If this video can bring awareness to the fact that Infection needs new maps, a balancing pass and some fixes then I've done my job. As of May 2024, Halo Infinite Infection is one of the least played modes on the game.
Tell me something... how the hell does a hazmat suit help against an AI infection?? They could've leaned more into the idea and made the infection grant you armour enhancements but at a cost of losing other enhancements. For example, they could've made so that a player can choose speed but lose health/shield, or get more health/shield and be slow, have camo all time but always visible in radar and be loud, etc.
As of I know you can toggle the irqtua red stuff in customs. I am pretty sure I did it in my infection mode version. Please check that again, because I know it's possible for customs.
I think plasma projectile weapons should never be in infection. They are useless against the infected with how fast they move and do very little damage to their healthpool. Also, the infected should never be invisible or have abilities like the smoke grenade or sensor dart. The smoke grenades make it so that even if you are holding out in a long range scenario, they can just pop a smoke onto your position and close the distance. The invisibility is super hard to counter if you aren't really trying to spot the player, and the energy sword lunge range and their movement speed means once you get relatively close it might be too late. The sensor dart means that every other infected player on the map can instantly see where the survivors are without any communication between the infected.
You made mention, but didn't include it in your summary... I absolutely hate this version of infection because they are running at 200 KPH! 🤯🤯 If your ping is anything higher than 50ms it is freaking impossible to land any shots... @@Glacial_floofs Yeah, it was easier to notice because if you were paying attention to your motion tracker, you could still get a heads up on cloaked opponents anyway. It's just not Infection without a proper 8 gauge M45 pump action shotgun. The Bulldog compared to it is pretty much "you vs the guy she told you not to worry about". Also visual wise, I really liked Halo 2A's Flood Infection models for Spartans. Very brutal with the broken helmet and skull.
Agreed, although if they bring it back they need to remove the grapple hook, as players could reach places infected couldn't, but still found the mode to be more fun than the original
I 100% agree with every said in this video. Thanks for bringing attention to the abysmal state of my favorite Halo game mode. Halo Reach infection is my all time favorite with Halo 5 infection in second, wish we could back to that style and quality.
I seriously doubt we'll ever get a new weapon or vehicle in Infinite. The Falcon's likely been finished for at least a year, but at the same time it's just a multi-Spartan death trap with all the anti-vehicle options currently on the field. There's a reason the Razorback is mostly ignored outside of one-man suicide runs for the enemy flag. I'm not even sure if they've worked on the Banished double-barreled shotty since we discovered it. It seemed like it was mostly finished regardless, outside of textures.
@@Spendingryan As far as I am aware, it was mostly functional and just needed textures. The Gauss Hog is also in the game's files, and is fully functional and can be spawned in.
true, i think such a thing can be fun, but only for custom games with huge maps where you have to hide, not for actual matchmaking gameplay with normal infection settings
Seriously, at least in past halo games you reloaded one shell at a time and could shoot after throwing one shell in if need be. Now you have to wait for the entire drum change animation
@@doransponsel4813 Yeah, I actually had to spell that out for someone a couple months ago. It takes ~3 seconds to change the drum of the Bulldog. It takes half a second to load one shell into the M45/M90. You are good to fire as soon as that shell is loaded. However, if the reload for the Bulldog is interrupted at *any point,* you have to start over. I'm not even going to get into network issues, Mint said pretty much what I was going to. The Bulldog is an inferior shotgun in every respect outside of range, which doesn't help it much anyway with the pellet spread.
The odds of matching up with you on infection yesterday night and then seeing this video is unreal! Totally agree, I just played that one game of infection after coming back to infinite over a year and that one match was it for me.
As someone who played countless hours on Halo Reach living dead up until around 2018, and then countless more on the revamped MCC playing Halo 3, 2A and Reach, I can confidently say Infinite's infection is utterly terrible and a waste of time, an even more disappointing follow up to the Flood, if ever it was possible. They took everything interesting about Infection and just neutered it so that everyone can be as bored and annoyed as possible, with the changes to Last Man, weaponry/ abilities, zombie speed combined with the useless radar making it impossible to have any awareness of the infected unless you're an owl, awful scoring system, and also terrible maps selected for infection. And other things like the bots which I wasn't even aware of, of course infection was gonna flop.
