Being from Atlanta, Georgia, Gladys asked Weatherly if she could change the title and lyric to Midnight Train to Georgia, something that she could feel. Obviously, Weatherly agreed...totally changes the groove, makes for those great background vocals and soulful rhythm. BTW, Weatherly is a great lyricist. He also wrote the lyrics of several other songs Gladys recorded: Neither One of Us, The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me, Where Peaceful Waters Flow (a very under-appreciated song and recording).
