying that I may not be able to play Minecraft that much anymore because I have to deal with finding a job and I have a girlfriend so games in general are harder to play hours at a time…. But maybe I get a chance to play again in the future (I really really hope so) but anyways I hope your doing okay and have a nice weekend!
I have never heard of you, never seen a single video, didn't know your channel existed until this very moment. But watching this video made me feel as if I was there for every moment of your journey. The Dedication is incredible. Nothing but respect.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the art degree seemed to come in clutch. The building and landscape designs after you came back to the game when you finished college really shined!
I think part of it is, as he mentions throughout the video, the common build styles used in minecraft by the community massively changed over that time as well. The most impressive builds used to be massive creations with massive uniformity and symmetry in terms of their design. It was only around when youtubers like Grian came along that people started making much more varied structures in terms of the materials used. Rather than having massive flat walls of stone like in this video, people started adding bits of andesite and cracked stone into the mix, and it improved build quality tenfold. His old buildings would have been considered impressive in their era just due to their sheer magnitude.
The dedication just astounds me. There's something so surreal about seeing 2012-style minecraft builds next to modern ones. Keep going with this wonderful world.
One of the most craziest things is that he has accomplished more then a person on a normal world and his skill are on par to a hermitcraft build if not better (tho its a hard call).
What I find even more impressive than your game itself is the journey from 0 to 2M subscribers. I discovered your channel today, but seeing your footages from 2012-13 really took me back to this incredible era of TH-cam. I really feel this very innocent and amateur vibe that every youtube channel had back then. It was just people sharing their passion with other and having fun. The little room with the names of your 150 firsts subscribers is a perfect example of that. Hats off for building such a great community mate !
This is absolutely wild. My partner used to watch your videos all the time - I would definitely say you were one of his comfort channels when he was ill. He passed away in 2018 and I lost track of your channel after that. You showed up in my recommended with this today and I'm so glad to hear from you again! Really awesome review of your progress with this world. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so, so sorry to hear that he passed, but I am truly honored to hear that I was able to touch his life in some way, even if it was small. Thanks for sharing that with me, I am really touched. Hope you are well ♥
@@Mogswamp Glad I encountered you again so I could tell you - thank you, yes, it's been a long road since and some days are definitely easier than others but he taught me what it meant to be loved and I've since found love again. 💗💗
Honestly with the internet today, I'm surprised no replies were like "source: trust me bro" or "Yeah sure lier you just want attention, get off 12 year old" I'm sorry for your loss and im glad you found the channel again!
This isnt just a minecraft timeline, its also a life timeline. You go from being in high school to having a job. Congrats on these 10 years my man. You deserved every second. :)
I dont know why, but every time I see an old let's play footage, It just feels like home. The nostalgia of playing superflat without knowing what to do and the commentary made me feel like I was watching my friend play minecraft at a sleepover while I was still waking up. Good to see this type of stuff again!
It´s so nostalgic! I also started paying minecraft on 1.3 so seeing him getting to explore the new features each update brings so many good memories back :)
This was a blast from the past. Seeing the old textures, the old villagers, the time when wheat was the only crop you could grow, the passage of time is a fascinating thing
Technically superflat worlds is the only regular (non-custom; Java-exclusive) world-type where your seed literally doesn't matter (other than villages and slime chunks), thus you have no major chunk borders and avoid a lot of corruption; thus making it ideal for upgrading through versions w/o having the hassle of manually fixing things.
I remember watching some of your videos in highschool. I wish I had rediscovered them during the pandemic, but I will definitely be going back to catch up. Ty for re-inspiring my creativity and creative work ethic. I needed a pick up like this. You've built something truly incredible, and I can't begin to show enough appreciation for your initiative in sharing it with the rest of us. Viva los Superflaters!
I wish TH-cam would've recommended this channel back in the early days like 2012 I would've been obsessed none of the people I watched back then were doing mob farms or mega projects it would've blown my mind. It's impressive what you've done in this world, I suppose it's better late than never I can start watching now.
