You got alot of great shot. I was in St. Thomas this past April and took a few shots of the station and the old engine shops. Too bad progress and lack of money got in the way of o spot that once seen alot of action.
Wow! Love the vids, takes me back to childhood, the caso was awesome, used to love the fact you never knew what was coming next, chessie, b&o, seaboard, scl, acl, family lines, western maryland, all the u boats, miss that stuff like crazy. You have an amazing collection of photos. wish i took more.
This is a great video, I love the collage. I was very sad to see the CASO come to this, its ridiculous. I still do not understand why the Museum would let themselves become landlocked!
It was sad too see CASO abandoned the railway. And the CASO bridge is the best part .and I remember hate the country side because there was no trains there was only bridges and train museums in my area there is hardly any trains only VIA go trains and CN and CP and light Rail. But I was also sad to See the railway between Guelph to Elmira. And the CP railway in Goldrich have to go. And see gerx leave the Guelph sub. Nice video
@@DiamondMaster20 the last revenue train left Goderich December 16th, 1988 with CP 3032 and 7 flat cars flying a white flag. The line was ripped up starting spring of 89.
I was in the area today. Hard to believe that the pictures shown in the first half of this are true. A lot of dismantling work going on and the ground is dug up. I was hoping to take my daughter on a train ride this summer on the old CASO, but that part of the track is now gone.
Caso should be relayed at min from st thomas to windsor for HSR TGV style via service. Its ready to go. Really could relay the whole deal and have a wye conection going through hamilton. Up into toronto.
Trucks.... errr.....”Lorry’s” as you would say in the U.K. Truck traffic all over the roadways and the desire for manufacturers to have “just in time” shipments. The manufacturers do not have to warehouse parts nor do they have to pay for it until it is actually used such as in the automotive supply chain.
sad to see those tracks are gone
Great video. It's really sad to St. Thomas become like this. Imagine what it was like in its hay-day...
thanks for being the railway historian in this area, Larry!
A lot of chiid hood memories are found in this in this superb video.
Thank you for caring .
Conrail did the very same thing here in Indiana in the early 1980s.. So i fell you pain guys over the loss of the CASO..
thanks for posting it had its moments its a shame that its gone great memories of days gone by
Good ol Chesse my grandpa worked for them. 40 yrs on the job

Nobody gonna talk about how sad the last song is?
Goosebumps good. Thank you.

Wow lots of memories. Thanks for putting this together.
And now the CN has discontinued operations on the CASO Sub from Fargo to Windsor...I can not say how brutal this abandonment has been.
😢
What led to the demise of train traffic through St. Thomas? God bless.
Sad
st T IS JUST DEPRESSING WITHOUT TRAINS
That shot of those Wabash covered wagons with the Hi-cubes, was that DN90 or ND91? And where as that, it looked like a branch line.
Pictures taken on CN Line in St Thomas (Cayuga and Panes Sub )
Larry Broadbent so they just all randomly left and never came back
Hi dad can we go to the St Thomas mall From JJ 🎉
This is really a sign of the times, Class 1 railways becoming more modern but the joy of the older operations is dying.
Thank goodness for the Short line Railroads or we would have hardly anything left!!
Another 5 miles of CASO just came into London yard on its way to the 'peg
So long CASO you put a lot of trucks on the road
St Thomas is now pointless without the railroad

CN/CP will one day realize the folly of abandoning the CASO.

Im best friends with caso
It just don’t feel the same
How does the economy survive these days , interested viewer from uk??
st.thomas economy is stagnant. Politicans have been unsuccessful in revitalization
