- San Francisco County Jails 2 and 3 were placed on lockdown Sunday for the weekend due to reports of physical assaults against deputies and jail staff by the inmates.

When the inmates start attacking staff, you’ve got a big problem. They have lost their fear of punishment.

And the best way to handle that issue is to start enforcing and carrying out the sentences and punishments given. As in, start the exec's again and start enforcing the 3 Strikes Law, start enforcing the gun enhancement sentences as well.

@@sheilaharris6614 I was a prison guard 22 years in a men’s full custody prison. The inmates would complain about the conditions. I’d ask “ If it’s so bad, why do you keep coming back?”
“They know they can continue to act out and nothing will be done .” Whether they’re in jail or not, and whether comfort or not, they’re going to act out either way. Why? Because they know the system is shorthanded. What can you as a civilian do about it? Nothing. You still gotta get up and go to work.

The presenter referring to the California State National Guard as the "U S Military" is incorrect. She is ignorant on what the California National Guard represents. It is illegal to use the U.S. Military internally within the United States to maintain general order. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits the use of active duty military for such purposes.

County jails and State prisons have armories so they have plenty of guns. This isn’t a gun issue it’s a lack of control issue within the system. CA state prisons are having similar issues. As the state continues its push for these hug a thug reforms within the criminal justice system the inmates are taking full advantage of the lack in punishment and accountability for their actions. Ask anyone who works in a jail or prison and they will tell you how backwards and out of control it is now.
I'd be pissed off too if I was one of the few criminals in SF actually locked up. Lol.

@Reach41 Hi yes for your information yes I have been inside the jail visiting a friend of mine. And I saw the conditions there forced to live in,& the food there served to eat, it actually looked just like the Slop they feed to pigs & the guards were always yelling at the inmate’s for no reason. And also what no one knows is that one of the supposed inmate’s was really placed inside the jail to gather information about the conditions inside the jail & hoe the guards & staff treat the inmate’s
@@latinking9793 My son spent 6 months in jail, then 19 months in prison for repeated DUI infractions. He says the food is not from a good restaurant, just the basics, but it meets guidelines on minimum daily requirements, and there’s plenty of it. In jail, some guards were asses, and some treated inmates with respect and courteously unless an inmate was being a dickhead. In prison, it was much more relaxed, most inmates had jobs they worked for 40 hours, and the guards mixed well with them. That’s not like what you described at all
@Reach41 Well I didn't say all the guards I said guards yes there are some guards that actually treated the inmate’s with respect. And for the food I can't say I know for sure & I also didn't say it's every day that the food was no good.
But the day I went there I actually seen one of the trays of food served to an inmate & yes it did look like Pig slop.
I'm also a volunteer Chaplain for inmate’s & I'm glad to hear that you're son wasn't mistreated while in jail.

Staff are notorious here for abusing their inmates as well.
Watch how you treat inmates. Honestly a lot of attacks are based off of treatment by each individual. I worked in this field for years and never had a issue but I treated all the same regardless of charges and I knew because I was the booking officer. I had no protection between the myself and inmates. I booked in killers, predators and etc.

Understaffing is indicative of underfunding. Take a hard look at the commissioners and which departments they are funding at which levels and why.
People aren't trying to get out anymore they wanna be there for life regardless of the amount of guards, when they do that..the system is just going to add more time to their sentence. smdh

An example of no oversight, and inmates seeing what they can get away with. They know if they act out, they get attention or get what they want. Here in California, bad behavior is rewarded over victims rights.

Staffing shortages, a nation wide issue.., with higher minimum wage companies "cannot" afford a full staff. So now we have limited services everywhere, it's an epidemic in the US. All because people complain they want a livable wage. Corporations are not going to just be nice and decide to reduce their 10 digit net profit margins to pay you more money just so you can afford to buy that house you always wanted. Not happening.
This problem will not be resolved