34:50 this part made me tear up, going into my senior year and i’m devastated by the concept of losing everyone i’ve been so close with for so many years
I am about to start my Junior year of college, and it’s genuinely been the best years of my life. Compared to High school, college can be just so amazing
1:09:28 “the patrons of this church are not very friendly. i will say that about spider church,” is such a funny line oh my god?? it sounds like something out of a comedy where the mention of “spider church” suddenly makes it abundantly clear that the guy’s being recruited by a cult. love it
This wasn't only a story of a world in Minecraft, but a story of a life. A life traveling through ups and downs, but always continuing to have consistency and dedication. So much of this feels like it has translation to real life. This was incredible. Thank you
Fr, like as soon as he was done with it, he started adding new artistic design elements like the circular platforms off the main circle, and using a gradient of colors to mark the heights with the heights on the colors.
i actually kinda cried when you talked about not having time in college because i'm there right now and i understand what you meant so much that it hurts. these builds are really impressive. i'm working on a harbor in my world right now and i think i might use some of your ideas in it. the buildings you added around it would match my giant castle and walled off village.
My solution was rather simple: I realized you don't have to go to college. You're pressured to do so but it's absolutely not required and sometimes detrimental. You don't need to throw away thousands of dollars for an education.
@@MintyLime703 I agree with you but I do think college is my way to go at this moment. If I can get a degree and work for the city or something like that I can then work with my dad and his building business. I haven't quite figured all the details out yet but that's my road. I'm happy for you that you found yours. Some people don't need college and life finds a way to help them start without it. Weather it's a random number generator that chose them to be the next big hit or someone saw potential in them and chose them right out, or maybe they gambled it all and came out on top. In my short 20 years I've learned a few Life lessons. One of them is that Life is crazy and what's going to happen will happen, with or without you. The choice is ours to either accept it and go with it, or we fight for something else. What would have happened to you will still happen somewhere somehow it's just not part of your story after that point. The second thing I've learned is a life goal. To leave this world better than you found it. I learned that from my grandpa. You may not have thought about it like this but what you do is leaving the world a better place so keep doing what you do even if it makes one person happy. You seem to have carved your own path and I respect you for that. You took a gamble and you came out on top so far. That takes balls I just don't have right now. That's what makes you TH-camrs a hero or at least one of mine. Keep doing what you're doing because it seems to be the right path for you at this moment. 👍🙂. I'm still trying to fully find my path. Paths change direction sometimes and I think that's where I am. I just gotta figure out which direction that is.
@@MintyLime703 sorry I was texting that for so long I thought I was talking to mogswamp. My story still holds some lessons I like to share with anyone though
i’ve never seen this kind of dedication towards a game before and honestly, i get why. this takes an unfathomable amount of time and energy and i hope mog is able to get the recognition he deserves soon. i’ll be tuning into each and every update, this whole series makes me so damn happy
Imagine being a regular Mogswamp viewer from 2013 - you check back on the channel daily, then he stops uploading for a few months at a time and you think "Oh he's probably abandoned the channel" And then you get a nostalgic memory 10 years later, check in again, and not only is the channel uploading regularly again but it has 2 million subs. That has gotta be an insane feeling.
I used to watch you as a kid back in 2013-2014 and just came to check on the channel and I've got to say I'm completely blown away. The last video I watched of yours was years ago after you had finished high school and semi-abandoned your channel cause you got busy so seeing you blow up and get the millions of views you and the flatworld deserve is so amazing to see. 10/10 video I'm drowning in nostalgia rn.
I’m just dumbfounded. I wish I had the will to stick with a world this long. Heck, *I haven’t even beaten the ender dragon in a normal survival game without cheats due to my lack of dedication.* This is quite the inspiring video. You DESERVE this like and sub of mine.
I never beat the ender dragon before in the same way as you, so I finally decided to do hardcore for the first time in my life, and not only did I beat the ender dragon for the first time, I beat it on my first ever hardcore world. Truly, I hope one day you come back to tell us you beat it, I would love to see you achieve such a feat.
