Lec 37: Laws of Dialectical Materialism

  • In this lecture we will study about
    1. Laws of Dialectical Materialism as summarised by Friedrich Engels namely Law of Union and Conflict of Opposites, Law of Quantitative Change and Qualitative Change and Law of negation of negation.
    2. Dialectical Materialism as conceptualised by Karl Marx which is in direct opposition to Hegel's concept of Dialectical Idealism.
    3. Forces of production and Production relations which form the economic base which Marx terms as infrastructure influencing the superstructure comprising of various social institutions like Religion, Family, Education, State etc.
    4. We will also study about Modes of Production as History progresses through 5 Modes of production namely Primitive Communism, Ancient or Slave Mode of Production, Feudal, Capitalist Mode of production and ultimately the Communist Mode of Production.

    sir can we also say quantitative change is slow/gradual/evolutionary , duration is long ,also change in F.O.P is quantitative change whereas qualitative change is rapid/fast/revolutionary , also change in R.O.P or M.O.P, duration is very short .

      See It is only after Development of superior FOP in erstwhile MOP that will trigger a change in production relations... Now, change (FOP) +change (PR) will lead to change in MOP.( because MOP=FOP+PR)
      Only talk about the above form of change in your answer which is a revolutionary change. (Otherwise it might confuse the examiner)... Because Marx Predominantly talks about Revolutionary Changes Or Major changes only (while incremental changes in his theory hold an insignificant part)!!!

    1.Sir when u will complete paper1 and paper2 all lectures?? Please give schedule of classes.. So that we can prepare according to that..
    2.U still didn't made video on how to prepare upsc sociology based on your classes as mains resource? Asking again and again.. Give road map for sociology upsc 2023..
    3.Is your classes r sufficient to write answers for previous year questions? Or do we need to read books again??