@BillBagBargensonsBarger they had more modes than halo infintie had at launch... and more than halo infinite still has because 343 cant port modes from games they have already made somehow because how horribly they ruined the engine trying to make it "better"
I've played infection in every single Halo game except CE, and even on modded servers of other games as early as CoD2. Halo: Reach's infection was still my favorite. Alpha Zombies plus abilities like lunge made the game that much more fun I think. I remember the most fun maps being Powerhouse, Boardwalk and Sword Base.
343 has a problem with trying to change the old halo modes or weapons and then people hate it and they just keep reversing it and getting praise for it
The older games had game mode options that "forced colour" or appearance. Which you could select from most of the standard colours. I would like to see if we could have the toggle include various colours or armour sets maybe, like flood armours, or armour effects like erratus or flaming heads or I dunno, cyber showdown stuff. Whatever your specific creation needs. If infinite is on its way out, then I think they need to start dropping the shop prices soon and open the custom game options up and let the community run the game now so that they can work on halo7. A small handful to run and update playlists and add community favourite forge maps, or deal with cheaters and quality of life issues. Like what happened with mcc
Dang, the instant shade to Halo 4. Their infection could have been better, but it was a cool change to have a different model as the infected, instead of, imo, a lame green color. Being the flood was pretty cool.
The number of friends I made on halo reach infection was insane, almost the whole lobby had mics, the pre/post game lobbies, the trash talking, the excitement, everything was perfect, losing those social features for easily the most significant social gamemode in the halo franchise is honestly so hard to see
343 are very good at making baffling and unnecessary changes like removing the DMR's scope, changing SWAT to TaCtIcLe SlAyEr, removing the plasma pistol's emp, replacing the pump shotgun with their dogwater shotgun, etc. They've clearly never heard of the phrase "if it ain't broke".
The entire draw of Halo from the beginning was for the players to define the rules of engagement. Custom games, theater mode, Forge being the best representation of this idea: letting the players be completely free to create whatever they want through the game's level building tools and create interesting and fun game modes. Past Halo games, specifically Bungie's games knew this exactly. Infinite's message from day 1 has been to restrict how the players play the game. They limited the socual features, limited progression entirely to the battle pass and completing daily challenges that are extremely specific as to how you play the game. They limited how many vehicles spawned in games to further limit the fun you could have in BTB matches, which at launch was just a bigger team deathmatch. Then in S2 they made the Lone Wolf update to limit people to not even play with their friends! The biggest draw of Halo being a fun party game for people to enjoy together (not being even better as it's free to play) is destroyed in order to force players to play solo and progress through the battle pass to level up. Then when Forge dropped, it was clear this is what the game lacked from day 1, a way for people to make their own fun in custom maps and game modes to play through. Now, if they are releasing Infection why would they limit it so much?! 343i just doesn't seem to understand people wanna be able to play how they wanna play. Idk if these decision were the result of previous leadership which is now gone, cause the game was getting better the moment they left the studio. But I am really not confident in 343i to continue with Halo in any way further on.
Nothing will ever top halo 3 brains infection for me. The mad race to the top of haunted manor, droping the crate to seal the attic behind you and any humans too slow to make it. Ah good times.
As someone who plays hot pursuit religiously, there's a toggle for the infected screen and armor effects in the settings when you're setting up a custom game up in infinte.
The limited ammo killed the fun. The entire point of infection was that you could survive as long as your skills allowed you to. In Infinite you were basically doomed to search for weapons constantly, not focusing on the zombies at all and getting killed while on the move. It became less about skill and more about resource hoarding, trying to go unnoticed while the other players attracted the zombies and wasted their ammo.
7:00 my brother and I have always had an issue with how scarce the ammo is in the infection games along with the other issues you covered here. They should’ve given us the original shotgun and keep the zombies at walking speed not sprinting at mach 12
Infinite has the most well-versed forge. Sooooo much potential to build cool base Defenses, recreations like infected manor from Halo 3, and even those time-based maps that's sooooo damn fun. And we didn't get shit. So much potential, so many previous maps and games to inspire from, and they still fail.