WE GOT THIS FOR FREE?! this was an incredible journey, and i enjoyed every minute of it. the dramatic gains in building over the years was spectacular to watch. i cant wait to see what's next!
I never thought that someone could do this much in superflat, it’s genuinely impressive how much you’ve accomplished, even in the years you didn’t play much
It was so cool to see how not just your world but Minecraft itself changed over the years. I started playing in 2014 so when we got to that point and onward I was hit with a ton of nostalgia. What a great game with so many memories.
i really envy people who have worlds like this from old versions that they consistently play on. ive played since PE came out but i was always generating more worlds because i was so young, and between my habit of making new worlds and my eventual switch to java i’ve never really had a serious world “evolve” with me. stuff like this is so cool
Ya same. I’ve played since extremely old versions of console edition, I remember playing nearly all the old tutorial worlds at some point because I was a kid and I thought I was sneaky stealing minerals and stuff from random blocks they used for decoration and then claiming the building as my base 😂. Nostalgic to say the least and I wish I had a survival world still from back then I had played on consistently.
Same here for the most part. Started out on Xbox but never really had a world of my own-I just messed around on the tutorial world or watched my older brother play on his. Then I either moved to PC or PE (can't remember which was first). While I still have many of my old PE worlds, my PC worlds are now long gone.
The nostalgia is so unreal too! Just seeing the old textures and the half slabs just takes me back to when I first started to play. Seeing how MC has evolved is truly spectacle and I’ve never given up on it. Although it’s in a rough spot right now I’m forever grateful for the days where I was a little lad tryna make a different floor out of every possible block and a glass house that was completely useless due to how glass works/worked. Exploring the deserted nether and being absolutely terrified is a fond memory and just thinking of it makes me happy. Sword blocking, no hunger, minecart furnace, gravel, cobblestone and even lava textures, so many features that are not appreciated by everyone now but god am I glad I got to experience them. I don’t remember much from then, due to how young I was but I do remember so much of it thanks to Minecraft and those memories will never die. Thank you for the trip and I’m glad I too experienced the game like you, too bad I never dedicated myself to a world like this! So many people have played and inspired me just like you and it’s so awesome to see you play it still to this day. Ps: some of the Minecraft builders I’m grateful for; Notch, The TNT Olympics, Yogscast, Team Crafted, ThnxCya, Antvenom, Caveman films, Ethos, CaptainSparkles etc etc, also, yes, even 4j Studios. All of these people have made more than an impact in my life and I’m still growing up, I can’t imagine how many people have been saved by this wonderful game and I can’t help but think Minecraft is where everyone and anyone can play and have a good time. I’m thankful, to whoever sees this message, keep at it and keep advocating for this game. It’s never dead and it will always be a safe place for anyone, especially ones who grew up with it. Let’s not get down in the dumps because of the changes and huge disappointments (even old ones like Adventure Mode Update) and thank you. To anyone who reads this, get back to whatever you’re doing!
Your journey in this world is incredible and astonishing to me. It's so amazing to see you travel through time through these episodes, so well made. Can't wait for what's to come.
There’s something so poetic about planning on attending art school and ending up thriving with Minecraft. It’s definitely a testament to the timelessness of creativity with sandbox games XD Mogswamp on HermitCraft when?????
Holy crap, I remember watching this when I was in middle school back when you had about 10 episodes out. I wasn't even allowed to have a YT account at that point. I always wondered what happened to this series, but always forgot to check in on it. I'm so glad it turned out this amazing.
34:52 I feel like so many people over so many years have said this, and I've only now just realised it, minecraft really is a timeless game no matter what
It was a lot, but it was worth it. The series is so long and boring, but there's so much progress in there that I didn't want to be buried in old videos forever :-)
@@Mogswamp Did you know that barrels give villagers the fisherman profession? With them you can get buckets of fish which you could use to spice up Salacia(is that how you spell it? I've already forgotten).
