Just a heads up I will not be changing any plumbing as its not worth the time or money to do so. I understand the flow rate is lower b/c of the 1.5 to 3/4" pipe, I was only looking for an increase in flow and that's what i got with the upgrade.
Not worth the time and money? At a pond you want 3 to 4 inch pipes for top flow. If you change to 2 inch you will get dubble the flow or half the power consumption. But hey not my money to spend
Man that pained me to see that big beautiful 1.5" outlet get reduced to .75" haha... if you could keep it 1.5" through the manifold that would really bump up the jam
Hey Travis, I have two dcp-15000s. The controller is wonky before you get used to it. You don't need to "push" the buttons at all, it kinda senses touch. lightly touch any of the buttons and you'll see the display light up a bit brighter, then it's ready for input. Barely touch the buttons to adjust. It's kinda like a phone screen in that you don't push
Can't wait to finally get my DCP pump setup. Been a few setbacks since I last checked in with a comment but everything looks great, congrats man and nice work!
Been running that pump for about a year. You are going to push a lot more water with less watts. I believe your 3/4 plumbing is holding it back from its max. Would be interesting to see if the flow rate holds as you ramp down the pump speed. At a minimum, you could increase the pipe size from the pump to the branch for the first valves.
Hi Travis, thanks for the videos pal been following them a while now. Have you ever found with your Jebao return pumps that they rust over time? I've got a Jebao dcp6500 that I've been using around 2 years. I've had a Triton ICP come back saying I have high copper, cobalt and zinc this month (last month it was clear) so i'm trying to work out what it could be. I added detox which is when things started to look rough but wondering if it could be the return. Thanks again pal
Hi Travis, can you control this pump with the Neptune Apex. I was thinking of doing so with the AQUALINK A1 CONTROLLER but the manual seems to suggest that the largest size you can control is the DCP-10000. I have a DCP-13000 and DCP-15000.
thank for share, I am setting a sump at Basement of my house. My Display tank( 200 * 750 *600 cm) in Ground Floor, The distance from sump to main tank about 7-8 meter. What Kind of return pump I should use? Thank so much ( I am thinking about Jebao DCP 20000 )
Awesome fish room! You should think about increasing the size of your pipe to 1.5" for the manifold and keep your 3/4" pipe for your tank inlets. You will increase your flow substantially. Right now you are pushing water from a 3/4" then splitting it four ways through more 3/4" pipe. In a nut shell your are limiting your flow by 75% for each of your tanks. If you were to build a new manifold at 1.5" and have reducing T's to the 3/4" pipe your old pump would outperform the new one the way it is currently set up. Just some food for thought. Keep up the good work!
My guess is you need larger diameter pipe in your return if you really want to take advantage of the bigger pump. Probably not worth replumbing everything though.
I'm guessing the reason you couldn't find any fittings that directly matched the new pump is because the old pump you said was one inch which was probably actually 25 mm because that directly corresponds to one inch the new one was probably some other metric measurement that doesn't correspond to English measurements
LMFAO Travis we would get along great I think. Oh and you have to caress the buttons not push them. I was looking at the 20,000 for my 565g but went with the reeflo Hammerhead instead. Great Vid.
Hey FishOfHex they not push buttons. they just touch first touch to wake up second touch operate. when adjusting it goes from 30% to 100% and the display there after is the wattage the pump is running at. The DCP 18000 runs at max 130w.
Hope you have better luck than i did with this model than i did. The last Jebao pump i had from them lasted 4 years. I had 2 pumps give me an "error 5" code, pumps stops working. Luckily i got them from Amazon and it was easy to return.
that piping could probably use an upgrade. Either bigger pipes all around or at least that piece going directly from the pump to the first Y split. Because the pump is working hard or maybe even doesn't reach it's full potential as the narrow pipes restrict it (water doesn't compress much). By the way, you can always saw off that piece on the pump and then will be possible to unscrew.
Hey man, love your videos but pls be careful because I had that pump and noticed after a year that it started to leak voltage into the tank!!! I would test for voltage leaks regularly
omg..I had to buy a big pump in a hurry for a 240 gallon fresh tank. I went and bought a 900gph at HD. Not even 2 months later I see a bit of oil. I bought the 4 year guarantee. Can you imagine this no name Chinese brand lasting 4 years?..why I bought in for another $6!
There's not a big flow difference because you're using 3/4" PVC, and all you're doing is restricting the pumps full potential flow. Switch to at least 1" PVC and you'll see a major difference.

Thx for the vid. For anybody confused re. Buttons, these are capacitive touch. Not push buttons.
OEF vet here...instant like and sub.
Thanks for your service I'm a vet to OIF 03-04 3rd ACR, do you have to submerge the pump I have a fresh water tank

LMFAO “these buttons blow”🤣😂😂🤣😂.
They do blow. Same for the 20000. I wanted to beat the crap out of it.
actually they are touch sensitive. don't press them touch them.

While using Jebao return pump do you notice uneven water flow ? My Jebao push water uneven , water livel in my tank goes up&down ((((

FYI-1 1/4” bushing/pipe fit perfectly inside the 1 1/2” fitting. I just hooked up a dcp-18000.

How noisy is the 18000 at 30%?

My guess is you need larger diameter pipe in your return if you really want to take advantage of the bigger pump. Probably not worth replumbing everything though.
The reason why the controller is looks much bigger than it needs to is mainly due to having more internal space for a heat sink to keep it cool
Is these pumps really reliable
How long do they last running 24/7 ?

Ha. The buttons on my 3 jebaos suck too. All the same models and controllers but the buttons have a different feel.
Hey FishOfHex they not push buttons. they just touch first touch to wake up second touch operate. when adjusting it goes from 30% to 100% and the display there after is the wattage the pump is running at. The DCP 18000 runs at max 130w.
Yea i figured that out during the video but didnt mess with editing it in
Please show an update after you finish adjusting the flow so we can see maybe a side by side of the difference.

Just a bad batch, Ive never had any other issues from my Jabao return pumps.
U need to put that pump after the filter👌🙂
Sir. Can I know. How long you use this pump? Age this pump?
IDK you will need to find the video from the 125 gallon playlist when i upgraded from a dc6000
Would you buy this again? I swear you said you wouldn't..
Very cool...I really enjoy your videos

How were you testing for low DC voltage
Could have gotten the larger pvc threaded end and screwed it directly to the pump housing. Thats how i connected my dcp20000. No permanent gluing.
Hi, you may switch to slightly bigger tubes for first part before bifurcation to each tank, could improve still little bit ;)
The lowboys are so weak i wouldn't risk cutting or doing anything with the plumbing until im ready to take the system down.
I just installed the jebao dcp 15000 and agree the buttons suck. I realized though that they are touch buttons and not designed to actually depress.
My god, the size of the DCPs controller killed me...why is it so fucking massive?? Hahaha

“Oh there’s a fish in the sump”
🤣
again??
Dang foreign outlets! That’s a big boy though. Hopefully the flow will be much better!
Haha "foreign" only the US uses weird measurements. The rest of the world use metric :)
Just bought some phyto and nitrate from will be getting some coral from you
You guys buy from hex
👍👍
Them buttons 😂😂😂
if you were to use 1in pvc your jebao 12000 will produce more flow

BIEN ou pas Bien svp ???
If you dont buy a Vectra l2 pump for $500, all your coral will take 4 years to grow 1 inch. Hahaha. JK.
It doesnt have to look pretty, just has to be functional. That's what women tell me all the time