Halo 3 LAN parties. Infected on Sandtrap custom games with customizable move speed and jump height. Zooming around the outer edge of the map in vehicles to get away from the zombies and getting splatter after splatter laughing hysterically the whole time. Where did those days go? How did this franchise take away so much that was so well loved?
The Hide and Seek aspect that they added is good imo, sure it might be hard at first to figure out where people are but thats why you have to play the psychology game and get in your opponents head
A lot of issues in AAA multiplayer games can be traced back to this idea of over PCness and passing of parenting responsibilities from the parents to everyone else. Parents don't parent anymore because they don't have time, and so everyone else has to "protect" little Jimmy from potentially negative interactions all the while people that are okay with those interactions because they're fun to us get to suffer.
Glad you covered this! Halo Reach Infection is my most played gametype of all time I want to say, yet I only have about 10 matches played in Infinite. The Infinite iteration is pretty terrible because it heavily changed the core dynamics of the gametype. Add to that a shotgun that is no where near the pump shotty, a bunch of uber cramped maps with weird layouts and not enough open space, plus the new alpha zombie invis.... Makes for an awful rendition. Why would they change the formula of most kills wins?? I can get top kills as a survivor & as an alpha/beta zombie & still lose to someone who played out the time clock. Brutal & disappointing
343 probably looked at how many people leave infection because they are the infected and figured that they needed to make it easier for the infected to kill people thus the bulldog was introduced
While i didn't mind the changes to Infection, i definitely played it less than Reach's, but it feels like Infection was game mode hit the hardest by the "one more game" design. Like long matches are not wanted, which is why i think in BTB you saw uneven vehicle drops to essentially just end the game, and it seems like infection on a whole was designed to get to the next game as quick as possible. Hence, small maps, fast zombies and low ammo, and a 30 sec timer for the last alive.
After everything that infinite has put out i ended up just going back to Halo5 its just way better and has a much more smooth gameplay experience, playing it on a series x makes it even greater, game still looks amazing and feels like halo should. Im glad infinite failed i aint payin just to be able to color my spartan
ive gone back to halo eldewrito since it updated, so its like halo 3 combined with the goods of halo reach and 4, a wonderful fan mod (which at this point feels more like a fangame with how insanely different they made it from halo online's base)
I haven't played in a while. But when I did, people would always hide outside of areas that zombies could easily get to. Which is fine. But most of the time it was out of the intended bounds of the map.
343 always had a problem with "We are going to tell you what you're going to like and then you're going to like it and if you don't like it too bad" instead of just giving the players what they want in an effort to, what I can only assume, leave their own mark on it instead of making it like Bungie's design.
I will say, the playlist layout of each game type lowers infection towards the bottom. As I've played, I mainly don't pick it because there are other's burying it. If they have a better UI like MCC's I'd be more inclined to choose it
Infection's future on a future game i guess, would be great if they had random flood AI with spartans also being infected - but of course, much stronger versions of the flood against the survivors. Heck, even make it like Beast mode from Gears of War, where you could choose from all the enemies in Gears 3 to attack players with.
Giving a point for every second you stay alive is a terrible choice Most games have like 6 humans standing in the same corner cause the scoring system rewards it...
I've enjoyed Infection in Halo Infinite, but definitely played it mostly during Season 4. More game modes and maps would make me want to play more. And yeah adjusting ammo count and weapons could make it better too.
Don’t forget, there are a TON of glitchers and cheaters in infection. Especially on the Launch Site map. My friend and I have reported the spots SEVERAL times. Yet 343 does nothing. This is so unfair because the infected can never reach them while they just grind kills from above
if custom game modes can make it into matchmaking, then a classic infection (like halo reach) would certainly would be amazing. I'll even make the mode just so 343i can just put it into the playlist. So what I would do is this. make the bulldog damage a bit higher so the one shot kills are way more consistant. Make players spawn with the pistol instead of the commando. Remove the 30 second timer. Make infected slower. Increase the infected score. Replace the shroud screen from the alpha infected with the quantum translocator. Replace the quantum translocator from the regular infected with the thruster. Give players more ammo. And finally let players move in the end game. And all of this can be done in the forge scripting feature. so hopefully whenever the survive the dead playlist arrives 343 will announce that they're open for more custom games, they'll accept the classic infection mode and put it in a seperate playlist fron regular infection.
