Only 1 issue i have seen is that its actually easier to open this battery pack using a flat screwdriver carefully opening the clamps. And then you can still keep the full case to re use it. Other than that great vid 👍
Brilliant video 👍🏻thank you.. I have a phantom 2 with a very dead battery I have stripped of case and I'm happy enough to have a go. One question on my battery there's a pcb on top of standard battery I'm happy apart from my pcb has two thin wires going to battery. Would I just disregard these and use balance wires as per excellent video? Many thanks Marc
The Phantom 3 batteries have some intelligence (e.g. auto-discharge to safe storage voltage). Has anyone succeeded to replace the cells also for a Phantom 3 battery when the old battery was completely dead? I read somewhere that the battery controller could set a "defect detect" bit in the battery controller when it detects a deeply discharged batterey which is not easily resettable, but I don't know if this is true.
in the meanwhile I found a real cool video : th-cam.com/video/P5PNOO2GebY/w-d-xo.html This uses an open source tool to reset the PF (permanent failure) bit of the battery
Thanks very informative . If I remove the cells from one mavic battery and connect each one in parallel to the cells in another battery this will double the mah , will the battery computer know this and show up on the app or will it fry it , my thoughts are it will be fine but I want a second opinion before I take my batterys apart . Trying to get more flight time . I know there are other mods but i want to try this .
I don't recommend parallell connecting lipo batteries, if one cell gets damaged it will not be protected any more. Computer can not detect problems any longer.
Hey i bought a 3 cell battery at 5000mAh. EC5 male plug and four wire balancer connector. I soldered everything exactly like you have. Including balancer. At first the battery thingy was somewhat buggy. Sometimes i had to replug it multiple times for it to work. Then i took it for a ride on my phantom 2. But the drone kept seeing the battery at 0%. At first I thought this was just the drone having to calibrate for the new battery like you said at end of video. Then i was going to charge the battery but one of the balancer wires just blew up... wish you could have been clearer on how they where supposed to be soldered...
@@swishpan Thanks for response! I have done further study on what I did and made a diagram. Based on that diagram everything I did seemed to be right. i.imgur.com/t3RxWP7.png I posted image of how exactly I wired everything and what happened when it went wrong. The cable burnt out after flying it in the drone first. I will also note the charger was able to charge the battery at first. But then stopped when I came back after an hour. That is when I tried to fly it in the drone. Which worked but the OSD told me battery was empty 0%. The wires on the PCB did not burn in any way and the PCB does seem perfectly fine and sound visually. But does not know the state of the battery function as I no longer have a battery to test with unless I buy a new. I already lost 600kr worth in value with the other battery dying so before I even attempt to continue I would like to know where I did wrong. And if I should destroy my second swollen DJI2 battery to try it out and ditch the PCB I did it with at first. The text written on the image is how it is written on my PCB. I have tested the entire board with multimeter myself to confirm what is same and what is not same. Also measured resistance and it is like it should comparing the resistance with other PCB diagrams made. And general balancer diagrams with resistance on them. Got this help from a friend who regularily fixes old electronics and have more knowledge than me and he doesnt even know what went wrong. We concluded a short happened somewhere. Which is hard to figure out as we cant find one now. And the short happened while pressing the battery test button on the PCB (the red light button on the DJI2 battery computer). I have once more chance to do it right but I need to buy a new battery and solder new connections entirely while gutting a second (last) DJI2 battery I got laying around. It is also broken/swollen but has a battery computer that appear to work. I didnt get to test the current battery computer before gutting it as the current battery computer had cells that had died from discharging and had basically no voltage left in them.
My positive connection seems to be broken. When i use the multimeter to see if the positive part of the charging port is connected to the positive connections on the board i get no reading. I get a reading from the charging port to the led/balance charging board but no reading coming from the wire coming from led/balance charging board to the battery board. The negative connections are completely functional. There must be a broken connection on the led/balance charging board. How do i fix this?
hello good, congratulations for the channel, I have subscribed, I am from Spain, I have done everything as you indicate but there is a problem and it is the following: put the lithium battery that you put, whether it is 3200 mah or 5200 mah the drone flies only 12 minutes and it is because the original battery always says that it is at 80 percent charge, is there any way to reset the battery so that it is as if it were new with zero charge cycles and at 100 percent capacity? .
Thank you for that! I’m sure it can be reset but I don`t know how unfortunately. Maybe after a few cycles it will adjust itself automatically, you can try it first.
i could do for 100 eur + shipping, if you think its worth it. 50 if you remove the battery cell yourself first. (Shipping lithium is a bit complicated)
can you do a video of you Soldering the wires into where the lights and button are? Or make some diagram. Have some old batteries with a broken cell an wanna try this. Or is there a way to fix just the one cell that needs replaced?
There is a diagram about 4 minutes out. Just pause the video or take screen shot. You can fix a single cell but it have to be matched, i recommend just using a new battery instead.
Hi, where can I find suitable batteries, I want 7000 and up, and use the original charger, I disassembled the original batteries which were not good and I have my whole body and electronic board left
great job, I have to do the same thing, for three phantom 3 lipo batteries but unfortunately the internal sk of the barteria are not working, so find the internal card thanks
Getting ready to mod ( repair) my Autel Xstar Premium battery (4800mAh, 14.8V). To me it looks very similar in design to the DJI Phantom battery configuration. Any words of encouraging (tips) would be greatly appreciated. At this point in time my Autel drone is a $800. paper weight. ☺ Thanks Dave
Just locate where the cells are connected and try to find the order which they are connected. Just focus on the bare cells, they are very simple when you focus on the beginning of the battery, and let the rest of the electronics be as is. Also mind the + and - of course
I just acquired an old Phantom 2 with dead batteries. I followed your instructions, and they worked! Thanks for the help. I just have the issue that the charger won't charge the batteries, and the intelligent battery is always flashing red (thinking it is at critical voltage). Did you have any issue with this?
Glad it helped! Check the voltage, should be above 9.9v total or 3.3v each cell, otherwise it might not want to charge. If you connected everything properly, it has no way of knowing the difference between the original battery and your battery so then the problem must be either one or more cells under 3v3 or wrong connection on the balancing connectors.
For phantom 3 standard, its voltage needed is 15.2 but a 4S will give only 14.2, so this is for phantom 2 only or how can I do same thing for phantom 3?
hii.... thnx so much for that Vid, the problem after fixing everything and drone light up the motors are not working... and I’m DJI vision gives message that the battery is UNOFFICAL BATTERY. Do u,ve any solution for that?! Thnx again

Sannsynligvis. Bare å teste, batteriet bør tåle det, bortsett fra at det kanskje lades litt raskere enn vanlig.