@@gabe-dn4qp ive been playin mc since 2013 and for the past five years everyday and i still didn't know about the fisherman thing lmao but thanks will be in great use:)
You sir have earned my subscription. Kudos and best of luck for years to come. Your builds are spectacular and you've helped me dive back into singleplayer minecraft.
Yeah, I noticed how after he finishes college, he looks around his base and starts questioning his design and plans his redesign. It wouldn’t have looked nearly as good without going to art school.
@@RichieBre I think a lot of it has to do with how much better minecraft building got after years passed. Block selection is far more diverse and there are tons of God-tier builders on youtube showcasing their builds now. I'm a scientist who never had an artistic bone in my body but between block availability and inspiration from other builders I've actually gotten better at a slow and steady pace since the minecraft beta days where I would just make blocky cobblestone buildings.
As much as people may be unenthusiastic about how people used to record lets play's I actually really miss it especially for Minecraft, I miss the slower pace and less edits and more just "Here's what's going on and what's going to happen" as much as I love some of the newer content, nostalgia definitely creeps up and makes me want to go back to how TH-camrs used to record Minecraft series.
One of the things that I really liked about the old lets plays that I hate about newer videos and trends (looking at the hundred days series) is that they feel genuine. It feels real, legitimate. It feels possible and recreateable. It feels relatable. One of the biggest issues a lot of newer video trends have is that they try to pack in far too much into a really short period of time. Its cool, and flashy, it catches your attention and can be really engaging if formatted correctly. But, it also feels really alienating. Creators relying far too much on the shock value of "look how much I did in a crazy short amount of time" and pushing it to the point of feeling legitimately fake, and feeling very much like a small child showing off in that really rude spoilt brat type of way.
@@iamaylacat3935 i fully agree with you. it’s gotten to the point where i just have to put on stream vods because i can’t stand having to change the video every 20-30 MAYBE 60 mins (if i’m lucky) lmao. i really miss the authentic feel and it sucks that i have to go to vods to get that old vibe again. it’s even more of a bummer because i have a really hard time finding minecraft streamers that i like 🫠
Honestly this was such an impressive thing to see, I love that you have so much of your journey documented--the highs and lows, the moments you regret and the victories, the memes... it's all so cool to see how you evolved as a player, builder, and person over time! This was a joyous watch. I've subbed, thank you for sharing your journey for so many years!
"the highs and lows, the moments you regret and the victories, the memes..." Could not have put it better. Love the way you wrote that. Thanks for the wonderful comment :-)
Honestly underrated, im surprised this guy isn't at atleast 1 millon sub's yet, his build's are incredible not to mention did it all in full survival on a flat world... Personally I'm amazed at the fact this guy achieved such impressive build's, i hope you continue Mogswamp cause i wanna see how this world develops
Never heard of this guy before, decided to watch the whole video while playing on my own SMP world, easily my favourite MC video ever. The dedication and intelligence that went into making this from just a superflat world is beyond me, I feel inspired to the point im considering making one myself. I can't wait to continue watching this series.
The nether hub being a 1/8 scale replica of the overworld is the single most genius idea I’ve ever seen implemented in minecraft, absolutely doing this
hearing him talk about graduating high school and being worried about college is so adorable as someone who just graduated college myself. this world grew alongside him and that’s crazy to think about
I love minecraft, however ive never been really good. This video shows that you don't have to be insanely good at Minecraft to have fun. Im going to start a flat world like you did. You showed me that there is so much more to Minecraft, and i thank you for that.
Honestly, I’ve never heard of this man until today but i have to say that this is one of the best minecraft “movies” I’ve ever seen. The dedication, the story telling, and the work put into this world over a period of 10 years is truly one of a kind and i cant wait to see you keep growing. I’m so glad TH-cam recommended me your channel because you’re an amazing guy and truly deserve the success. Im rooting for you bud!
