I’m native Dutchman who’s been living in Amsterdam for about ten years now but I’ve discovered so many nice spots here because of your vlogs. It was lovely to see my beloved city through your eyes and it made me love it even more!
Been there done that as I've mentioned already on your channel. Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Malaysia, S. Korea, England, Russia, with a home-base in Milan, Italy. Loved it!! Packing and all because in the end, I've had to do the packing all by myself uprooting from our decades of apartment in Milan to move to Jakarta, Indonesia, after losing my husband almost 4 years later. Two years now am back in my own country and feeling enabled and no longer intimidated since I could do the packing and moving by myself. My late husband would be amazed if he could see how I did it!! So, enjoy guys. Live life to the best and the fullest you can because it is so beautiful!!
Awww I've loved watching these videos with my wee cuppa in a rainy Scotland. I've subscribed. I like the rawness of watching how a person's everyday life goes. Most have edited the life out there videos.
Its been nice watching and being part of your lives and it is sad you are moving on. My experience of Amsterdam is it always remains in your soul, its laid back attitude and tolerance has stayed with me and enriched my life, I hope this is the case for you. I wish you a safe journey home to your family in Canada and look forward to your future vlogs
Sorry if this seems nosy but I’ve watched your videos and am still confused as to why you’re leaving Amsterdam. You both love it there, over time developed friends, and Ken seems to still be employed while working from home. I can see the pro side of moving to back to Canada which is lovely - family, you could go back to nursing if desired, Ken has skills to seeming work anywhere - BUT, you’re still sad to leave. If it’s not too intrusive to ask, what was the driving force?
First, thank you for asking this so nicely :) Second, I have wondered if people would ask more questions because I realize I keep things fairly vague. I guess the short answer is it just felt like the right time - a gut feeling I guess. Family was meant to visit us in the spring/summer for an extended time - all of which was cancelled. Which made us think about heading home for a while during the summer. We also planned to be home for Christmas. So we figured by the time we are home for a month in the summer and a month before Christmas and there's no real reason to be in Amsterdam paying top dollar for rent while Ken's office is closed - we might as well head home and be closer to family while this pandemic runs its course. We could have just come home for a visit, and then back to Amsterdam but our gut was telling us to get home. It doesn't make it less sad to leave Amsterdam - we loved it! If it wasn't for the state of the world, we would still be there. I hope that makes more sense :) and thanks for watching!
@@AndreaClare I think this is a right decision. Follow your gut. Europe is not a (politicallyl) safe place to be this time. Covid 19 is changing everything not in a good way. Canada is a much more free and safe country right now. Have a lgreat time moving beck!
Oh my goodness...The boxes.. You guys take me back to the thousands of times I have done this. It's bittersweet for sure but you'll be fine - I assure you. After years living overseas and then moving back home I was asked what had surprised me the most... In my case it was how much my life and my experiences living in so many different cultures/countries had changed me! Can't wait to hear your thoughts after you settle back home. Have a smooth and safe trip!
Thanks for your video! :) one small question: what's the name of the moving company? Do you know if they do same service in other Europe countries? Thanks!
