      Some are living in a Kafkaesque delusion. If one is reading Jesus as if He were Don Quixote, they are really missing the point Jesus willingly walked in a humble path to honor His Father in Heaven. But according to Matthew 25: 53 - Do you think I cannot appeal to my Father, and He will at once send me more than 22 legions of angels?

      En cualquier caso, tu dedicación a este código de conducta es verdaderamente encomiable. ¡Que tus aventuras estén llenas de risas, tu Dulcinea siempre cerca y amorosa, y tus comidas, cuando lleguen, sean tan grandiosas como un banquete de caballero!

    I believe this story is about the human part of aging. That the real truth is how healthy are you and honest will you be when you encounter others waiting and wondering about you? DQ is the symbol of aging and how living for the moment can be a momentous occasion -- all the time. Irony.

    I don't know why I was laughing on some scenes. Is this story supposed to be funny and humor as its genre? I have to re-tell this story on my report and I hope someone would answer my question so I know if I'm gonna smile or laugh when I'm telling the story, cause the last line too was 'do not marry a man who reads chivalry' something like that. it was somewhat funny for me or my humor is just broken? Help-

    • @GreatBooksin10minutes
      @GreatBooksin10minutes  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It definitely is a very charming story, so laughing is for sure an acceptable reaction. There are scenes in the book like when Don Quixote attacks a shepherd's herd of sheep and sees them as an invading army, or when he beats the living daylight out of a barber and takes his basin as the prized helmet of an ancient warrior, you can't help but to laugh. Having said that, in its heart Don Quixote is an essay on the lost values of humanity. The ideal world that Cervantes is in search of is so distant from the one that he lives in, that when his protagonist actively tries to resurrect those values, he seems mad and out of place. Otherwise, when looked at through the lens of morality and humane behavior, what Don Quixote strives to be is not that far away from what the moral compass instructs us all to do. Virtues like helping the weak, standing up to oppression, courage in face of overwhelming opposition, etc. So the question to answer is, was Don Quixote mad because he was virtuous or he became mad when he got virtuous? Considering that madness here means going against the grain of the hegemony and not being afraid of looking strange and out of place.

      Thank you for your comment. While "Amadis of Gaul" is a significant work in the history of literature, "Don Quixote" is often seen as a pivotal point in the development of the novel as a literary form due to its innovative narrative techniques and themes. This is why it's frequently regarded as the first modern European novel.