It’s 5AM and I’m lying in bed trying to go to sleep but instead stumbled upon this video that astounded me. The dedication is truly something else. 13 year old me would’ve deleted the world a long time ago! 😆
Thats insanely impressive. I just recently picked up minecraft again after not playing for almost 5 years. Only got back to it cause my nephews are finally big enough to understand the game and so i started helping them out. It kinda brought back that childhood fun again
I remember years ago Minecraft and specifically this channel was one of the things that helped me bond with my late girlfriend. After she passed I unsubscribed and stopped all Minecraft related things until covid. I didn't expect this world to continue running after so long but I'm glad it is. Thank you for reminding me of all the good times we had spending hours of everyday in a superflat world, all the nether bed griefing and wither spawning and of course, watching these videos and talking about how much more difficult it was than you made it seem, it's been a real journey and it was shocking to see how far you've come
This is so crazy.. I never thought that you can actually build like an entire civilization in Minecraft super flat. I feel like this man has just taken Minecraft to the next level and I respect that. Have a good day this is just mind blowing and underated
I can never stick with a Minecraft world for long. You took the most boring kind of world and made something incredible out of it over ten years. Congrats! Hope you make it to 15 years!
this Super flat world is incredible. I can't even take care of a Minecraft world in 10 days without getting bored. This really shows what the human mind can actually do and how powerful and beautiful a person's imagination could be. I am very invested and excited to see what this super flat world will look like in the next 10 years if you keep going. Mog Swamp if you are reading this, you should know that you are Incredible.
watching this felt so nostalgic to me I had never watched an videos from you before until this one, but watching this one and hearing you talk about when things were added to the game just hit me every time I remember all of these updates, and seeing what year it was when they were added is so weird because i remember playing them so vividly, and then I see the year, and I'm like "bro I was like 11 wtf" this video is just insane even to me. I can't imagine what it must have been like reviewing all your old videos and compiling them, seeing everything through time and the nostalgia of it this is honestly amazing, man I will definitely watch more of your stuff cuz you are awesome
6:11 I really miss this old feature in Minecraft. If you crammed a bunch of mobs in a small area and set them free, they would explode really far and it was hilarious. I used to make this thing called a “sheep volcano” where I would make a glass tube, put as many sheep as possible in the bottom (usually until the game told me I couldn’t spawn any more mobs), and fill the tube with water. Then, I’d step back and watch the sheep slowly crawl up the tube and explode out the top. It was hilarious, and Idek where I originally got the idea from. Sadly, it doesn’t work anymore. They’ll all just either stay at the bottom and not swim to the top, or they will swim to the top and just stay there swimming in a big clump instead of exploding out. Idk why they changed it so that mobs won’t explode out of small spaces anymore, but I really miss the feature.
@@Essentially_Empy pocket edition is where I originally tried it for the last time and discovered it didn’t work anymore. Maybe yours just hasn’t been updated?
THE MILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Have you lied, stolen, used God’s name in vain, or lusted (which Jesus said was adultery, Mt. 5:28)? If so, God sees you as a liar, thief, blasphemer, and adulterer at heart. If you die in your sins, you will end up in a terrible place called Hell. But there's good news. Though we broke God's Law, Jesus paid the fine by dying on the cross: "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (Jn. 3:16). Then Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses. He fulfilled all the prophecies of the promised Savior. Please, today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will forgive you and grant you the gift of eternal life (Eph. 2:8,9). Then, to show your gratitude, read the Bible daily and obey it, join a Christian church, and be baptized. Visit NeedGod.com and LivingWaters.com hii
The fact youre better than most "Great minecraft players now" 11 years ago, is crazy, you knew so much back then, i was expecting you to be terrible back then, but youre knowledge back then is crazy, you definitely wouldve been one of the greatest minecraft players back then(and still now) Good luck with the future of this amazing super flat world👍
This whole thing warmed my heart so much. You talking about how you were joining the Minecraft train "too late" really resonated with me, as I've always wanted to make things like MC videos but worry that when I am finally able to it will be too late for it to gain any traction. Your tenacity is incredibly inspiring, and it's worthy of respect. God bless.
