I really like the fact that you went with such a cool skin base. I tend to go for warmer colors that pair better with yellow or orange highlights (just a preference) because I'm never certain how to shade (tend to go with cooler grey-browns than say a warmer red-brown) and am afraid of washing the face out. Can I ask how you did that purple layover? Is it a feature specific to Tool SAI? I use autodesk sketchbook pro and have been trying to recreate the affect to limited success.

Ahh this takes me back when i was in Middle school my teacher would have this thing called Free Drawing Friday where he'd give us 15 minutes to draw something and the whole class would vote all the drawings... good times
I loved this video so much, you know why? This way you can see how the artist works, calmly and his technique as a whole. Much better, in my opinion, that speedpaints. Join this mode with tutorials would be a thousand times better, sometimes you teach how to make or paint a body part only and when the artist beginner will use the technique it is somewhat inconsistent with his style of drawing. I would like to see more videos like this of grand artists like you, I feel much more determined to draw and less neurotic about the way I make my lineart, not to mention that I watched as you do your sketches I can learn from it also.

I think she's using Paint Tool SAI, I could be wrong though, I usually draw on an iPad so I'm not familiar with computer programs ^^' I know it wasn't the person you wanted to be answered by, but I hope it helped! ^^
How do you work in layers and not color outside of your lines?? Do you the "select" the layer that keeps your color in each line?? I use photoshop and often times i have to be really precise when i color becauss sometimes i color outside the lines.
ThatsSoMandyQ when I paint I typically set my lines to 50% opacity and paint on the kayer directly underneath. I separate eyes, hair, skin, and clothes onto their independent layers and paint without worrying about lines (since theyre all on different layers you can go back in and erase). Hope that helps!
I have a question for you: Do you or did you have trouble with drawing boys? Because I always see you drawing girls and I had problems with drawing boys myself for a long time. It was hard to get over it but I made it ^^ so, I have the theory that it's easier for people to draw their own gender but I dunno if it's true... So no offense, i just thought it'd be interesting to know if you have/had the same struggle I went through with drawing boys.

+Grace Parent I wouldn't recommend a cintiq at all. Try a basic usb pen tablet before investing in a tablet as overpriced as a wacom cintiq. You do not need a cintiq for professional results and owning one will not improve your artwork alone.
I should really learn to color like you... I spent a couple hours on coloring because I did it on the wrong layer which messed everything up and it turned out ok in the end but I could have saved so much time if I didn't accidentally do some colors on my line layer : (
