  • My cousins and i had a film day at the Zig zag railway on easter monday. Loco 1072 stopped at a signal in front of us. A few chicks is one of the carriages started talking to me. Also featured is a shot of 218 (The Yank) climbing after leaving top points. And 1072 slipping while climbing on its way to top points

LMatters, ZZR also has fantastic modern things called hand held radios. The driver, signaller and guard at THE REAR of the train all communicate with eachother. Safety risks and procedures and developed differently between different railways. There was only one cab rider in 1072 (in the fireman's seat) well away from the firehole door. Don't assume risks haven't been taken into consideration....such as photographers greasing the track (not necessarily the one filming this video).

I don't like the practice of simply sounding three short blasts of the whistle and, at the same time, commencing to set back (in order to sand the rails). There was obviously no one piloting these reversing movements despite the presence of persons about the track. Also, what is the policy on persons riding in the locomotive cabin? I've yet yo see a Zig Zag video without a cab full of people. Blow an element, tube or drop the lead plug and see what happens!

      1. The guard would be piloting them back. 2. 1 passenger in the cab is not "a cab full of people". I would suggest you learn about these things before shooting your mouth off.