The whole point is to never give up. Maybe i would be able to do something similar in 10 years, but i would be bored and stop after few weeks. It is amazing how you stayed with the project, even though you weren't gaining popularity after years of hard work. Theese builds look like something done on creative and with mods. Truly inspirational - - Even if you are not the best at something, after much time and effort you can achieve great things. I'll watch your career with great interest.
20:15 Legit I have to wonder if this guy ever considered a singing career🤔 The one thing I took away from all this😂 The whole journey of all this tho, is wildly impressive. Not to mention all that’s been accomplished. It really is mind boggling… and that’s still understating it. If Mojang has a “web page of fame”, this dude has more than earned a spot on it!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😎😧
I just got around to watching this and I just want to say how amazingly proud I am of you and this channel! Seeing you grow these past 10 years has been an honor and I can’t wait to see where you go next
As someone who has never seen one of your videos, this is honestly a wonderful story and seeing the progression from start to present is honestly inspiring. You've earned yourself a new subscriber and I wish you luck on the next ten years of superflat.
Etho, Mumbo, and now X… the members of Hermitcraft, even before/in the early days of Hermitcraft, have been such influential people in the Minecraft community, it’s fascinating.
Wow.. I'm brand new to this channel, Mog! But I love to see content like this. How cool it is to basically watch someone's whole life story through a medium like this. :)
@@Mogswamp Yeah, that's really crazy my dude! x3 (In response to minecraftmodder's comment as well. :P) I'm pleasantly surprised when large creators even just like my comments, let alone respond to them! I’m an artist who’s been experiencing some crazy burnout the past couple years out of high school, I thought that covid would allow me to have some much needed time to get reinvested in my work but it had the opposite effect. I went from working on art everyday for hours to going months without touching my projects but what you said in this video really touched my heart and helped me to realize my dream again. It doesn’t matter if anyone sees what I make or if I get the recognition my ego thinks I deserve, I just need to put my head down and follow my dream for myself. You’ve got yourself a new fan and I’m excited to see where the next ten years take you, your world, and my own art. Thank you
Brooo I’ve been rewatching your series only to find out now you’re making the movie lmao But seriously this is super cool, I’ve been enjoying your let’s play very much
When I saw this recently, I thought it was clickbait, I said “there’s no way someone did this legit for that long on a superflat” and yet here it is, absolutely incredible.
Watching the beginning of this and comparing it to the beginning of my new superflat gives me a very good sense of how much this game has changed. On your first few days you were struggling to gather resources, on my first few I already had netherite armor. Back when this came out, I wouldn't have even known you could get this far in a superflat.
My favourite part is when he says “horses!” and then shows the description for 1.6, the ‘Horse Update’, which lists “the main features of this update are: horses” then follows it up by saying “but also includes: horses”, culminating the moment he realises he cannot get horses
That's just crazy! I hope this world lasts for as long as you would like it to, massive congrats for hitting this huge milestone that probably only a few people have reached, and on a flatworld! I've had quite a few of your videos in my recommended but this one was 100% the best yet. Keep it up man. Also I just subscribed :o
This is so inspiring. As someone who struggles to continue worlds long-term, this was an eye-opening experience. Your journey is incredible. Wishing you all the success in continuing this world, and I can't wait to see how much further you take it in the future!
Im glad that youtube randomly recommended this to me. I saw glimpses of my own childhood through this time capsule... the 2010s builds, makeshift farms, name dropping some MC youtube veterans, and simply sharing your journey in life... I cant help but get emotional. Loved the occasional commentary and seeing your journey for the first time. You have clearly perfected your craft (ba dum tss) and im so glad you found success in your perseverance!
this easily could've been a simple yet entertaining summary of your world's history but to end it with the lesson to "never give up" was brilliant. Awesome video man.
