    The caliper trick to get the retaining ring off is freaking genius

    @Turbo Talks Tech,
    Will it not change the alignment and cause distorted image and also lead to collimation error. Does it not get affected even by slight change?

    Hi, thanks for this video.
    I see you use isopropylic alcohol to clean your lenses and I wondered if this can be done on any telescope lenses.
    Since some are coated with special material, can we use isopropylic alcohol on these lenses ?
    For example, I have an Esprit 120ED, and I think the triplet lenses are coated (not 100% sure), can I use isopropylic alcohol (only to clean the external part of the main lens) ?

    Nicely done. My only comment is when you remove the objective it is a good idea to mark the outer lens element (crown element) with the lens cell. This will insure that the lens will go back into the cell (which is mounted to the tube) in the same orientation. This will insure that there will be no change in the end collimation which is relative to the tube and focuser.

      You're right - Interestingly, with the 80ED in particular, either I got a 'good' one, or there is not an issue with the collimation depending on orientation. I tried moving it around to see if I could spot any differences, and couldn't see anything, so I might just be lucky.

    hey man i just accidentally smashed my objective lens, i was wondering if these are easily replaceable and if they take long to replace

    What if you didn't mark it? How do you get it right?

    I wash my (eyeglass) lenses under running water and soap. Then rinse so no water remains. Cloth or tissue never touches them. No coating erosion, after 5 years. They may last longer than I do.

    Well decided to play a drinking game while watching this video. All videos I watch with british people commenting I sometimes play a drinking game where I take a drink everyone time they say Er or Erm. I'm about drunk now after this one.

    there has no use of any glue between the lenses?

    • @TurboTalksTech

      The pressure applied by screwing it in and the spacers are all that is required. You do not want anything interfering with the light

    No videos in a month then 3 in 2 days. That’s a funny upload schedule

    • @TurboTalksTech
      @TurboTalksTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to shoot some additional footage for one of them which bottlenecked the distribution schedule (of which there is no set schedule!)

    Isopropyl alcohol removes coatings of the lense this is what i heard is that true??

      The recipe that gave in the video is one I’ve used for a very long time including on my 10 inch SCT which has ultra high transmission coatings

    Do not clean ED or Fpl optics. To specialised. Too easy to damage. Will need expert collimating. I know. I followed this guide. Ruined my wo z81. Now trying to work a way out of my troubles. Hey ho. Never mind.

    • @TurboTalksTech
      @TurboTalksTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done this many times and no problems with collimating at all. Not sure if the WO z81 has anything done differently but there is nothing clever about this.