If this video can bring awareness to the fact that Infection needs new maps, a balancing pass and some fixes then I've done my job.

It's also a shame because it seemed like they wanted to include infection in the story, which COULD have been interesting. Wasted potential
I love how we have a second in game currency before a second new weapon, but on the other hand I didn't think we would get ai in forge.
@BizarreCoyote yeah, wasn't there also some sort of apc type vehicle which was untextured before but did get textured later but is still unfinished
@@Spendingryan As far as I am aware, it was mostly functional and just needed textures.
The Gauss Hog is also in the game's files, and is fully functional and can be spawned in.
playing halo infinite infection is just "please dont find, please dont find me, please dont find me, please dont find me"
Hide and seek lol
@@bluelements hide and seek plus 3 gallons of adrenaline and not the gameplay enhancing kind
Lmao
It’s too damn fast paced zoomers even don’t like it lmao😊
true, i think such a thing can be fun, but only for custom games with huge maps where you have to hide, not for actual matchmaking gameplay with normal infection settings
*The Failure of Halo Infinite.
Finding an infection match last longer than an infection match
infection was overshadowed by firefight squad battle and husky raid
It was less fun playing infected where every time you died, Itarus just HAD make a comment. Not once every 3 or 5 deaths... EVERY. GOD. DAMN. TIME.
Me: *infects five people before dying*
Iratus: Bro you suck ass tho LOL
"You are cowardice WITH LEGGS" Gets very annoying after infecting three people at once.
You can turn off the AI.
The halo 4 comment made me laugh 😂
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this tbh , the infection models were cool but the gameplay was just not it
i thought it was one of the better infections haha
@@A_PerkySet aye Danny 😂😂🤝
My man is on a solo mission to keep this franchise alive.
The hardest part of the game mode is being last man standing and trying to reload the shotgun while hordes of zombies are on you
Seriously, at least in past halo games you reloaded one shell at a time and could shoot after throwing one shell in if need be.
@@BizarreCoyote i like the bulldog in normal game modes, but it really is inferior compared to old halo Shottys
Halo 5 infection was amazing
The odds of matching up with you on infection yesterday night and then seeing this video is unreal! Totally agree, I just played that one game of infection after coming back to infinite over a year and that one match was it for me.
I know it's not y'all's favorite, but I made really good memories on Halo 4's Infection. It's a shame people throw it under the bus.
Are you talking about the Halo 4 flood mode? I thought that was a cool idea to make it flood related.
My biggest issue with it was I’d kill an infected and they’d still kill me from the grave anyway.
@@MintBlitz gotcha. I can see that.
@@MintBlitz I was not very good at Halo back then, so those issues were unnoticed to me, but I just loved the Flood aspect of it, good memories.
@@MintBlitz You know, fair. There's an argument to be made that it keeps players on their toes, but it's not a very good argument.
As soon as one infected finds you, youve basically lost the round
Never found infection that fun.
The lack of casual gamemodes is incredibly depressing when looking at Halo 3 & Reach
@BillBagBargensonsBarger they had more modes than halo infintie had at launch... and more than halo infinite still has because 343 cant port modes from games they have already made somehow because how horribly they ruined the engine trying to make it "better"
@@sparkthedragonI mean it’s a lot better now. Ig jusy too little too late yk
3 steps forward. 43,000 steps back.
Dang, the instant shade to Halo 4.
Their infection could have been better, but it was a cool change to have a different model as the infected, instead of, imo, a lame green color. Being the flood was pretty cool.
The number of friends I made on halo reach infection was insane, almost the whole lobby had mics, the pre/post game lobbies, the trash talking, the excitement, everything was perfect, losing those social features for easily the most significant social gamemode in the halo franchise is honestly so hard to see
Spot on, thanks for making this video
I learnt from your h5 FFA feedback vids
Thank you for this video. I played infection non-stop in the old games. Played it for a week in Infinite, then never again.