I know you’re not gonna ever see this, but this is probably one of the most genuine videos I’ve ever seen on Minecraft. I love how you included everything from your fears about going into college and losing passion and Time for your TH-cam channel. It really showed that like you’re an actual person and this is not just another heavily edited Minecraft video it really made me connect with you and respect all the work and time and dedication you put into this. Keep up the great work I can’t wait to see this world evolve even more.
The fact that horses came out in 2013 blows my mind. It doesn’t feel that long ago at all!! This is also just the coolest time capsule video ever. So much old Minecraft content and that’s awesome. Will always be so hard to wrap my mind around the passage of time. Your builds are absolutely beautiful by the way. Definitely an inspiration & I may use some design aspects in my realm.
One thing I would change about your channel after 10 years is me being a subscriber sooner. Im slightly disappointed it took me 10 years to find your channel, however Im glad I did. Based on the year you graduated you seem to be about the same age as me, so going through the same life experiences as you were would've made the journey that much better. Im glad I get to spend the next 10 years as a new subscriber
@@Jammy3270 😂😂 the part about feeling like he needed to make his career work before highschool ended is honestly what made me cry. I relate so much to that and am in that point in my life right now! The fact that this TH-camr still made it even though it didn’t take off before the imaginary deadline gave me a lot of comfort.
im 21 coming back to this game on my freetime since apex and warzone are dead. and honestly it carries the stigma of being a kids game. but your growth and the monuments youve created are other than childish. the fact u even have an art degree is like a cherry on top. you sir have shown me there is no limitation on this game. im so interested in the specs and the things the game allows. i feel better about chillen after work and attempting to make the same auto farms we learned how to make 10x as big and more detailed.
I find it interesting that you say it carries the stigma of being a kid's game, because personally I felt like that stigma almost completely vaporized with its revival in 2019. Like, before its revival, I felt the stigma very heavily, and felt like a lot of people would hardcore judge me for playing it. But during and afterwards, it suddenly seemed to gain recognition and validity in the mainstream again, shot to the top of the best-selling games of all time list, and has stayed there ever since.
@@peterlewis2178 a lot of people still say “minecraft is just a kids game” but what you have said here is 100% correct, after the revival in 2019, it started to carry away from the “kids game” and continued to be a bit more fit for all ages.
See, this is what keeps me coming back to my own survival world that I've been playing for 2 years right now. Videos of how other people showing their nostalgia for their own worlds. Thank you for documenting all of this.

People like you honestly deserve to be more popular than that, so keep going. Who knows ? maybe you'll have a million subscribers tomorrow ! Awesome work.
That was such a wholesome final message at the end. 10 years of putting lots of love and hard work into this project, not knowing if it will ever go viral and get the views and attention it deserves… and yet you never gave up! it certainly is inspirational to see. i’m wishing you all the best in the future and hopefully one day i’ll see the 20 years superflat update!
I recently discovered this channel and I had no idea the world had been going on since I was 10 years old, I just assumed you were one of the many youtubers that got their start after minecraft started getting big again
This is INSANE, the amount of time, the amount of effort, pain and struggle, but the opposite joy, satisfaction, and overall hapiness it brought to your life... I really don't know what to say. I'm surprised that in my years of minecraft, having started in 1.5, that I never saw any of your videos, and I think this project needs so much more recognition.
This is honestly one of THE MOST impressive videos i have ever seen, the time it must have taken to edit 10 FREAKING YEARS of footage is absurd. Even though this is the first ive ever seen you on youtube before, im already very very attatched. Very well done, and im excited to see what comes in the next years of this world
This is so breathtaking 10 years!! On a Minecraft flat world and you did all that by yourself? You are truly amazing I really liked your story in this Minecraft Community, and for me and many people I know you are a legend keep your way up in this platform you’ll have your space as one of the greatest because you deserve it.
Are the days minecraft days or irl days?
