I read The Long Walk at the start of the year and it stuck with me. It also summed up on what this year felt like for me now that we're reaching it's end.
Great to see somebody still reading Jack London. You can't go wrong with Jack London, try "Seawolf" and "Iron Heel" and my favourite book " Martin Eden".
I read - and LOVED - Call of the Wild as a teenage girl (more years ago than I like to admit) so not just a 'fellas' book! It resonates on so many levels and in so many ways.
Great reads this year! I adored I'm Thinking of Ending Things and Tender is the Flesh as well, perfect books for what they are aiming to do, I agree. I really need to read The Long Walk & Rosemary's Baby, both are on the shelf waiting their turn. I think the closest books to being perfect for me this year were, Roadside Picnic, Neuromancer, Dune Messiah, Chain Gang All Stars, The Exorcist and Kings of the Wild, all for vastly different reasons ha.
This was great, Crizzy. Really enjoyed hearing about your five star books. Lonesome Dove has been on my radar forever. I think I should get to it. I know you read a lot of Stephen King. Have you ever read From A Buick 8? I had never heard of it, and in the last month or so, I have heard two different booktubers talk about it as one of their all-time favorite King books. I just picked it up and figured I'd give it a try. Wondered if you had read it. Finally, I don't know if you do tags, but I just did this pretty thought-provoking tag on the importance of reading in my life--a newly created tag by a good friend of mine of booktube--and I included you on the people I tagged. I just thought that you might enjoy thinking about the prompts. But no pressure at all, especially if you aren't into tags. Anyway, terrific video. I really enjoyed your list.
Thanks! I’ve heard of Buick 8 but haven’t read it. My goal is to work backwards from the beginning with King books. What was the tag? I do them sometimes they can be pretty fun!
@@Crizzybooks I just thought it was interesting that I've heard two people in a row really rave about From A Buick 8, and I don't think I remember hearing about it before. The tag is called Reading Books About Reading Books. A guy named Robert G Reader of books had tagged me on it, and I just thought it was really thought-provoking, so I tagged a whole bunch of people, including you, to help spread it around. You read pretty widely, and I just thought it might interest you. NO pressure though. 😃
you read all kinds of interesting books this year. im excited to get to some of them myself. 11/22/63 i read recently and i fell in love with it and same with Boys Life and that was the first book i read in 2024
Many non-fiction books are not designed to get to a single point, but often have many good points about one or many topics. Perhaps they shed light on a very complex topic, event or experience. Maybe a road is described, instead of the destination. I don't want to sound didactic or pretentious, but I want to point out that there are many good non-fiction books. Give love to all books!❤😊
I’ve read plenty of great nonfiction! I think maybe memoirs are the real culprit of feeling like a drag although I’ve felt similar to some true crime too.
My most surprising 5 star this year was The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy. I'm not a crime aficionado but that book blew my mind. I immediately read his second book in the L.A. Quartet and now I'm taking a short break to let my brain cells cool down.
I’ve just read Rosemarys Baby and it blew me away. I had actually put off reading it as I didnt think it would be that good. I’ve just bought it for my mum, shes called Rosemary so I’m technically Rosemarys Baby 😎 Ps. currently reading The Revenant (Michael Punke) and I’m sure you'll love it
As a vegan I loved tender is the flesh ...... also as an adoptee the ending really hit😬 in reference to how we treat uteruses as a means to produce a commodity😓
Great channel, bud!
The Long Walk really is one of King's best. I could def see 5 stars for that one. :)

This was my first and I loved it and intend to read more. White Fang is next because I’m a sucker for dog stories.
Added No One is Talking About This to my TBR. 🎉
Do I know you from somewhere?

I have several of those on my upcoming TBR (which is 120 books long lol) but I’m looking forward to getting to them.

Is Lonesome Dove hard to read please?
No not at all it’s very easy to follow and understand.
@crizzybooks Thank you 🙏
Great point. Some books are indeed 5 stars but not my favorite. Thanks for picking out my next Stephen King book! 😜
Any time!

True crime is a small dose genre for me too 😂
I’m actually listening to an Last Podcast on the Left episode about the black dahlia right now.
Lonesome Dove sounds interesting

Dude that’s awesome that you’re Rosemarys Baby lol. Is the Revenant the same as the movie? (love that one)
Yes its the same but of course the book is so much better. I don’t want it to end.
As a vegan I loved tender is the flesh ...... also as an adoptee the ending really hit😬 in reference to how we treat uteruses as a means to produce a commodity😓
Never thought of it from those angles but makes total sense!
It's very hard to find a bad Ira Levin's book.
That’s what I’ve heard I’m gonna have to check out others
You can see where The Hunger Games was based on.
