    Hi! I’m a software engineer based in London with a background in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Most of my time is spent reading, coding and drinking too much coffee. I got into coding by automating simulation workflows and building EdgeSheet.com, and now I’m documenting my life as an engineer online.

    I always learn so much whenever you make these sit-down videos. I'm not a programmer but highly interested in coding. And you simplify key concepts of coding so well that it makes it easier to take that next step in going after that interest. So thank you so much.

    In regards to IDEs. Similarly working first with VSCode as it is easy to use and quite lightweight for quick coding. But JetBrains tools can have so many more features that are just "extensions" in VSCode so I am slowly fully transitioning over to them. Great vid Jackie, hope the holiday was good!

    Sounds like a great book recommendation - immediately ordered it. Having spent the most recent decade+ of my professional life in distributed systems, I've always viewed Vijay Garg's Elements of Distributed Computing as my go-to core text (even over Nancy Lynch's text despite haven taken the course with her), but am excited to check out something more recent. It is also great to see someone in the practice with an interest in the science. It feels lonely amongst as few developers are enthusiastic about the science (or, for that matter, about the art of software, which to me == the art of abstraction).

    A plugin to show the shortcut you could use when you instead used a menu or command from the palette and how many times you failed to use the shortcut is great in your favourite editor. Creating flashcards in Anki is another way to quickly remember shortcuts.

The load is a little bit irritating but other than that I'm happy with vscode I also think a nice addition is learning to use git and personally youtube is more for intertaining and relax perposes for me 🤓

    Obrigado pelas dicas! Como estudante me ajuda muito, eu sinto que mesmo que eu não deseje seguir carreira, ou que eu comece a trabalhar na área mas não me sinta por completo e decida sair, ainda assim eu sinto que aprender a codar vai ser um conhecimento muito útil de alguma forma, principalmente nos dias atuais. Tomo a liberdade de escrever aqui em Português porque acredito que não vai se importar, até poderia escrever em inglês mas acho bacana usar o Português as vezes.
    Um abraço diretamente do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!

    What language do you generally prefer to solve your leetcode problems in? If I don't have a preference is there a specific one that you would recommend?

    • @CSJackie
      @CSJackie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually use JavaScript because the syntax is simple and quick to write. Think the most important criteria is how comfortable and familiar you are with the language, and then you can pick one that isn’t very verbose so you can code up solutions fast :)

    Hi Jackie I'm currently learning Laravel for backend framework after learning PHP.But the problem is i find learning laravel is easy at first i can do well in CRUD but after learning some next parts it gets hard( like memorizing some function like factory or database seeding and Validator)
    .Is it normal for a backend beginner to feel like that hard and i feel unmotivated to go to next parts i decided to redo the lessons from start. Can you give me some advice as a Senior? (I decided to learn MERN stack and used it as my main stack after learning laravel but i currently stuck in laravel tho🤕) Any advice to come through this situation pls?

    • @CSJackie

      I haven't tried Google's, I upgraded mine because it was limited in the number of passwords/accounts I could store. Some paid password managers have nice features such as changing all your passwords with a certain frequently or detect logins with repeated passwords, which can be useful :)

    So take Devil Wears Prada inspiration and make it your first job. You don't need VPN, unless would want to watch that here not available network - truth is we know there is was somebody under siege and we must send them Zandalari supplies . They want to have this barrier 3:55 of not letting you use your RX-8 phone for personal purposes and make it about swearing on a students loan you not gonna quit first year and making it a loan on certificate - which is stupid in my opinion, when knowledge is free. I just know there is something I can do to get those 66k views recording my self at nature with the horses and pining the location. 10:48 trust new angular/react php compiling showing it after save. For finding these I recommend buying and building your PC with a provided tip. Everything you need is for 10€ 6:25, cuz you really have to pay for those too to get a thing you most want - a new GPU.