IRL Days. A lot of people want to know how many Minecraft days I have but it's not really possible for a few reasons:
• When I started playing, statistics for Minecraft were saved globally, not per-world, meaning there was no way to know how much time I spent specifically in this world until late 2013 when they changed it. When the change was made, it was like my world was starting from scratch in terms of playtime
• My statistics reset at least once at some point in the past 5 years when my world got corrupted. Over the years I have had world corruption several times and have usually been able to fix it by loading a backup or importing an old level.dat file, but at some point I was sloppy and accidentally reset all of my statistics
• Until recently I did not know that the "/time set day" command resets your day count to 0. I used to switch to spectator mode to take screenshots for my thumbnails and often would use that command to make sure it was as bright as possible. About a month ago I was streaming and one of the chatters let me know this is why my day count was constantly being reset
Based on some VERY rough calculations I would estimate my world is AT LEAST 10,000 Minecraft days old, but likely closer to 30,000 or more, especially when taking into account how often I AFK overnight at farms.

Amazing how such different people can think so a like
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the art degree seemed to come in clutch.
@@stoopidapples1596 I mean, grian came around back in 2015.
That and the new additions of blocks and the new textures made the builds better overall.
On baby
The 1% of time that art degrees come in handy, if not for Minecraft he would’ve been working at a subway making sandwiches
The dedication just astounds me. There's something so surreal about seeing 2012-style minecraft builds next to modern ones. Keep going with this wonderful world.

Mogswamp: the next generation

Mog Swamp if you are reading this, you should know that you are Incredible.
watching this felt so nostalgic to me
I had never watched an videos from you before until this one, but watching this one and hearing you talk about when things were added to the game just hit me every time
I remember all of these updates, and seeing what year it was when they were added is so weird because i remember playing them so vividly, and then I see the year, and I'm like "bro I was like 11 wtf"
this video is just insane even to me. I can't imagine what it must have been like reviewing all your old videos and compiling them, seeing everything through time and the nostalgia of it
this is honestly amazing, man
I will definitely watch more of your stuff cuz you are awesome
Idk why they changed it so that mobs won’t explode out of small spaces anymore, but I really miss the feature.
oh they dont? damn. i have an old video on my channel called the creeper launcher or something that was just that but with creepers lol
thats still possible with chickens
I love doing this, and it’s still possible on Pocket if you wanna do it again.
The classic chicken bomb, I remember crashing my friends potato by doing that lmao
@@Essentially_Empy pocket edition is where I originally tried it for the last time and discovered it didn’t work anymore. Maybe yours just hasn’t been updated?
Had to pause the video to take a moment to cry for a few minutes lmao, the dedication to something like this is just, it’s so awesome.

@@brasen7672 Bro you're called Toby Brown. That is the most NPC name ever💀💀
It's always nice to look at old minecraft. Love the symmetry, the fact that you documented all this is crazy.
20:15 Legit I have to wonder if this guy ever considered a singing career🤔
The one thing I took away from all this😂
The whole journey of all this tho, is wildly impressive. Not to mention all that’s been accomplished. It really is mind boggling… and that’s still understating it. If Mojang has a “web page of fame”, this dude has more than earned a spot on it!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😎😧

It’s so awesome to see old subscribers talking to their favorite channel after so long.
i love how you always use “we” when you talk about stuff you built to make it seem like the community helped
Couldn't have done it without the help and support ♥
Basically the community helped by 0.1%

As someone who has never seen one of your videos, this is honestly a wonderful story and seeing the progression from start to present is honestly inspiring. You've earned yourself a new subscriber and I wish you luck on the next ten years of superflat.

Thank you
Brooo I’ve been rewatching your series only to find out now you’re making the movie lmao
But seriously this is super cool, I’ve been enjoying your let’s play very much
When I saw this recently, I thought it was clickbait, I said “there’s no way someone did this legit for that long on a superflat” and yet here it is, absolutely incredible.

I did cry while watching this 😂😅
@@pasteladream glad im not the only one
I'm supposed to be working, but I got glued to this vid. Wow!

I'm surprised that in my years of minecraft, having started in 1.5, that I never saw any of your videos, and I think this project needs so much more recognition.