The community didn’t use infection for duck hunt from what I experienced. And that’s what I REALLY wanted it for
Players: “we want flood infection”
343: “best I can do is flood skin”
343 are very good at making baffling and unnecessary changes like removing the DMR's scope, changing SWAT to TaCtIcLe SlAyEr, removing the plasma pistol's emp, replacing the pump shotgun with their dogwater shotgun, etc. They've clearly never heard of the phrase "if it ain't broke".
343i will never understand that lack of options = lack of fun.
They have the answers to the test and still fail by looking at the next guys paper.
We don't talk enough about how 343 doesn't add the new maps to non-standard game modes
Everyone misses the OG shotty
« Where not talking about halo 4 » that personal…
Nothing will ever top halo 3 brains infection for me. The mad race to the top of haunted manor, droping the crate to seal the attic behind you and any humans too slow to make it. Ah good times.
You think this is bad? Wait'll we get Griffball with these sus hammers.
We aren’t getting griffball. I just don’t see it coming
As someone who plays hot pursuit religiously, there's a toggle for the infected screen and armor effects in the settings when you're setting up a custom game up in infinte.
My favorite mode is Sniper-mode. It's amazing. It's sad that it's not popular
Que 115 banger audio starting at 3:14 good audio choice Mint 🫡🤘
7:00 my brother and I have always had an issue with how scarce the ammo is in the infection games along with the other issues you covered here. They should’ve given us the original shotgun and keep the zombies at walking speed not sprinting at mach 12
I feel like the playlist would gain popularity off of having silly infection modes as well like Jenga, Vacuum shute, fat kid, etc.
I love how when game Developers game play is Criticized there response is you're enjoying it the wrong way. Enjoy it the way we tell you to
Convergence Bulldog starts would probably help a little as well, but definitely score balancing for infected
Zombies on Foundation in Halo 2 brings back so many memories
Great video! Good choice of music also! Kino der toten flashback
The Hide and Seek aspect that they added is good imo, sure it might be hard at first to figure out where people are but thats why you have to play the psychology game and get in your opponents head
id be fine with it if it wasnt the only way you can play infection in the matchmaking
It’s was nice to get in a game last night with mint
Is no longer talking about how the zombies are INVISIBLE 1000 PERCENT SPEEED ALONG WITH ARMOR ABILITIES
Today I learned mint is a zombies fan, bring me 115
Very big zombies fan.
"The failure of Halo Infinite" is all that had to be typed
Halo Reach infection was my favourite. Had so much fun with that game mode back in the day
loved hearing 115 in the background at 3:18
The shroud screen make surviving near impossible. Also the new game setting for editing game mode is more confusing than ever.
Halo 5 infection was peak
The Speeeeeed! 😂😂😂
Oh Jeremy Clarkson 😁
And of course Mint copying it!
😂😂😂
I’m so happy there’s Top Gear joke in here
While i didn't mind the changes to Infection, i definitely played it less than Reach's, but it feels like Infection was game mode hit the hardest by the "one more game" design.
I played infinite infection for like 20 minutes, thought to myself “what’s the point”, and never went back
NGL the red armor shine and red energy swords look dope as hell. Skibidi Toilet
Just summed up the modern AAA gaming industry. Tries to reinvent the wheel then doubles down when everyone hates it. Like a bold teenager.
6:02 Casual Player here ✋, yeah it’s difficult.
If they have a better UI like MCC's I'd be more inclined to choose it
Halo Reach Living Dead was golden
Infection's future on a future game i guess, would be great if they had random flood AI with spartans also being infected - but of course, much stronger versions of the flood against the survivors. Heck, even make it like Beast mode from Gears of War, where you could choose from all the enemies in Gears 3 to attack players with.
The inability for 343 to just go into the settings and change 1-2 things to make it awesome blows my mind.
What I missed was having maps that expanded as time on the map went by. Like hold out spots
Giving a point for every second you stay alive is a terrible choice
Most games have like 6 humans standing in the same corner cause the scoring system rewards it...
115 soundtrack *cheff kiss*
How companies can literally ruin things that can print them money if they don't tamper with it is still mind boggling to me.
343 has been reinventing the wheel since H4.
Halo INFINITE... Back to the roots they said...
if custom game modes can make it into matchmaking, then a classic infection (like halo reach) would certainly would be amazing.
